Our Purpose
We are an independent information service that collects and organises court sentencing outcomes already reported in the public domain across England and Wales. Our aim is to make open justice information easier to find and understand.
We are not affiliated with any governmental organisation, court system, or legal body. Our role is purely to aggregate and present information that has already been published elsewhere.
Important Notice: We are not an official governmental website or judicial organisation. We operate independently, compiling sentencing information from published media reports and other publicly available sources.

Who We Are
Court Sentences UK is a trading name of Search Ventures Ltd (Company No. 10588553), a registered company in England and Wales. We build tools that gather and organise public records, and we operate this service with a focus on accuracy, source attribution, and the rights of the people named in the reports we index.
Our Data & Methodology
Our records come from published media reports by local and national news outlets, together with other publicly available sources. We use automated collection with screening rules and editorial oversight, and we attribute the original source for every entry.
Our screening is designed to keep certain information off the site entirely. We do not publish material that appears to be subject to reporting restrictions or anonymity orders, we do not name victims, witnesses, or their family members, and we do not list defendants who were under 18 when sentenced. We also monitor reported appeal outcomes so that records affected by a successful appeal can be corrected or removed.
Offence descriptions reflect the wording used in the original reporting and may not match the formal legal charge. Our database covers both Crown Courts and Magistrates' Courts across England and Wales, and records are updated regularly.

Listing Duration and Removal
Listings are not permanent. We operate a delisting policy based on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974: entries are removed from public view once the conviction is likely to be spent, and all entries are delisted after a maximum listing period regardless of outcome.
If you believe any information on our site is inaccurate, relates to a successful appeal, is subject to reporting restrictions, concerns the wrong person, names a victim or witness, or relates to a spent conviction, you can submit a removal request directly from the relevant court page. Every request is reviewed by a person and we aim to respond within 5 working days. Requests involving reporting restrictions, named victims or witnesses, or mistaken identity are treated as urgent.
