On April 2, 2025, at her home on Oatfield Lane in Litherland, Lauren Sankey, after consuming half a bottle of Absolut vodka, accused her friend Harriet Burrows of stealing her cannabis stash during a birthday celebration. Sankey entered a rage, armed herself with a 7-inch kitchen knife, lunged at Burrows multiple times causing scratches to her arms, threatened to kill her, locked the door to prevent escape, and later threatened to kill Burrows' father. After police were called, Sankey assaulted detention officer Alexandra Hamilton by kicking her several times, causing bruising, while resisting search at Copy Lane Police Station. She was interviewed the same day at Marsh Lane Police Station and expressed remorse for the assault on the emergency worker, attributing it to alcohol consumption.
Pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, threatening with an offensive weapon, and assaulting an emergency worker. Court noted realistic chance of rehabilitation due to progress in the last 12 months, engagement with drug agency and social services, and consideration of her two young children. Prior record includes three assaults between 2007 and 2020.
