On 18 October 2025 at around 8:30 am, Nomazwe Moyo, 35, of Eltham Close, Broxtowe, was driving her Vauxhall Mokka at approximately 60 mph in a 30 mph zone along Nuthall Road and A610 Bobbers Mill Bridge in Nottingham. She was dangerously overtaking vehicles, forcing an off-duty police officer to take evasive action, and clipped the wing mirror of another car before crashing into the back of Muhammad Aftab Ahmad’s moped. The collision knocked Ahmad into oncoming traffic, killing him instantly. Moyo’s car did not stop; she continued and crashed into the back of a taxi, then veered into oncoming traffic, narrowly missing a bus stop and causing other drivers to swerve, before a head-on collision with a fourth vehicle, where she was arrested. Moyo had been advised by her doctor seven months earlier not to drive for 12 months due to epilepsy and to inform the DVLA, though no evidence of a seizure at the time. She initially claimed no memory of the fatal crash but after seeing CCTV admitted excessive speed. She pleaded guilty in February 2026 to causing death by dangerous driving and driving while uninsured.

David Onigbanjo, 27, was stopped by police in Mansfield Road, Arnold, on 6 March 2026 after his Volkswagen Golf was seen speeding. He admitted carrying cash and two phones, and agreed to a search. When officers noticed a bundle hidden in his jogging bottoms containing more than 80 wraps of heroin and cocaine, Onigbanjo attempted to flee by scrambling over a nearby hedge. Officers quickly caught him and recovered the drugs.

She did not comply but had sent indecent images to other sex offenders. He also engaged in sexual chat with an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl in December 2023, asking for naughty pictures. Police found 103 indecent images of children (pre-teen to young teenagers) and extreme pornography on his phones.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause or incite a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of making indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography. One previous conviction for attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16 following sexual grooming. Sentenced on his 46th birthday. Will be on the sex offender register for life and handed a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.

Peter Parker, a 60-year-old Lincolnshire farmer of The Clays, Brant Broughton, targeted livestock markets including Newark Livestock Market, Hereford Livestock Market and Penrith and District Farmers Mart between 2016 and 2023. He arrived late at night with a lorry load of sheep, swapping them for higher quality sheep or stealing them outright. During summer 2017, he stole almost 650 sheep from Newark market worth at least £23,000, plus 50 from Penrith and 23 from Hereford. CCTV footage showed his activities.
Pleaded guilty to regulatory offences of failing to notify authorities of cattle movements or deaths; found guilty of eight offences under Schedule 51 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1988, including failures to properly identify sheep and causing unnecessary suffering to sheep. Between February and October 2025, Nigel Jackson, 57, subjected a woman to months of controlling and coercive behaviour in Nottingham, restricting her movements, finances, and access to her mobile phone. The abuse escalated to a knife attack in August 2025 in which he strangled her, causing serious injuries including loss of consciousness and deep defensive wounds. He was arrested after the attack, denied the allegations, and remained silent in police interviews. Following a trial in April 2026, he was sentenced on 7 May 2026.

He controlled her by checking her phone, accusing her of cheating, stopping her from seeing friends, and monitoring her social media. After the relationship ended, he continued to threaten her via messages. The woman reported him to police at the end of 2023.
Denied the offences but was found guilty after a trial in December 2025. Handed a restraining order preventing contact with the victim for 10 years.

Police were called after they were seen coming and going. A police dog handler spotted Foster walking away from the garage. PD Max was deployed after Foster ignored instructions to stop, and he was found clambering on a car bonnet with the dog locked onto his foot. A search revealed multiple tools lined up by the house, an open garage door, and a discarded crowbar.

Clifton Patterson, aged 67, of Biko Square, Hyson Green, launched an unprovoked attack on a woman aged in her 40s at his home in Hyson Green in the early hours of 9 June 2025 after returning from a night out in Nottingham. He struck her on the head as she lay in bed, threw her around the room, held her by the throat and repeatedly punched and kicked her. The victim managed to escape and call the police. Patterson was arrested and gave no-comment answers in custody.

Cherno Jagne, a 49-year-old accountancy graduate and taxi driver from Strelley, Nottingham, provided passport photos, payment and documentation to a serious organised crime group to facilitate the illegal entry of his cousin from Gambia into Manchester Airport. The offences occurred between late 2022 and early 2023. He initially believed it was legitimate but continued after realising it was illegal. He had been in custody on remand for six months prior to sentencing.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of doing an act to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigration law by a non-UK national. No previous convictions. Judge Michael Auty KC noted his good character since arriving in the UK in 2008, industrious work ethic, but criticised his decision to continue after realising the entry was unlawful.

David Kent, aged 43, of Albert Avenue, Jacksdale, came to the attention of the Road Crime Team at around 7.40 pm on Christmas Eve when his VW Caddy van was flagged as a vehicle of interest. Officers attempted to stop him on Alfreton Road, but he led them on an eight-minute high-speed pursuit, driving at more than twice the speed limit, entering a 30 mph zone at around 90 mph, and recklessly overtaking vehicles. He lost control attempting a right-hand turn at the junction of Stoney Lane and Mansfield Road, crashing into a garden fence. He was arrested and later explained he was heading home from a darts competition.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, and three counts of drug driving. Tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. No insurance and no driving licence.

Kash Brookes, a 34-year-old father-of-four from Thistledown Road, Clifton, was operating a sophisticated drug supply enterprise involving crystal meth, cocaine, ecstasy, cannabis, magic mushrooms, ketamine, tramadol, and other substances with a street value in the tens of thousands of pounds. He was stopped by police driving a grey Audi in Sneinton Boulevard on January 15, 2026, around 7.30pm, pulling over voluntarily into Lord Nelson Street and then Thurgarton Street, admitting to possessing cannabis and cocaine. A search revealed almost 2.5kg of cannabis, 17.21g of cocaine, 379 MDMA tablets, 369 2C-B tablets, magic mushrooms, and other drugs. Analysis of his mobile phone showed use of Telegram to advertise drugs for sale. Brookes had turned to dealing to pay off a £19,000 debt left by a deceased friend, after running a successful mobile phone repair business.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A, B and C drugs. Has 16 previous convictions for 34 offences including past jail terms for drugs. Recorder James Bide-Thomas noted the operation's scale and lack of insight into offending, but acknowledged his caring side and impact on his four children.
Mason Raynor

Mason Raynor, 37, of Meadow Close, Edwinstowe, stalked a woman between 15 December 2025 and 16 January 2026, causing serious alarm or distress. Despite being subject to a restraining order and a non-molestation order, he continued to contact the victim through handwritten letters, Christmas and birthday cards, phone calls, and text messages, including one card sent while in custody. The victim had blocked phone numbers but still received unwanted contact. He also breached two suspended sentence orders imposed on 20 November 2025 and 7 January 2026.
Pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress and breaching restraining order, non-molestation order, and two suspended sentence orders. A new five-year restraining order was imposed.

The victim suffered wounds to his chest and arm, with the chest injury puncturing the membrane around his heart; he collapsed in the street and required intensive care treatment.

Jamie Smith, a 31-year-old prisoner at HMP Lowdham Grange, attacked prison officers during a hospital visit to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on 9 January 2025 for treatment to a hand injury. After an X-ray, he became agitated when officers attempted to handcuff him, threatened them, and lunged at one officer with an improvised weapon (a toothbrush with a blade attached), slashing him behind the ear. He then headbutted and bit a second officer before slashing him on the back of the neck. He was restrained with help from hospital security.
Pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, attempted wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and attempting to escape custody. Described as an extremely violent offender.

Alexander McClymont, a 38-year-old from Nottingham, sexually abused a child on multiple occasions over a decade. The offences came to light in 2022 when the victim disclosed the abuse. He was investigated by Nottinghamshire Police and denied the charges but was tried at Nottingham Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty of nine serious sexual offences: eight counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of sexual assault. Jae Wynter Merrin, 27, of Isandula Road, Basford, Nottingham, engaged in a campaign of domestic abuse against a woman he had known for 15 years since school. In 2025, after a chance meeting in Nottingham city centre, they began a relationship and he moved into her home. He soon exhibited controlling behaviour, going through her phone and becoming physical most days, repeatedly strangling her to the point she could barely breathe, apologising, then repeating the abuse. On one occasion, after she returned from drinks with her mother while he was under the influence of drugs, he strangled her for around three hours. He forbade gifts from her family. After she became pregnant and ended the relationship, he stalked her, appearing on her dog walking route and on September 17, 2025, banging on her door. Rory Helps, 28, from Wycliffe Road, Alfreton, Derbyshire, was driving an Audi A3 after consuming five pints of alcohol and being a frequent cannabis user, with a small amount of the drug found in his car's glovebox. On June 6, 2025, just before 10.45pm, he was on the wrong side of Alfreton Road, Selston, causing a head-on collision with a Suzuki Swift driven by a 19-year-old woman. His breath test showed 100 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, almost three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms. The victim suffered a broken wrist and collar bone, impacting her studies and leaving her in pain for months. Helps was stumbling and slurring his words at the scene.
Admitted drink-driving, drug-driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and possession of a class B drug.

In February 2023, police executed warrants at his flat in Belconnen Road, Bestwood, where he climbed out of a first-floor window in boxer shorts and was chased and arrested. An Aldi carrier bag thrown into a garden contained heroin and crack cocaine worth up to £35,000. Additional seizures included controlled drugs, cash, a metal press for compressing drugs, £28,186 in cryptocurrency, and bank assets.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. Ran the drugs operation for six years.

In February 2023, during a police warrant at a house in Norton Street, Radford, where he was staying, he attempted to flush 104g of heroin worth £10,000 down a toilet, flooding the bathroom. Seizures included the heroin, cocaine and cannabis worth almost £12,000, two lock knives, a dagger, and a sheathed knife.

Connor Hopps was involved in selling cannabis, a class B drug, for nine months to fund his own drug habit. He was pulled over in a car in Nottingham on February 3, 2022, leading to a search of his address where a phone was found containing messages evidencing the supply. The case took over three-and-a-half years to reach court. At the time, he had no employment and was associating with negative peers, but he has since reformed, living at home and working at a petrol station.

Ashden Middleton

On January 28, 2026, at around 2.30am, police received a 999 call reporting a break-in at a house of multiple occupancy in Derbyshire Lane, Hucknall, where a room had been trashed and a man had been stabbed in the back. The stabbed man was taken to Queen's Medical Centre by ambulance. Ashden Middleton was arrested there, still in handcuffs, but he ran away from police, claiming 'I have not done anything'. Officers chased him to a nearby address but lost sight, and a police dog found him wedged between a shed and a fence on a driveway. He was then taken into custody.
Pleaded guilty to unlawful escape from custody. Breached existing suspended sentence order for affray and possession of a bladed article. Fined £200 for the breach. Judge James Sampson warned him about associating with bad people and encouraged him to sort his life out and get a job.
Ash Morningstar

Ash Morningstar, a 32-year-old care worker employed by Ardent Care, stole £32,974.04 from a blind, bed-bound ex-marine in his late 70s living in St Ann’s, Nottingham, over a 10-month period starting in 2022. He transferred money from the victim's account to his own and withdrew cash, spending it on OnlyFans subscriptions, Greggs, McDonald's, Primark, jewellery (£625 on March 6, 2023), airsoft equipment (£467 on April 17, 2023), and an Italian holiday. Morningstar arranged for a solicitor to visit the victim to discuss his will, though no charges relate to this. The victim, who considered Morningstar a friend, had set up online banking with his help but did not authorize the transfers. The fraud was discovered in June 2023 by the victim's social worker due to unexplained payments. The victim died after the events, leaving his remaining money to animal charities, and suffered deep psychological impact, becoming angry and distrustful.
Pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position. First-time offender. Mitigating factors include early guilty plea, remorse expressed in letters from defendant, mother, and partner. Judge described the offence as a sustained piece of wicked and dishonest behaviour against a vulnerable victim.
James Pedley
Grievous bodily harm with intent *

On October 11, 2025, James Pedley arranged to meet Mark Bonser in Morvern Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield, but a fight broke out. Pedley repeatedly stabbed Bonser in the torso and neck, also causing a fractured jaw and spine, leaving him bleeding on the ground near garages in Kensington Close. Pedley fled the scene in blood-soaked clothes, folding the knife and hiding it in his pocket. Bonser required emergency surgery and survived. Pedley was found hiding in a loft at a house in Dalestorth Street two days later.
Found guilty of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

On January 4, 2025, shortly before 11pm, Mattias Webb, aged 25, of Boscombe Road, Gateford, angrily beeped his horn and flashed his lights while tailgating an unmarked police vehicle in Worksop. Instead of stopping when officers activated hidden emergency lights, he overtook the vehicle and led police on a 2.5-mile chase through Worksop and Gateford in heavy rain, starting in Shireoaks Road and finishing in Boscombe Road. During the pursuit, he turned off his lights, reached speeds of 60mph in a 30mph zone, passed hundreds of residential properties, and drove through a red traffic light, endangering other road users. He headed to his home address where he was arrested after attempting to evade responsibility by running into the house and claiming he hadn't been driving, though dash cam footage captured him fleeing the van.
Banned from driving for three years. Must complete 120 hours unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days. Initially denied charges but changed plea to guilty on January 28.

The victim reported struggling to feel safe and sleep in her home since the incident.

Brett Carnelley, aged 37 and of no fixed abode, lured the victim to his workshop in Sneinton on October 10, 2023, by claiming he was struggling with his mental health. The victim disclosed the incident to a neighbour in January 2025, leading to a police investigation.

Blu Wright
