He made arrangements for a friend to care for his dog beforehand, tied loops in the lace to create a ligature, and attacked her after learning she had filed for divorce. He left the house, locked the doors from the inside, and later confessed to his son and via a 999 call. The victim had bruising to her face and broken ribs.
Pleaded guilty to murder. Judge Stuart Rafferty KC noted there was no justification for the crime and that it was in his own warped mind. Defence stated he killed his wife due to perceived emotional suffering and mental health issues.

On May 6, 2024, Graham McCarthy, aged 43, of Denstone Road, near St Ann's, was spotted riding an e-scooter along Carlton Road in Nottingham by two officers on electric bikes. Believed to have links to the local drug supply, he was holding a roll-up cigarette and instructed to pull over but instead led a 20mph pursuit through St Ann's and the city centre, swearing at officers, swerving through traffic and pedestrians, running a red light, and driving towards a bus causing it to brake sharply. He lost control at the junction of Lower Parliament Street by the Victoria Centre, fell off the scooter, was caught and arrested. He was found in possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, criminal damage, and possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Adedapo Adegbola, 40, stabbed 23-year-old Stephanie Irons to death in her flat at Westdale Lane West, Mapperley, Nottingham, on the evening of October 21, 2023. He had been in a brief relationship with her but became obsessed and controlling after it ended. Adegbola purchased two knives on October 16, 2023, waited near her address after work on October 22, entered her home, and inflicted devastating injuries, including a fatal knife wound to her neck that severed her jugular vein. He sat on her sofa as she lay dying, locked the door, discarded evidence including the knife, his shoes, shirt, her keys, and phone while fleeing, and self-inflicted wounds before handing himself in the next day. The attack occurred in her own home where she felt safe, and he had sent humiliating messages to her work colleagues.
Admitted to murder on January 26. Judge Nirmal Shant KC noted the defendant's obsession, controlling behaviour, and intent to kill, causing profound devastation to the victim's family.

He acted after holding a grievance over rubbish left in an alleyway, drank several cans of lager beforehand, and watched the fire take hold while ignoring the family's screams, leading to the victims' deaths from smoke inhalation.
The sentencing judge, Mrs Justice Tipples, stated that the defendant showed no genuine remorse and was sure he intended to kill the victims. The sentence was later reduced to a minimum of 38 years on appeal, but the original term is referenced here.

One victim received messages including the name of her home town, a picture of hydrochloric acid and a message featuring her road name.

Elijah Henry, 25, a Radford resident, was arrested at a property in Findern Green, Bakersfield on September 19, 2019, where police smashed a toilet downpipe and uncovered a plastic bag with crack cocaine and heroin, plus more drugs from a blocked sewer pipe, cash, mobile phones, weighing scales indicating drug dealing. In July 2022, the City Knife Crime Team found more Class A drugs in his car after forcing entry; a search of a nearby address revealed a large haul of drugs, phones, and dealing equipment.
Initially pleaded not guilty but later admitted to possessing crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, and four further Class A drug charges. Refused to answer police questions. Described as a career criminal.
