Sentence: 6 years imprisonment
On December 7, 2024, Jack Tyler, while under the influence of cocaine and cannabis, engaged in a violent altercation at his family home on Cobham Road, Moreton. He punched his mother, Patricia Tyler, in the face, causing blinding pain, black eyes, and frequent vomiting. He then fought with his father, Joseph Tyler, grabbed a knife from his father's pocket, and stabbed him 12 times in the flank, thigh, left chest, armpit, and other areas, leading to a fractured rib, bleeding to the eye, and severe injuries requiring emergency surgery and critical care at St Mary's Hospital in Warrington. Tyler fled the scene but was arrested 12 hours later, claiming self-defence, though the judge determined his actions exceeded this. The incident stemmed from a deteriorating relationship and prior violence, leaving both victims with lasting physical and psychological effects, including mobility issues, constant pain, and fear for safety.
