He claimed to have reached his daily cash-withdrawal limit despite making no withdrawals. In one instance, he told the homeowner the boiler had failed and charged for a replacement, placing a Bosch boiler sticker on the existing unit to make it appear new, though no new boiler was fitted. The workmanship was described as 'quite appalling' by a specialist building surveyor, carried out by unskilled and incompetent individuals, rendering the annex structurally unsound and leading to its demolition. The homeowner was left with an uninhabitable property and losses exceeding £166,000.

He looked down for a cigarette for a second or two, failing to brake in time while travelling at 70mph. The impact led to further collisions, resulting in the death of 68-year-old Michael Stone at the scene and serious injuries to his passenger colleague, including seven broken ribs and a head injury. Nicholls and another driver also required hospital treatment.

The two other men attempted to restrain him but were wounded—one stabbed in the chest requiring life-saving surgery, the other in the neck. Kotwica fled, discarded the knife in a drain, and was arrested nearby by armed officers.

He was also convicted, along with Paul Elijah Hayden, of attempting to murder 19-year-old Nathan Williams in Easton on 2 February 2024, where Nathan suffered multiple stab wounds with such force that it fractured two ribs and his shoulder blade and damaged his liver and one kidney, including a potentially fatal chest wound.
Concurrent life sentence with minimum term of 20 years for attempted murder. Judge noted he was an integral member of the team despite not wielding the knife. Mitigation included lack of maturity and impact on family.

Between October 9-13, 2025, he repeated the theft at the Two Mile Hill Road Co-Op, targeted a Tesco in Bell Hill Road, and another Co-Op in Church Road, St Georges. In total, he stole nearly £5,000 worth of tobacco, more than £60 worth of groceries, and a £30 bottle of alcohol. He was arrested on October 13, 2025, after stealing more than £1,300 of tobacco from the Co-Op in Church Road.
Pleaded guilty to one count of robbery, four counts of commercial burglary and two counts of shoplifting.

Ben Bicknell, 37, from Whitchurch Lane, Bristol, served as the main drugs distributor for the OCG in Bristol. He was arrested in June 2022 and found in possession of snap bags containing cocaine. He was forensically linked to three kilos of heroin and 660 grams of cocaine seized from his niece Kasey Cotterell’s address in Hartcliffe, Bristol, on the same day.
