David Tilici, 28, of Chapel Street, Luton, attacked his one-month-old baby boy in a room at the Campanile Hotel near Liverpool’s riverfront on 11 December 2023, while drunk and while the baby’s mother went to get food at a nearby McDonald’s around 10pm. The couple had checked into the hotel around 8pm, and the baby showed no injuries at that time. Tilici called the mother on Facetime, prompting her to rush back and find the child with significant injuries. She took the baby to reception, where staff called an ambulance. Paramedics deemed the injuries non-accidental, and police were notified. Tilici denied causing the harm, claiming the baby rolled off the bed. The child was taken to Alder Hey Hospital, where medics confirmed the injuries were not accidental.
Found guilty after trial. No remorse shown. Senior Crown Prosecutor described him as a violent, abusive bully.

On August 30, 2023, at around 9.30pm on Birchwood Way, Warrington, Bridie Trotter, then 36, who was over the drink driving limit and high on cocaine, drove her two young sons (aged five and four) and swerved onto the other side of the road, causing a head-on collision with a car carrying 36-weeks pregnant Ellie Wright, her partner, and two children (aged eight and six). The crash resulted in serious injuries to all seven people involved, including Trotter's five-year-old son who was placed in an induced coma for four days with fractures to his collarbone and pelvis, a scalp wound, broken nose, and mouth injury requiring surgery. Ellie Wright suffered bruising to her baby bump, was hospitalized for four days, and feared for her baby's life; her children had severe seatbelt burns and bruising. Trotter's blood alcohol was 137mg (over 80mg limit) and cocaine metabolite four times the legal limit six hours post-accident. She had been struggling with mental health, domestic violence, drinking, and drugs prior to the incident.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drug driving and drink driving. Judge Stuart Driver KC noted her previous good character, mental health struggles, history of domestic violence, and efforts to rehabilitate from addiction. She believes the sentence is too long and is appealing.

A search of their suitcases uncovered almost 22kg of high-purity cocaine hidden in the lining, with a street value of approximately £594,000. Her partner arranged the return and instructed her to leave suitcases lightly filled and marked with a ribbon, which she did, and she took pictures of the suitcases to facilitate placement of the drugs.
Found guilty by jury of participating in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on importing cocaine. Played a limited role but was a willing participant. Partner accepted bulk of responsibility. Judge noted she tied ribbons to luggage and forwarded pictures for identification. Later struck off by General Pharmaceutical Council for limited insight and denial of misconduct.

On or around August 7 and 8, 2023, he abused the dog in the rear yard of his home in Harrowby Road, Birkenhead, by repeatedly hitting her with a baseball bat, hurling bricks at her abdominal area, throwing pans of water, grabbing her by the neck, headbutting her, and punching her. He did not seek veterinary care for the dog's injuries, including significant swelling on her head from a strong hit. The dog exhibited signs of distress and attempts to escape. Zeus was removed by police on August 8, 2023, signed over by Campbell, and euthanised due to legislation on banned breeds.
Admitted one Animal Welfare Act offence. Claimed self-defence due to alleged dog bite, but evidence from videos and witnesses showed repeated abuse. Ordered to complete ten Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days.

He attempted to flee from police by jumping out of a window at his girlfriend's house, and searches revealed more than £25,000 in cash at his home. His involvement dated back to at least March 2024.

On 18 August 2023, at about 5.45pm on Park Lane West in Netherton, Liverpool, Rachel Walshe was walking her Rottweiler dog Frankie when Marie Stevens, 40, approached to stroke the dogs. Frankie bit Mrs Stevens' arm, dragging her to the ground, and both dogs, including Brian's dog Rocky, attacked her. The dogs were dangerously out of control. Mrs Stevens suffered severe injuries leading to a blood clot that caused her death on 3 September 2023. The postmortem confirmed direct causation from the dog attack.
Pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates Court on 31 January 2024. Disqualified from owning a dog for an indefinite period. Dogs ordered to be destroyed.

He then fought with his father, Joseph Tyler, grabbed a knife from his father's pocket, and stabbed him 12 times in the flank, thigh, left chest, armpit, and other areas, leading to a fractured rib, bleeding to the eye, and severe injuries requiring emergency surgery and critical care at St Mary's Hospital in Warrington. Tyler fled the scene but was arrested 12 hours later, claiming self-defence, though the judge determined his actions exceeded this. The incident stemmed from a deteriorating relationship and prior violence, leaving both victims with lasting physical and psychological effects, including mobility issues, constant pain, and fear for safety.
Pleaded guilty to Section 18 Assault (Grievous Bodily Harm) and causing Actual Bodily Harm. Has 23 previous convictions for various offences. The dogs jumped at Mr. Hudson, knocking him onto rocks and causing a cut to his eyebrow and injuries to two fingers. He shouted for Coleman to control the dogs, but she walked away, swearing. The incident occurred in a popular area frequented by families and other dog walkers.

Raymond Hawthorne groomed and sexually abused two young boys between 1988 and 1995 while living on the Wirral in Merseyside. The offending was prolonged and serious, including touching the children, sexual assault, and rape over many years. He gained the trust of the children's parents by offering to look after the children, repeatedly abusing this trust. He plied the children with gifts and money, took them on trips or to his own home to isolate them, and as they got older, gave them drink and drugs. On several occasions, one victim was drugged without knowledge and sexually abused while unconscious. Hawthorne has a history of running a child sexual exploitation ring and committing sexual offences against children.
Found guilty on 14 out of 17 counts following a trial in March 2024. Judge noted he has no insight into his offending and no remorse, and attacked the credibility of his victims during the trial.

Keith Sherwood was stopped by police on the M62 near junction six for Tarbock Island on April 17, 2024, while driving eastbound. Officers found 13 tightly bound packages containing over 13kg of cocaine in the rear passenger footwell of his car. The cocaine had a purity of 79-84 per cent and was estimated to have a wholesale value of £364,000 to £468,000, and a street value of £523,000 to £1.3 million. He was transporting the drugs as a courier recruited by a friend.
Recruited by a friend as a one-off courier. Police welcomed the sentence, noting it as a significant drug recovery and a deterrent to drug dealing.

On 25 February 2023, Thomas Doran, 40, of Poplar Terrace in Keighley, drove a white transit van eastbound on the A18 after drinking nine pints of stout at a pub one mile from the collision site. Accompanied by a man and a 41-year-old woman known to him, he pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle, causing the van to spin and the rear doors to open. The woman, seated on a makeshift seat without a seatbelt, was ejected and suffered extensive head injuries. Doran assaulted a paramedic providing lifesaving care and failed a roadside breath test, being almost twice over the limit. He refused a blood alcohol sample. CCTV confirmed his intoxication and actions.

Kyle Shaw, 37, from Whetstone Lane in Birkenhead, Wirral, embarked on a persistent campaign of stalking Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, 64, between August 31, 2017, and November 29, 2023, causing serious harm or distress. Believing Ballas's late brother, David Rich, who died by suicide in 2003 at age 44, was his father based on information from his mother, Shaw sent messages and threats to Ballas, her friends, and colleagues. He accused Ballas of responsibility for her brother's death, set up social media accounts in Rich's name, posted menacing threats on Twitter including her home address, and approached Ballas's 86-year-old mother, Audrey Rich, in a Wirral shop in 2019, claiming she was his grandmother, which led to her relocation to London. Shaw also messaged Ballas's niece Mary Assall, former partner Daniel Taylor, and work colleagues from Loose Women and Strictly Come Dancing, and taunted her about upcoming book signings. This caused Ballas significant distress, including sleepless nights, reluctance to socialise, and avoidance of public transport. Shaw has complex mental health issues since childhood, exacerbated by cannabis use.
Pleaded guilty to stalking. Also admitted possession of cannabis. Ordered to carry out 20 days of rehabilitation activity and a 12-month drug rehabilitation requirement. Made subject of a lifetime restraining order preventing contact with Shirley Ballas, her niece, mother, and former partner.

In December 2022, evidence from a black iPhone recovered near the scene of an assault on Sam Searson showed Jake Duffy's involvement in supplying cannabis between December 7 and 20. The phone, attributed to him via selfies and social media, contained messages sourcing cannabis for sale, advertising to customers, tick lists for up to £2,000 owed, references to wages for others, and pictures of large cash amounts. Duffy made no comment in a November 2023 interview. He was sentenced in April 2024 but breached the order by missing unpaid work and probation appointments and displaying poor attitude towards staff.
