David John Clarkson, of Yorke Drive, Newark, Nottinghamshire, chatted with teenage girls online, persuaded one 15-year-old girl from Derby to meet him, took her to Newark, and photographed her in a baby-doll outfit after she undressed. He swapped explicit images with another underage girl, shared pictures with a third 14-year-old girl performing a sex act on herself, and sent her images of the first victim. He contacted a supposed 13-year-old (actually a paedophile hunter) and sent a near-naked picture. Police were tipped off by the hunter. Clarkson was caught with sexually-explicit images of children.
Pleaded guilty to 15 charges relating to possession and distribution of indecent images, inciting sexual activity and sexual exploitation of minors. Must sign on the sex offenders register for life. Later received an additional 14 days for wasting court time on appeal.

McLeary and David Francis set upon Davices in the flat where he was fatally stabbed in the chest. McLeary accepted in interview that he had a knife and may have stabbed Davices while they were wrestling on the floor. After the incident, McLeary stepped over the injured Davices with Lisa Barlow before leaving the building.
Found guilty by a jury following an eight-week trial.

Christopher Marshall drove 400 miles from Dundee with a balaclava, knife and Viagra-style tablets to meet a 13-year-old decoy girl in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, for sex. He had sent explicit photographs of his private parts to two decoy profiles posing as 12- and 13-year-old girls and engaged in sexual communication. He was confronted by a paedophile hunter group called Demon Hunters and arrested by police.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, attempting to engage a child in sexual communication and possession of a bladed article. No previous convictions. Lifetime sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register for life.

Desmond Rice, 47, from Aylesbury, along with Banet Tershana, Klodian Shenaj and Jetmir Myrtaj organised people smuggling crossings from France and Belgium to the UK in October 2022. Rice purchased the boat Aquaholic for £22,500 from Poole, transported it with Shenaj to Brightlingsea Marina in Essex, filled 12 canisters with nearly £1000-worth of fuel on 22 October, and provided a kayak for access. GPS showed the boat travelled to Belgium and back. Arrested on 29 October with related documents found at his house.
Pleaded guilty on 1 August. Bought the boat Aquaholic for £22,500, transported it to Brightlingsea Marina, filled it with fuel, and provided a kayak for access.

Dilon Price started an argument shortly before 9pm and assaulted a man he followed into the pub’s beer garden at the Market Inn in Huthwaite on 8 June 2025. His victim, Harley Fox, 34, had tried to intervene in the disturbance and died after being punched.

Elijah Henry, 25, a Radford resident, was arrested at a property in Findern Green, Bakersfield on September 19, 2019, where police smashed a toilet downpipe and uncovered a plastic bag with crack cocaine and heroin, plus more drugs from a blocked sewer pipe, cash, mobile phones, weighing scales indicating drug dealing. In July 2022, the City Knife Crime Team found more Class A drugs in his car after forcing entry; a search of a nearby address revealed a large haul of drugs, phones, and dealing equipment.
Initially pleaded not guilty but later admitted to possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, and four further Class A drug charges. Refused to answer police questions. Described as a career criminal.

On 14 December 2023, Jake Searson, 27, of Main Road, Jacksdale, was driving a van along the A608 Alfreton Road, Underwood, veered onto the wrong side of the road while turning into Mansfield Road, failing to notice a 40-year-old motorcyclist with lights on and high-visibility jacket. The collision caused severe life-changing injuries including brain bleed, amputation of right arm and leg; victim requires 24-hour care, constant pain, unable to work. CCTV shown in court; described as reckless driving. Searson pleaded with medics to save the victim.
Pleaded guilty. No previous convictions. Disqualified from driving for three years, 240 hours unpaid work, £750 court costs. Judge James Sampson noted remorse but highlighted lifelong impact on victim.
Keenan Savage
Arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered *

Keenan Savage lit a blaze in his second floor flat in Augustine Gardens, Bestwood, on 8 November 2023, and fled the scene without alerting neighbours, putting dozens of neighbouring families at risk. Three days later, he called police claiming he had visited his flat for the first time in a month and discovered it gutted by fire. Detectives unravelled his story using CCTV footage showing him at the scene around the time the fire was lit. Fire investigators concluded the fire was deliberately ignited by naked flame in the kitchen and living room, likely using an accelerant.
Pleaded guilty to arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. Also admitted theft from an address in Bestwood on 25 August.

Shenaj helped transport the boat Aquaholic from Poole to Brightlingsea Marina in Essex with Rice. Cell site data showed he was in the Essex area when the boat returned from Belgium.
Pleaded guilty on 1 August. Acted as the conduit between mainland Europe based facilitators and the UK. From Nottingham.

Joshua Peake, a doctor who qualified in 2014 and worked at Royal Derby Hospital, was caught by activist group TFN UK posing as a 14-year-old boy online. He discussed sexual matters and sent photos and videos over about a month. The group located and detained him on 15 September 2019 before calling police. Police searched his house and found 13 indecent images of children and 26 extreme pornographic images depicting sexual activity with animals on his laptops.
Admitted possessing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornographic images, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to cause a child to look at an image of sexual activity. Later struck off medical register by MPTS.
Jason Clark

Jason Clark, 35, formerly of Bilborough, and his brother preyed on six vulnerable children over 25 years from the late 1990s, subjecting them to sexual assaults including indecent assaults and rapes. The offences only ended after reports to police. Both denied the allegations but were convicted following a three-and-a-half-week trial ending 9 September 2021.

John Ashley assisted Mark Martin in the murders of Katie Baxter, with whom he was in a violent relationship and who went missing in December 2004, and Zoe Pennick, last seen on 31 December 2004. He was present during the strangling of Ellen Frith on 24 January 2005 but charges dropped for that murder.

Pleaded guilty to rape and not guilty to sexual activity with a child but was convicted by a jury. Ordered to sign the Sex Offender Register for 10 years and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order limiting internet activity and contact with girls under 16.

Mark Martin strangled 25-year-old Ellen Frith to death on 24 January 2005 in a derelict flat in Marple Road, Nottingham, then stuck a syringe in her leg and set fire to the property. He also strangled 18-year-old Katie Baxter and 26-year-old Zoe Pennick between 30 December 2004 and 6 January 2005 near his tent. Bodies of Pennick and Baxter were found under rubble next to his tent in February 2005.

Mark Reap, formerly of Bath Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, targeted two teenage girls on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2018, raping and sexually abusing them. He bought gifts to try to persuade his victims to keep quiet. The offences came to light when one victim told her teacher. Reap was arrested in January 2019 but continued to deny the offences until pleading guilty at the start of his trial on August 2.
Pleaded guilty to seven separate offences at the start of his trial: five counts of rape and two of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Described as a 'manipulative' sex offender by the judge. Added to the Sex Offender Register for life and made subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

Mark Shephard groomed and abused two young girls on multiple occasions in Nottinghamshire, with abuse dating back more than a decade. Victims confided in others in December 2021 and gave evidence in court. He pressured them to remain silent.

Police arrested him after finding him slumped in his kitchen.

Mason Jeffrey, of Bathurst Drive, Bilborough, updated his Facebook status on November 29, 2025, saying 'everyone is going to get crushed' in reference to his ex-partner whom he had previously assaulted. He sent a voice note and message to her friend threatening to 'chop up' her and her new partner, and to 'smack his head in'. This breached a two-year suspended sentence from February 2025 for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a five-year restraining order.
Pleaded guilty to breaching suspended sentence and restraining order. Had 19 previous convictions for 31 offences. Judge Rosalind Coe KC noted serious breach despite new relationship.

Lisa Barlow, aged 45, of High Cross Leys, assisted an offender after the murder of Davices Anderson on 28 April 2023. She was present in the flat during the fatal stabbing by Courtney McLeary and David Francis, stepped over the injured Davices with McLeary before leaving the building, then attended addresses of Gregory Bailey and Danny O’Keefe, leaving her blood-stained coat at Bailey’s house.

Paul Billingham

Paul Billingham deposited waste at three illegal sites: Oakham Farm, Forest Lane, near Walesby; Hathernware Industrial Estate, Rempstone Road, Normanton-on-the-Soar; and Horse Leys Farm, Melton Road, Burton on the Wolds. CCTV footage from Horse Leys Farm showed him driving an articulated lorry and trailer to deposit waste on 13 occasions between the end of August and September 2016.
Pleaded guilty to depositing waste at the three sites.

On January 19, 2024, around 8pm in Sneinton, police heard Natma Mahnoor revving her Mercedes engine and followed the vehicle due to suspicion and smell of cannabis. At a red light, officers saw her mobile phone on her lap playing a video. When instructed to pull over and searched, she restarted the engine, reversed with an officer hanging out of the window trying to stop her, then drove forward while resisting. She refused a drugs swipe at the scene and later at the station, also refusing blood sample. Arrested and charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to provide a sample for analysis.
Initially charged with dangerous driving but accepted lesser charges. Judge Nirmal Shant KC noted her driving fell just below dangerous driving and she deliberately refused drugs swipe due to dislike of police engagement. One previous conviction for driving offences including using fraudulent driving documentation.
Nicholas Smith
Raping a girl under the age of 13 *

Nicholas Smith, 44, of Oakenhall Avenue, Hucknall, preyed upon a young girl and raped her up to six times over a five-month period between January and June 2022, warning her not to tell anyone or they would both go to prison. He also sexually assaulted the girl, forced her to watch sexual acts and send him indecent images of herself. The investigation began when the girl revealed what happened to friends and teachers.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, sexual assault of a child, causing a child to look at sexual activity and two counts of making an indecent image of a child. Will serve a further five years on licence after release. Subject to a restraining order banning contact with the victim for life and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

Umair Karim and Muhammed Hassan engaged in mobile phone exchanges discussing the procurement and use of a handgun. Hassan approached Karim to secure a firearm, using the nickname 'Doctor'. Karim bragged about access to firearms including a Mac 11 machine pistol and AK-47. Messages also discussed drug dealing. Discovered during unrelated police investigation; warrant led to phone evidence.
Aged 27, of Serpentine Road, Bradford. Admitted conspiracy to transfer a firearm and being concerned in the supply of class A, class B and class C drugs. Declined to answer questions during interview.
Paul Riina-Moretti
Operating a waste facility without an Environmental permit *

Paul Riina-Moretti operated three illegal waste sites: Oakham Farm, Forest Lane, near Walesby in north Nottinghamshire; Hathernware Industrial Estate, Rempstone Road, Normanton-on-the-Soar; and Horse Leys Farm, Melton Road, Burton on the Wolds. A major fire broke out at Oakham Farm in autumn 2016, taking over a month to extinguish, forcing a mother and child to move out temporarily due to smoke, destroying two poultry units, and incurring £478,000 clean-up costs for the landowner. Waste was deposited in vast quantities without an Environmental Permit and with no real plan for processing.
Disqualified from acting as a company director for seven years. Pleaded guilty to three offences of operating a waste facility without an Environmental permit.
Robert Davies
Computer Misuse Act offences, voyeurism and possession of indecent images of children *

Robert Davies illegally accessed a number of victims’ devices using cyber crime tools including crypters and remote administration tools (RATs) purchased online, disguising malware to evade anti-virus detection. He spied on victims remotely, stealing sexual images mainly of females, including spying on a teenage girl through her webcam to create indecent images. Officers recovered 27 indecent images and videos of children, plus extreme pornographic images on his computer. He used fake online profiles to contact victims via messaging apps and send malicious links. Over 30 victims identified. Arrested three times between November 2019 and August 2021.
Pleaded guilty to 24 Computer Misuse Act offences, voyeurism, three counts of possessing indecent images of children, making indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images. Placed on the sex offenders’ register, given a 10 year restraining order on five of the victims and a 10 year sexual harm prevention order.

Russell Yeomans committed a series of rapes and sexual assaults against teen girls and children over four decades in South Normanton (Derbyshire), Nottinghamshire, and Norfolk. Abuse began as young as age seven for one victim, culminating in three rapes when she was a teenager. He was caught after sending an explicit image to a schoolgirl in 2019, leading to investigations and further victims coming forward.
Pleaded guilty to causing a child to watch/look at an image of sexual activity and inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity. Found guilty after a two-week trial of 14 charges. Must serve at least 14 years before parole.

Richard Barlow

Richard Barlow, a pervert music teacher, gave two underage girls cocaine and sexually assaulted them by penetrating their vaginas in a tent at the Rock and Blues Festival at Coney Grey Showground in Pentrich near Belper, Derbyshire. He was also found to have indecent images of children. One victim was left suicidal, depressed and anxious; the other constantly relives the experience.
Sentenced by Recorder Michael Auty QC for eight offences. Mitigated by Sarah Phelan. Judge noted the vulnerability of the victims due to their age and the premeditated nature of giving them cocaine.
Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor, aged 55, of Exchange Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, assaulted multiple boys and girls in Nottingham over a 20-year period, mostly by putting his hands under their clothing. Had sex with a third underage girl on two occasions.
Pleaded guilty to several counts of assault by penetration and sexual activity with a child, two counts of inciting a child into sexual activity, two counts of attempted rape of a child, and paying for the sexual services of a child. Must serve a minimum of two thirds. Given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order preventing contact with girls under 16, ordered to sign the sex offender register for life, and banned from working with children. Showed no remorse.

Samuel Smith, aged 34, of North Muskham, fraudulently sold vehicles through his businesses Your Car Now, Your Car Supermarket, SC Motor Group and Your Car Centre between June 2018 and September 2020. He failed to disclose that the vehicles had been involved in collisions and were often Category D ‘write off’ cars. Customers experienced breakdowns, needed significant repairs costing thousands, false claims of RAC breakdown cover, and one car falsely represented as UK registered. In one case, an airbag had been disconnected. Proceeds funded a lavish lifestyle including overseas holidays to Dubai and Monaco, luxury cars like a Ferrari, and property maintenance.
Found guilty of conspiracy to defraud following a trial. Ordered to pay £23,614 in compensation. Investigation by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Trading Standards team.

Sarel Van Der Merwe, aged 41, of Carter Lane, Mansfield, sexually abused an underage girl on three occasions. He kissed and sucked her breasts, touched her vagina and got her to masturbate him to ejaculation. The abuse left the victim paralysed by fear, haunted by hallucinations, seeing him as a black figure, leading to self-harm attempts and the removal of mirrors from the home. It ruined her childhood.
Pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, and two charges of causing a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity. Sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. Of previous good character. Judge Gregory Dickinson QC: 'This is serious sexual abuse. You used her as a sexual plaything. It has ruined her childhood.'

Tony Clough, 65, of Sharratt Court, Mansfield, raped and sexually assaulted five boys, subjecting two to a campaign of sexual abuse. He was found guilty of 15 offences including rape, rape of a child and sexual assault of a child, but not guilty of a further count of rape of a child under 13. Victims were left scarred for life, with some suffering drug abuse problems.
Found guilty of 15 offences. Judge Stuart Rafferty QC branded him a 'disgrace' and said each victim would be scarred for life.
