6 years and 6 months in a young offender's institution
Anthony Lanchester, 20, of Stringer Close, Ilkeston, targeted his first victim as the boy walked home from a fair towards the end of 2024. He dragged him into a secluded area of a park and raped him. While on bail for that attack, he sexually assaulted a second teenage boy in a different Ilkeston park in spring 2025. Victim impact statements described the emotional toll, with the first victim feeling 'dirty inside and out' and the second anxious about court. Lanchester was found guilty after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court and sentenced to six-and-a-half years in a young offender's institution alongside lifelong registration and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Found guilty of rape and sexual assault. Also handed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order, placed on the sex offender register for life, and given five-year restraining orders. No previous convictions; defence described him as isolated with childlike qualities and a witness to domestic violence. Judge Mark Watson acknowledged the seriousness of the offences and the lasting effect on the victims.
