He arranged for other girls to be available for other men and took one victim to a flat where she was abused by six strangers. The case was investigated after a victim reported the abuse.

David Croly

On October 18, 2024, David Croly, 42, of Ludlow Avenue, Salford, became violent at Banyan bar in Manchester city centre's Corn Exchange after being refused toilet access as a non-paying customer. He punched a staff member in the shoulder, fell over, pestered two women causing them to leave, smashed plates and glasses outside, picked up a sharp object, approached a group of men, and stabbed one in the neck five times, causing a small wound. He then challenged and attempted to punch another man who intervened. Croly was arrested later that day and kicked at officers during detention.
Pleaded guilty. Has 16 previous convictions for 29 offences, including possession of an offensive weapon (rock in a sock), racially aggravated harassment, and possession of a knife. Previously handed a community order for assault of an emergency worker.
Abdul Khaliq

On June 28, 2023, at around 6.30pm, Abdul Khaliq, 32, of Collingwood Way, was driving a Vauxhall at excessive speed under the influence of cocaine (taken the previous day) along Stockport Road in Oldham. He failed to slow down, brake, or give way at a four-way junction with clear markings, crashing into a BMW carrying passenger Cameron Khan and his cousin. The impact destroyed Khaliq's vehicle and caved in the passenger side of the BMW. Khan suffered severe injuries including multiple left-side rib fractures, bruising to kidney and lungs, fractured pelvis, and required emergency spleen removal; he was in intensive care and hospital for a month, impacting his active lifestyle with ongoing pain and mobility issues. Khaliq sustained a fractured rib and burn, admitted to police he missed the markings and should have concentrated more, attributing the incident to being 'silly'.
Previously pleaded guilty. Judge Joanne Woodward noted the highly dangerous manner of driving and devastating damage caused. Prior offences disregarded as already dealt with, but presence of passenger worsened position. Defendant had been to drug rehab in Bangladesh.

Philip Brown was involved in the operation of the ‘Taz’ drugs line in Stockport, which advertised and supplied crack cocaine and heroin to addicts. The line sent over 12,000 flare messages over five months from January to May 2025. Brown took orders and occasionally bagged drugs but did not physically supply to users. He used the drugs line phone to call police about bail and to order taxis. Small amounts of drugs, scales, and debtors lists were recovered from his home in Dunton Towers, Brinnington, Stockport. He became involved after accruing a drug debt, being attacked, and having his family threatened.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. No previous convictions for drug dealing. Involved due to coercion after being attacked and family threats. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Judge Maurice Greene emphasized the serious nature of the offending and the damage caused by drugs.

On July 26, 2024, in Bolton, Andrew McEwan, 38, opportunistically stole Vincent Gavin's Citroen Berlingo van while it was left running with keys in the ignition. As Gavin attempted to stop him by grabbing hold, McEwan threatened him with a box cutter, saying 'Get away from me or I’ll f****** slash you,' and drove off, dragging Gavin along the road for 5-10 seconds over about 60 metres. Gavin suffered grazing injuries. The van was later found parked on Mere Hall Close, a mile away, with items discarded. Gavin recovered CCTV footage, identified McEwan with help from locals, and provided details to police leading to his arrest.
Pleaded guilty to robbery, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and burglary. Had been out of trouble for ten years prior, recently working as a mobile smart repair technician, but relationship breakdown and job loss preceded the offence. Expressed remorse.
Nicholas Martin

Nicholas Martin, aged 63, stalked his wife Emma Martin for several days before arriving at her home in Montonmill Gardens, Eccles, in the early hours of October 21, 2024. He poured petrol through the letterbox and set the property alight while she was asleep on the first floor. Ms Martin was woken by the sounds, attempted to rescue her cat but was forced to leap from her bedroom window to escape, suffering broken ankles and a fractured vertebra. She spent months wheelchair-bound and still uses crutches. Martin fled to a hotel in Windermere, Lake District, where he was arrested the next day with a petrol can in his room. The couple met via a dating app in 2019, married quickly, but in August 2021 during a Scotland trip, he assaulted her viciously, causing bruising; they reconciled, but she reported it in 2024 after flashbacks, leading to his arrest and bail conditions prohibiting contact. Their cat TC died in the fire.
Pleaded not guilty but convicted by jury of attempted murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Judge Maurice Greene described the attack as wicked, planned, and premeditated. Defence noted that given his age, he may die in prison. Indefinite restraining order issued. To serve two-thirds behind bars.
Carl Bullock

On a Friday evening, Carl Bullock, driving an HGV lorry on the M62 eastbound between junctions 21 and 22 near Rochdale, failed to notice the stationary Ford Transit van of Gary Lubuska which had broken down in the slow lane at 60mph. Bullock was reaching for an item in his glove compartment and did not slow down despite warnings from another driver. The lorry ploughed into the back of the van, throwing it across the carriageway into the central reservation. Lubuska suffered serious neck and head injuries, was knocked unconscious, spent eight days in hospital, and underwent numerous operations.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving. Judge Neil Usher noted the most likely cause was reaching into the glove compartment, a salutary reminder of not paying attention while driving. Defence stated it was a momentary error and he is utterly mortified.

On August 18, 2024, Benjamin Obinim, 23, of Barnard Road, Gorton, attacked his family members with a knife at their home, believing his mother Alberta Obinim, 43, and sister Bernice Obinim, 18, were witches who had implanted something in his chest. He first attacked Bernice in her bedroom, then stabbed his father Joshua Obinim, 64, and mother as they tried to flee. The violence spilled into the street in front of neighbours. Alberta sustained 16-17 stab wounds and died at the scene. Joshua suffered multiple stab wounds to face, torso, and limbs, requiring ongoing treatment. Bernice had stab wounds to face, neck, thigh, and chest, needing plastic surgery. Obinim was arrested nearby with the blood-stained knife and has been at Ashworth hospital since, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

She then began a relentless four-year campaign of cyberstalking, posting false accusations on social media platforms, including claims that Mr Burton poisoned her cat, had affairs, was a sex offender, harassed and abused her over a decade, was raided by police, issued with a stalking protection order, imprisoned for nine years, and had a psychopathic twin brother covering for him. She also harassed businesswoman Naomi Timperley, 53, from Sale, for around three years with lies and defamation. The campaign ruined the victims' reputations, caused mental health issues requiring medication, led to the collapse of Mr Burton's business network and insolvency of his primary business, and left them feeling hopeless and broken.
Initially denied improper use of a public electronic communication network and two counts of stalking, but changed pleas to guilty on the day her trial was due to begin in November last year. Judge Neil Usher accepted she was suffering from a chronic and enduring delusional disorder but stated it could not completely explain or excuse her behaviour.

Arran Donnelly was driving an Audi A3 with three passengers, including Ryan Evans, when he inhaled nitrous oxide and drove at excessive speeds in a 30mph residential area. Witnesses reported aggressive acceleration and speeds up to 70-80mph. Police found nitrous oxide balloons and canisters in the car, and driver error was determined as the cause.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. No previous convictions. Recently became a father. Judge noted his use of nitrous oxide as an aggravating factor.
