Robert Trandafir
Wounding without intent *
Sentence
21 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years, with 300 hours unpaid work, 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement, and 12-month mental health treatment requirement
On 25 October 2024 at a shared house on Greyhound Farm Road in Speke, Robert Trandafir attacked housemate Sergio Dolbneac after a row over a chair not being tucked under the kitchen table. Trandafir shouted insults about Moldovans, threatened the victim, then retrieved a telescopic truncheon from his car. When Dolbneac later left his room, Trandafir punched him, dragged him by the neck, repeatedly hit him in the head with the truncheon, pushed him into a wall breaking a mirror, and attempted to stab him in the face with a broken plate shard. The attack stopped when Trandafir saw the victim bleeding heavily. Dolbneac suffered a concussion and a head wound requiring staples.
Found guilty by jury of wounding without intent and possession of an offensive weapon. Claimed self-defence and falsely asserted the truncheon was a hiking pole; judge described the claim as ludicrous. Both Fisher and his innocent father were arrested. In custody, Fisher had a medical episode and was taken to Warrington Hospital, where he produced £500 cash from his pants. Fisher admitted consuming significant drugs at the time and had been in a downward spiral after family bereavements, despite prior stable life as a landscape gardener with contact with his nine-year-old daughter.
Pleaded guilty. Has 23 previous convictions for 47 offences, including 40 months for possession of cocaine with intent to supply in 2022.
