He dragged her into the hallway and pointed a knife at her in her home, causing chaos. The victim, who had lived in her house for 10 years, felt broken inside, anxious, and jumpy, stopping showering, caring for her appearance, and changing bedclothes. She now feels unable to stay in her home due to traumatic memories.
Pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and other offences. 10-year restraining order issued. Remanded in prison for past six months prior to sentencing.

He refused to let her go to hospital, used Sellotape on her wounds, and told her to keep the attack secret. On June 30, 2025, after drinking vodka, he kicked her several times in the stomach and face during another argument. The victim reported constant nightmares, fear like facing 'the Incredible Hulk', and is seeking safe housing through Nottingham City Council. Gray had recently been released from a six-year sentence for a 2018 robbery where he threatened a woman with a machete in her home in front of her child.

Longbottom was using the built-in touch screen to turn off fog lights, failing to pay attention to the road, with his eyes off the road for approximately four seconds prior to the collision. The lorry crashed into the stationary vehicle, striking Danny and causing serious head injuries. Danny was treated in intensive care for 18 days at Queen’s Medical Centre but died on December 30, 2024. Police investigation revealed Longbottom had used his mobile phone minutes before to send Facebook messages and make calls, though not at the exact time of the crash. Internal cab CCTV captured him looking down for prolonged periods.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving on January 6. Disqualified from driving for 5 years. Judge Rupert Mayo commented on the tragic nature of the case and the defendant's failure to observe the hazard due to eyes off the road for at least four seconds.

He also admitted drugging his wife, a camp volunteer, to avoid detection.

On May 5, 2025, Simon McHugh tied up a woman and child at an address in Ripley, Derbyshire, using a dressing gown cord and tape, before leaving. On May 6, 2025, he travelled to Nottingham, where he stabbed driver Adam Suleman over 50 times in a frenzied attack inside and outside a moving car on Westdale Lane, Carlton, causing the vehicle to crash into a wall near the Co-op. McHugh told Suleman 'you know you’re going to die today' before the assault. He then fled, broke into a couple's home in Burton Joyce, and admitted to doing something bad. Suleman survived after multiple operations at QMC, suffering profound impacts including flashbacks and difficulty with daily tasks.
Pleaded guilty to attempted murder, burglary, and false imprisonment. Judge Mark Watson noted the frenzied and sustained attack with no apparent motive. Has 12 previous convictions for 25 offences. Described as a model prisoner since remand.
Fred Matthew

Fred Matthew, aged 49, of Chalfont Drive, Aspley, Nottingham, subjected his ex-partner to emotional and physical abuse for over eight years, including violence while she was pregnant. He treated her with absolute contempt, almost making her a prisoner in her own home by monitoring her movements via mobile tracking apps and CCTV. In August 2025, he strangled her with both hands after she received a call from her sister, shaking her by the neck and causing her to struggle to breathe. He threatened to 'chop up' her father and to pay someone to set fire to her sister's house. After the relationship ended, he bombarded her with messages, calls, and voice notes. Arrested in March 2025 after returning from Iraq via Heathrow Airport, he breached bail conditions by continuing contact and attempted further contact from custody.
Pleaded guilty to engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour and intentional strangulation. Judge Stuart Rafferty KC described him as a 'monster' created by refusing mental health medication and abusing drugs and alcohol. Subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
Paige Tomlinson

On May 6, 2025, Paige Tomlinson, a close friend of Simon McHugh, discussed and agreed to assist in a plan to rob, kidnap, and torture Adam Suleman. She booked an Uber for McHugh to travel to Suleman's address in Gedling. The plan culminated in McHugh's attempted murder of Suleman later that evening in Carlton. Tomlinson was involved in encouraging the offence but later contacted police, leading to McHugh's arrest outside his home.
Pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender to commit kidnap. Assisted McHugh by booking an Uber and discussing the plan, believing it involved robbery, kidnap, and torture of victim. Ultimately called police to report McHugh's location. Has four previous convictions for nine offences.

Found at a Bulwell property with drugs, his fingerprints on heroin and crack cocaine containers, and texts showing enforcement role; also admitted punching a man unconscious in November 2024 causing GBH.

In Operation Drawbridge, police found 299.67g cocaine worth £28,000, 1.645kg cannabis worth £17,000, and 407g phenacetin cutting agent; he attempted to flee arrest.

Andrew Fitzgerald, 35, of Leybourne Drive, Bestwood, led the huge drugs operation transporting hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of class A drugs across Nottinghamshire between January 2023 and July 2024, using stash houses in Bulwell and Bestwood to store drugs and weapons including knives and a crossbow. He was arrested in July 2024 while attempting to flee the county along the A617 near Newark.
Head of the operation, arranged purchase of at least 16 kilos of heroin and cocaine, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine).
