Robert Hall, 37, of Wellington Street in Cheltenham, committed two robberies in 2025. On September 25, 2025, he threatened a shopkeeper at Premier Stores on Bath Road with a knife, demanding the till be opened and saying 'I'll stab you if you don't', stealing £119 cash and 11 packets of cigarettes worth £162.69. He was arrested the next day and granted conditional bail at Gloucester Magistrates' Court on September 27, 2025. On October 11, 2025, while under curfew, he entered Paddy Power on Cheltenham High Street at 8.10pm, jumped the counter, demanded money, punched the worker repeatedly causing serious concussion, bruising, swelling, and psychological harm including flashbacks and fear of returning to work. He stole £560. A third robbery occurred on August 2, 2025, at Iceland supermarket where he punched staff while fleeing.
Admitted two counts of robbery. 17 previous convictions including a 2006 knife-point robbery. Mitigating factors include childhood abuse, mental health issues, anxiety, OCD, drug use from age 15, recent relationship breakdown, loss of job and contact with daughter. Aggravating and mitigating features balanced. To be released after serving up to half the sentence. Three other offences taken into consideration.
