Daniel Marks
Assault by beating *
Sentence
Fined £1,125
On February 19, 2023, during a West Kent Sunday League match between Insulators FC and Dormansland Rockets at Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Daniel Marks, a 50-year-old spectator and registered player for Insulators FC, assaulted referee Peter Williams after receiving a red card for verbal abuse. Marks approached Williams from behind, grabbed him by the shoulders with force, causing him to fall and sustain a cut lip and neck swelling. The court determined it was an intentional assault without warning, though not a punch or rendering the victim unconscious. Williams suffered physical injuries requiring hospital treatment and ongoing mental trauma including PTSD, leading him to stop refereeing adult matches.
Ordered to pay £1,100 in compensation to the victim. Banned from contacting the referee for two years and must leave any venue where the referee is officiating for the same period. Pleaded guilty to assault by beating on the basis that he tripped over water bottles, but the court found he intentionally grabbed the victim from behind causing him to fall.

On July 19, 2025, Thomas Egan, who was living at his sister's house in Maidstone to support his addictions, returned home intoxicated. After she confronted him about the mess, he punched her repeatedly on the arm and forehead, causing a large painful lump and bruising. When her elderly German Shepherd dog, Steve, barked to protect her, Egan punched the dog multiple times on the head until it cowered and yelped. His sister locked the dogs in the garden and called the police, leading to his arrest.
Pleaded guilty to ABH and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. Ordered to pay £500 compensation to sister, £114 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs. Five-year restraining order against contacting sister. History of six convictions including assaults on police and family members.
