Joseph Crabbe and an accomplice broke into a property in Cliffe, Medway, at around 10.45pm on 19 July 2021. They were disturbed by the victim, whom they assaulted repeatedly with a snooker cue, stabbed his head with a screwdriver, held a knife to his neck, and bound his limbs with flex. They stole a watch, wallet, and obtained PIN numbers for bank cards after threatening the victim's dog. Crabbe's DNA was found on a hammer left at the scene, and the getaway car was traced via ANPR. He was arrested on 2 February 2022.
Pleaded guilty to robbery and being unlawfully at large (breaching licence conditions from previous conviction). Will serve at least two thirds before parole, followed by 3 years on licence.

Joseph Hoadley and Grant Searle stole an ATM from Northfleet Food and Wine on High Street using a Ford Transit van to ram raid the shop front on 28 November 2019, causing £11,000 damage. Hoadley entered the premises and attached a cord to the ATM which was pulled free. They also robbed staff at a Co-op in Talbot Lane, Ebbsfleet on 8 December 2019 using threats and a hammer to access the safe. Additionally, they committed burglaries targeting homes in Gravesend, Dartford and Meopham between 25 November and 4 December 2019, stealing vehicles, a car, an air rifle and a luxury watch.

Some victims were shown his false qualifications and noted he appeared sexually aroused during the treatments. Further victims were identified during the investigation into his bogus business.

They ran to a grey Range Rover driven by Bertil Baluba. Michael's blood was found at the scene, and CCTV linked him to the vehicle.

Jennifer Richards, a 50-year-old cleaner from Sittingbourne, befriended and stole around £50,000 from an elderly man in his 70s whom she cleaned for between October 2017 and February 2018. She used his bank details to transfer £28,325 from his online account to her own, made cash withdrawals totalling £4,540 using his bank card, and obtained a £9,000 loan by cheque which she banked after tricking him into also making a bank transfer of £9,000. The fraud was discovered on 21 February 2018 when his debit card was declined.
Found guilty of one count of fraud by false representation and one count of theft following a trial.

Wing, who was 61 when sentenced, was found guilty of sexually abusing two children, who were seven when the abuse began. He was also reportedly facing charges over the abuse of a third child. Police raided Wing's home discovering toys, motorised go-karts, water pistols, video games, and footage of Wing and another man, Brian Hogg, abusing children. Both were convicted of two counts of rape so severe the victims would have physical injuries for life.
Convicted of two counts of rape. Judge Andrew Patience stated neither Wing nor accomplice Brian Hogg would ever be safe to release. A very rare sentence for a crime other than murder. Hogg's sentence was later overturned.

Conspiracy to burgle *

Frank Matthews, Jimmy Price and Lewis Collins conspired to steal livery valued at around £100,000 at up to eight separate properties between 3 May and 17 May 2020. The gang targeted stables and other rural premises during the hours of darkness in areas including Faversham, Paddock Wood, East Peckham, Mereworth, Blue Bell Hill, Sittingbourne, Kemsing and Maidstone. Forcing open doors and disabling alarms, the men stole equine equipment before making off in vehicles, sometimes across open fields. After a break-in at stables near Bearsted, Maidstone on 17 May, investigators identified the suspects had been using a Vauxhall Zafira. On the following day, a patrol saw the vehicle in Cranbourne Avenue, Maidstone and indicated for the driver to stop. Officers arrested Matthews and his two passengers, Price and Collins.

On 23 May 2022, Jimmy Brazil accompanied Christopher Bygrave to a shop in Milton Regis. Brazil received some of the stolen cash from Bygrave during the robbery and left the scene. He was chased into an alleyway by the victim's husband and assaulted his pursuer but was detained by attending officers. Identified via CCTV.

Jimmy Devlin attacked the victim with a lock knife following an argument which started at a flat in The Tideway, Rochester on 1 January 2022. The victim left the property but was followed by Devlin into a communal entrance and then into a garden area where Devlin stabbed him several times, causing injuries to his arm, neck and chest. Devlin fled the scene while the victim sought help and was treated in hospital.

Darren Elphick, a senior church bell ringer and secretary/tower captain at St Peter and St Paul Church in Aylesford, groomed an underage girl by buying her expensive gifts, ignoring warnings about his behaviour. He abused her at his home near Maidstone, in his car, and in secluded wooded areas, including sexual intercourse while she was under 16. He told her to keep it secret. Arrested in December 2018 after report to police. Police found indecent images including one of the victim and others of children aged 12-14, plus extreme pornographic images.
Pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual activity with a child, three of taking indecent photos of a child, one of possessing an indecent image, and one of possessing extreme pornographic images. No previous convictions. Judge Robert Lazarus noted long-standing psychological harm to victim. On release, subject to indefinite sex offender register, sexual harm prevention order, and barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.

Darryl Addae, 28, of Kensington Avenue, East Ham, was identified as the man behind the 'Alex' county line selling heroin and crack cocaine in Ashford, Kent. The investigation began after local officers became aware of messages to drug users in November and December 2021. A silver Ford Focus used to transport drugs from east London to Kent was located at a property in Dagenham, where Addae was arrested on 21 January 2022 after running from the back door. Scales, cash, phones, and evidence of supply in Northamptonshire were found.

David Beater

David Beater, a former vicar at St Botolphs and St Marks Church in Northfleet, abused two boys in the 1980s under the guise of encouraging musical and sporting activities. He showed one victim pornography at the vicarage and assaulted him, causing physical pain and lifelong trauma including PTSD and suicide attempt. The second victim was assaulted in squash club showers and shown pornography at the vicarage. Offences came to light after a prison incident triggered memories.
Admitted five sex abuse charges relating to offences in the 1980s. Judge Philip Statman noted profound breaches of trust and praised victims' bravery. Previous 1985 conviction for sexual assault mentioned.
David Akande

During the evening of 4 February 2021, David Akande along with Mahei Ahmad, Mohammed Maow and Thami Ngqobongwana travelled to an address near Shorts Way, Borstal with a number of other unidentified men. Once there, the group forcibly entered a house and one of them punched a man inside whilst demanding money. After the victim surrendered his wallet, his mother was also threatened before the gang left the premises. An investigation identified Akande as involved and he was arrested in Gillingham on 12 February.
Pleaded not guilty and convicted after a trial. Aged 34, from Gillingham. Arrested on 12 February 2021.
David Haley
Making indecent images of children *

4 years imprisonment with an extended licence period of a further 4 years
David Haley, a 40-year-old convicted sex offender, ignored a Sexual Harm Prevention Order by accessing hundreds of illegal images of child sexual abuse on his mobile phone. On 5 September 2021, police made an unannounced visit to his home in Marden and examined his phone, which revealed the images. He used an online alias 'Amy' to share illegal images online, discuss abusing young children with other users, and configured apps to delete messages and images after viewing.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images, breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and failing to comply with a notification requirement. Previously sentenced in 2015 to more than 6 years imprisonment for sexual assault and offences relating to indecent images of children. Will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
David Creed
Manslaughter by diminished responsibility *

David Creed stabbed his partner Catherine Granger to death at their shared maisonette in Long Acre Close, Canterbury, on 29 December 2020 using a carving knife. They had both been drinking vodka and arguing for several days. Creed dialled 999 at around 11.25am admitting he had repeatedly stabbed her. Emergency services attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple stab wounds to her back and one to her front.
Admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility due to severe alcohol dependency. Initially charged with murder.
David Fitzgerald
Conspiracy to sell or transfer prohibited weapons *

During the morning of 14 October 2020, officers executed a search warrant at a rental property in Headcorn Road, Biddenden, finding a self-loading pistol, silencer, magazine and loose ammunition hidden in a wardrobe. David Fitzgerald was present and arrested. A further search of a nearby storage unit he leased uncovered a bolt-action rifle and ammunition wrapped in a towel. Encrypted messages sent by Fitzgerald to criminal associates between March and June 2020 indicated he possessed firearms, including the seized pistol, that were for sale.
Pleaded guilty to all counts except conspiracy to sell or transfer prohibited weapons. Convicted of conspiracy after trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Aged 58.

David Harris grabbed, punched and headbutted 77-year-old Sidney Collier in the doorway of a hotel in Margate on 6 October 2020 following a dispute over cigarette butts. CCTV footage showed Harris grabbing Collier by the chest, punching him to the face and headbutting him, causing Collier to fall and hit his head, leading to a fatal brain bleed. Collier died in hospital the following day.
Pleaded guilty to manslaughter on 12 February 2021.

On 21 October 2020, in Maidstone town centre, David Hilden approached from behind and punched a police officer in the face while the officer was detaining Robbie Booth. On 8 March 2021, Dedawan Kakel travelled from the West Midlands in a BMW with a group of criminal associates to rob a community shop in Darnley Road, Strood, Kent. They parked in Dart Close nearby. Around 7.30pm, Kakel and three others entered the store where a staff member was working alone. One struck the victim with a cricket bat, causing him to fall; others assaulted him, one with a knife, cutting his hand. They stole cash from the till. Identified via CCTV from the scene and a petrol station near Blue Bell Hill. Arrested on 21 July.
Pleaded not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and convicted after a six-day trial. Of Princes Road, Middlesbrough, Teesside. Aged 25.

David Kemp, aged 40 from Chatham, engaged in sexually explicit conversations online with a girl he believed was 13-years-old between 4 April and 13 April 2022. He sent explicit images and arranged to meet her in Medway. He was detained by Kent Police’s Paedophile On Line Investigation Team at Strood Train Station on 13 April 2022.
Pleaded guilty to arranging the commission of a child sex offence and attempted sexual communication with a child. Required to comply with the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order on release.

New allegations reported to Kent Police in August 2022. Arrested on 16 August 2022. Police analysis of his phone found searches including ‘nude junior archives’ and ‘kids’ nudists chase game’. Of no fixed address.

A further offence of engaging in sexual communication with a child ordered to lie on file. Previously sentenced in 2005 to more than six years’ imprisonment for sexual abuse of children. David Laird, aged 30, of Mount Pleasant Court, Hildenborough, was caught dealing in Tonbridge on 8 January 2021, after a patrol approached his stationary vehicle in Quarry Hill. He appeared nervous, leading to a search which seized three deals of cocaine from the glove box, as well as two bags of drugs concealed behind the car’s facia, along with two mobile phones.

Daniel Tiplady, 31, of Kent Avenue, Ashford, Kent, possessed more than 150 extreme images including 15 indecent images/videos of children and 145 videos of extreme pornography showing sexual abuse, violence and torture. Further storage devices at his home contained additional indecent images of children and videos of extreme violence. He shared many of these images with people all over the world via chat groups and a mobile messaging application. His behaviour was uncovered after sharing explicit images of a woman on Facebook.
Pleaded guilty to six counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images and one count of disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress.

Constantin Barbuc applied for bank cards using victims’ personal details and intercepted mail from letter boxes using a fly swatter with double-sided adhesive tape. On 9 August 2021, he was spotted acting suspiciously in a grey BMW in Church Road by an off-duty Kent Police officer. The next day, he was stopped in Sutton Road in possession of a fraudulently obtained bank card and documentation. Further searches at his home yielded 37 bank and credit cards, 13 mobile phones, 15 driving licences, four computers, six chip & PIN readers, and over 100 stolen documents and letters. He had used a fraudulently obtained card to purchase fuel and items prior to arrest.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud. Aged 37, of Mill Street, Maidstone.
Dale Pearson

Dale Pearson, of Tudeley Lane, Tonbridge, broke into a snooker club in Buckland Hill at around 1am on Tuesday 24 May 2022 and stole £120 from the cash register and a quantity of coins. He then damaged a window to enter a nearby bowls club but left empty-handed. He entered a porch on the front of a house in Buckland Hill. Identified from CCTV footage showing his distinctive neck tattoo and fingerprint from the cash register.
Pleaded guilty. Prolific burglar with criminal record taken into account.
Daniel Cooper
Controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship *

Between November 2019 and January 2021, Daniel Cooper subjected a Maidstone woman to repeated assaults, continuous mental and emotional abuse, and controlling behaviour. He isolated her from friends and family, removed her keys to prevent her leaving home or using her car, stopped her attending social events, made incessant phone calls and messages demanding to know her whereabouts, forced her to eat against her will, punched and slapped her in the face, placed her in a headlock, dragged her by her hair, threatened to kill her if she left him, and forced her to wear make-up to hide her injuries.
Pleaded guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship and assault in connection with another woman. Three other assault charges ordered to lie on file. This was in addition to almost six months already spent remanded in custody.

Daniel Holdaway, 24, from Milton Regis, raped a woman in a hotel room in the Gravesend area on August 29, 2021, after spending the evening with her and taking her to pre-booked accommodation. He ignored her repeated objections. The victim left while he slept and reported the assault. He was arrested on August 31, 2021, and charged with rape.
Pleaded not guilty. Convicted after a trial. Subject to strict sex offender notification requirements indefinitely.

Clifford Vincent, 48, from Smarden, Ashford, targeted a vulnerable 91-year-old man with mobility issues in his home in Hartley, Cranbrook on 7 June 2022. He knocked on the door, forced his way inside claiming to know the victim, looked around the property including the bedroom, and stole around £15 from the mantelpiece in the living room. He was arrested around a month later while driving in Sevenoaks.

Clint Londors

On 21 June 2021 at around 3am, Clint Londors drove a silver BMW X5 to Grain High Street with Bradley Pearce and Jamie Turner. He reversed the car into the front of the Co-op twice, causing considerable damage. Pearce and Turner entered the shop stealing cigarettes, alcohol, razor blades and football cards. Londors joined them taking crates of lager. Over four minutes they stole items worth approximately £1,500. Londors drove them away towards Rochester. Police pursued after spotting the BMW. Londors attempted to reverse into the police vehicle and drove the wrong way on a dual carriageway. He was arrested on 29 June.
48-year-old. Also disqualified from driving for 3 years and 6 months and required to take an extended test. Pleaded guilty to burglary and dangerous driving.
Clinton Osuji

On the afternoon of 9 April 2018, officers noticed a Ford Fiesta linked to drug dealing in James Street. The vehicle was found in a car park. Osuji returned with Hassan Sheekh and they were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Police Dog Piper found 15 wraps of crack cocaine next to where Sheekh had been sitting. An additional search of Osuji’s home address led to a further 145 wraps of crack cocaine, and 51 wraps of heroin, being seized. Colin Fox, aged 43, of Christchurch Road, Ashford, targeted an 86-year-old vulnerable pensioner living in a care home suffering from debilitating medical conditions. Through connections with a friend who provided care to the victim, Fox gained access to the victim's personal details, including his online bank account. In March 2018, he made multiple transactions attempting to transfer £188,397 from the victim's account to his own. The bank placed the transactions on hold due to the large sums. On 28 March 2018, Fox attended the bank's local branch in Ashford accompanied by an unidentified associate posing as the elderly victim (claiming to be his 'grandfather') to convince staff to release the funds for purchasing designer watches. Staff challenged them with security questions and alerted police, thwarting the scam. Fox was arrested in September 2019.
Pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.
Colin Nourse

On 8 March 2020 in a communal car park in Cooper Close, Greenhithe, a group attempted to steal motorcycles owned by Christopher and Colin Nourse. The brothers armed themselves with firearms; Christopher shot at the thieves, injuring a bystander in the arm. Evidence included bullet casings, gunshot residue, DNA, CCTV, and a discarded handgun.

Craig Wharton

Craig Wharton, 36, was found with large quantities of cannabis and around £8,000 cash at his home in Ashford. The property also contained nine mobile phones, four of which were hidden inside a punchbag, and multiple weapons including an extendable baton, a machete, three smaller knives and a knuckleduster. Items were seized under a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant on Wednesday 9 November 2022. Wharton was not home at the time, left the county, and was arrested a week later as a passenger in a car entering Kent via Dartford Crossing, where cannabis was thrown from the vehicle and more drugs found inside.
Pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property. Sentence included the activation of a suspended sentence received for a previous unrelated offence.
Curtis Davies

Curtis Davies, 30, of no fixed address, acted as a drug runner for the 'MJ' county line drug network in Medway. On 21 July 2022, a patrolling officer saw him carry out a suspected drug deal on Grange Road, Gillingham. He was stopped and found with several drug wraps, a mobile phone and cash, driving Natalie Riley's car. Officers searched her nearby address finding drug paraphernalia.
Admitted charges of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, breach of a restraining order and driving without a licence. Acted as drug runner for the 'MJ' county line.

Christopher Sharrock

Christopher Sharrock was part of a criminal gang responsible for importing and distributing at least 1.4 tonnes of cocaine from Central America concealed in bananas between March and December 2021. The group used an encrypted messaging app with pseudonyms to arrange movements of 30-100kg at a time using hire vans. Drugs were smuggled into Kent via shipping containers at the Port of Sheerness, including over a tonne from Costa Rica, extracted and distributed from a yard in Longfield.
Found guilty of importing class A drugs.
Claire Lunn

Life imprisonment with minimum term of 19 years
Justin Burnett and Claire Lunn killed Piotr Lacheta, who was living in a tent in Cowgate Cemetery and in a relationship with Lunn. Shouting was heard the night before on 30 September 2019, with witnesses recognising Burnett's voice. Burnett later said he had stamped 'all over' the victim. Lacheta suffered fatal injuries to his head, chest and neck and was dragged around sixty feet from Lunn's tent. His body was found by a dog walker on the morning of 1 October 2019. Both offenders were found at the scene with blood on their clothing and arrested that day.
Convicted of murder after trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Denied murder but witness and forensic evidence proved involvement. No responsibility taken or motive explained.
