A search by officers found 93 wraps of heroin, valued at an estimated £1,120, in his JD sports bag. He claimed the drugs were for his own personal use.
Pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and was convicted by a jury following a two-day trial. Branded a 'prolific' offender, well known to police in Warrington.

Stephen Lequesne, 23, of no fixed abode, raped a 21-year-old woman in a car park surrounded by bushes in Hoghton Street, Southport, around 1am on 8 July 2021. The woman had been out on a night out with friends. A passer-by heard her screams, saw Lequesne assaulting her, and shouted at him to stop. Lequesne claimed she was his girlfriend and he was hugging her, but she ran away screaming. The 42-year-old passer-by detained Lequesne and called the police. Another passer-by also called the police after hearing the screams. Lequesne was arrested at the scene, denied the rape, claimed he met her briefly and passed out, but CCTV footage showed the assault. He became aggressive during interview and refused to watch further footage. He initially pleaded guilty to attempted rape but was charged with rape after further evidence, pleading guilty on 15 October 2021.

Kasif Khan, 37, of Braeside Grove in Bolton, was spotted driving a red Ford Mondeo on Birchwood Way in Warrington around 3.50am on 2 September 2021. Police checked the number plate, which showed the car was rented in the Oxford area. When officers activated emergency equipment and asked him to switch off the engine, he turned down the radio instead. With blacked-out windows, he claimed 'Just friends' were inside and then drove off at high speed onto the M62. He reached speeds of up to 130mph during the pursuit, undertaking cars and crossing carriageways. He entered a 30mph zone at 70mph and was stopped at the junction of Edgar St and Fletcher Street in Warrington. Breathalysed, he recorded 55mg of alcohol, exceeding the legal limit of 35mg. He was arrested.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. Disqualified from driving for 1 year and must take an extended re-test. Prior convictions for dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office. Judge Neil Flewitt noted it was a serious concern that compromised her position and that of her colleagues, and emphasised the need to deter other prison officers. She is of former good character and expressed remorse.

On October 6, 2019, in Warrington, Daniel Sharples, a 38-year-old kickboxer from Grisedale Avenue, Orford, verbally abused a group including Michael Mairs, who was drinking with friends near the railway bridges on Winwick Street. After attacking and chasing away two of Mairs' friends, Sharples launched a vicious, sustained assault on the 53-year-old wheelchair-bound father-of-two, repeatedly kicking him while he was helpless. A member of the public tried to intervene, but Sharples continued until he fled. Mairs was treated at the scene, taken to Warrington District General Hospital, placed in an induced coma, and transferred to intensive care, where he died on October 28, 2019, without regaining consciousness. Sharples was arrested shortly after attempting to evade police.
Convicted after an eight-day trial. No remorse shown; attempted to blame the victim and claimed intoxication and lack of recollection.

On September 3, 2019, Roger Collins, aged 52 from St Helens, attacked his girlfriend Diane Morris in her home in Orford, Warrington. Drunk and enraged over a dispute about money for his deceased brother's memorial, he chased her upstairs, sat astride her on the bed, threatened to stab her, and smothered her with her sentimental pillow, suffocating her. He punched her face when she fought back, then locked the doors, removed keys, and confiscated her phone, imprisoning her for several hours. She urinated in a salad bowl due to the ordeal and damaged the landline phone. Her son discovered her distressed state. Collins has a history of domestic violence, including prior cautions and discharges for assaults on ex-partners.

He groomed six vulnerable residents, became their next of kin, obtained power of attorney, and manipulated their wills to steal around £4m. Tactics included threats, flattery, false rumours, and hiring psychics for 'magic spells'. Specific victims included Katy Willey and her husband Gordon, from whom he stole over £1m and attempted to claim £10m from their estate after isolating them from family; and Ronald Ward-Howlett, from whom he stole £831,000 by preying on his emotions and threatening to dispose of his ashes improperly. Barton liquidated victims' assets, sold them inflated luxury cars like Rolls Royces for £500,000 each, and stole vehicles back via inheritance. He lived luxuriously with flash cars and 19 properties funded by the fraud.

During trial, court heard he also claimed £47,000 in benefits he was not entitled to and stole electricity worth £500,000 to power the production. He used measures to avoid detection including changing locks and paying rent to agents and landlords.

Scott Hughes was a significant member of a class A drugs gang involved in the supply of cocaine, heroin, and cannabis, operating under Operation Webber. The gang made huge profits, leading to luxury lifestyles with properties in desirable Merseyside postcodes. Hughes was observed meeting drug couriers, including one at Speke retail park where 4kg of cocaine was later seized, and another at the Suites hotel in Kirkby where 2.2kg of cocaine was recovered. His fingerprints were found on £53,000 seized from a courier. He fled the UK in May 2011 after police raided his £1,100 per month converted barn, evading capture for five years by hiding in Dubai and Benidorm, Spain, where he worked menial jobs under a false name. He was arrested at Brussels airport in Belgium using a fake passport during a joint operation by the National Crime Agency, Belgian Federal Police, and Merseyside Police. The conspiracy spanned 18 months, involved nearly two dozen people, and had links to Newcastle, Carlisle, Scotland, Malaga, Amsterdam, and Geneva for drug deals.
