On 13 January 2026, police witnessed Bledar Canaj conducting a suspected drug deal in Arundel Street, Portsmouth. Canaj was stopped and searched, yielding bags of cocaine, cannabis and cash. A search of his flat uncovered further cash and cannabis. Alex Xhediku arrived at the flat and was arrested. Examination of his phone indicated his involvement in drug supply, leading to a search of his home on Posbrooke Road. Officers found a carrier bag containing £50,000 in cash on a kitchen worktop. In the loft, two additional carrier bags were discovered: one containing £93,040 in cash, the other approximately 600 grams of cocaine. Xhediku admitted all charges.

He sat next to her, asked questions about trains despite her attempts to ignore him, moved closer, and asked if she wanted to go on a walk and perform a sexual act on him. He then attempted to kiss her hand, sexually assaulted her, and threatened to rape her while remaining on the bench. The incident was witnessed by a member of the public who called the police. Hampshire Police arrested Money at the scene.

Levi Slack-Smith, a 21-year-old man from Southampton, engaged in a pattern of controlling and abusive behaviour against his former partner. He isolated her from friends and family, threatened to distribute intimate photographs, and escalated to physical and sexual violence. He raped her on multiple occasions and assaulted her repeatedly, including hitting, kicking, and strangling her to the point of unconsciousness. The assaults comprised five counts of actual bodily harm. He also committed a dangerous driving offence by fleeing police at 60 mph with cloned plates. The victim stated in court: 'He raped me, beat me, spat at me, degraded and abused me in every possible way he could. He tried to destroy me and my life.'

Judge Daniel Sawyer described the relationship as 'almost the entire range of abuse – sexual, violent and emotional abuse.'

Brynley Hocking, a 45-year-old man from Portsmouth, engaged in online communications aimed at grooming a supposed 13-year-old girl for sexual purposes. Unbeknownst to him, the individual he was interacting with was an undercover officer from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. During these exchanges, Hocking explicitly stated his intention to meet the child for sex, leading to his arrest. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered that Hocking was in possession of extreme pornographic material, including content involving bestiality, as well as indecent images of children, some depicting victims as young as two years old. These materials provided further evidence of his involvement in serious sexual offences related to child exploitation. On 22 December 2025, Hocking appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of arranging and facilitating sexual activity with a child, attempting to form sexual communications, and possession of indecent images of children. He was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison.

Danny Venning, 39, of Beatrice Avenue, Lipson, Plymouth, acted as a manager in a county lines drugs gang operating between Liverpool and Plymouth, supplying crack cocaine and heroin. He was involved in multiple trips to Liverpool to transport drugs and cash. The gang, known as the 'Scouse Dave' line, sold approximately 9.6kg of crack and heroin in Plymouth between 1 January 2022 and 28 March 2023. Venning was arrested while in possession of the drugs phone line and multi-kilos of drugs, leading to the cessation of the operation. Police seized 4kg of drugs and over £30,000 in cash from the network, along with weapons.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Trusted manager in the Plymouth operation, involved in multiple trips to Liverpool. Resisted arrest. Vowed in a letter to the judge to mend his ways and not reoffend.

He initially appeared gentle and loving, buying gifts and introducing children, but later changed, punishing them for perceived slights through rapes and physical assaults. He plied one with cocaine and alcohol before raping her and subjected another to extreme humiliation. He expected the women to sleep with other men, including raping, assaulting, and demeaning them until they agreed. Previously convicted of a sex attack.
Denied being violent towards the women and claimed all sexual intercourse and activity was consensual. Poses a significant danger to society according to prosecutor.
Bruno Sala

Another man then aggressively demanded and received an additional £7,500, totaling £30,500 paid to Smith, but no work was completed.

On the morning of 23 December 2023, Adam Wright, 39, of Bishop's Waltham, visited his wife's 78-year-old grandmother, June Henty, while she was preparing to go Christmas shopping with her daughter. In a rage after she refused his demands for money, Wright attacked her more than 100 times to the head, face, and neck with a knife. Mrs Henty was found by family members, underwent major surgery, and spent 90 days in ICU. She named Wright as her attacker to family and emergency responders. Wright was arrested that same day after a short manhunt. Initially charged with attempted murder, to which he pleaded guilty, Mrs Henty died on 14 June 2024 from the knife wounds, leading to a murder charge, which he also admitted.

Bradley Talbot

Bradley Talbot, 29, of Portsmouth, was a core member of an organised crime group on Telegram with over 6,000 members. The group targeted children aged 12–17, coercing them through blackmail and threats to produce indecent images and self-harm. Talbot directed activities, manipulated victims, threatened to share compromising images, and forced some to carve words into their skin. Over 100 victims were identified, many from the UK. He pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court on 29 April 2025 to participating in criminal activities of an organised crime group, arranging or facilitating sexual exploitation of a child under 13, and distributing indecent images of children. Sentenced on 21 November 2025 to seven years and six months in prison with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Martin Suter, 68, of Lee-on-the-Solent, near Gosport, Hampshire, murdered his ex-wife Ann Blackwood, 71, at Crofton Cemetery in Stubbington, Hampshire, on July 24, 2023, which was the 36th birthday of their deceased son Christopher, who died accidentally in 2003. Suter lay in wait for five hours at the cemetery, armed with a large kitchen knife from his home. When Blackwood arrived by bicycle to visit the grave and cut flowers with scissors she brought, he stabbed her in the back with the knife, which broke, then repeatedly stabbed her 19 times in the neck and shoulder with the scissors. He called 999 at 3.39pm admitting to the murder, appeared calm, and blamed her for his son's death, which he mistakenly believed was suicide. The attack was planned, with Suter anticipating her visit. Blackwood was vulnerable due to her age and the surprise attack from behind at a peaceful location.
Pleaded guilty to murder. Also sentenced to an additional 121 days for indecent assault of a girl under 14, to which he had pleaded guilty in May 2023 at Manchester Crown Court. Diagnosed with autism and depression. No genuine remorse expressed.

In the early hours of 17 May 2024, Joshua Powell strangled his 96-year-old grandmother, Emma Finch, at her home in a calculated attempt to obtain inheritance money to pay off his debts. Steven Colin Hardy, of no fixed address, stabbed a 32-year-old victim in the back from behind outside a café on West Street in Fareham on the morning of 23 September 2024. The victim and his partner had been dining at the café and became unsettled by Hardy staring at them. As they left and walked near the Quay Street junction around 11am, the attack occurred. The victim initially thought he had been punched but soon realised he was seriously injured. He and his partner fled to the nearby police station for help, where witnesses saw Hardy hide the knife and follow them. Police arrested Hardy upon his arrival at the station, and he surrendered the weapon. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, but the incident could have resulted in more serious harm.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Also admitted to possession of a knife in a public place and possession of cannabis. A concurrent 12-month sentence was given for the knife and drug offences.

David Chandler, aged 56, of Hart Plain Avenue, Waterlooville, subjected his girlfriend to coercive controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, and assault between 23rd June 2024 and 30th June 2025 in New Milton and Waterlooville. He dictated how she dressed, whom she spoke to, banned her from speaking to males, ordered her to undergo breast surgery to alter her appearance and stop men looking at her, threatened to damage her house and property as well as her relatives, monitored her mobile phone, interfered in her business by changing its name, stopping male customers, controlling services, forcing changes to signs and appearance, compelling her to delete social media accounts, damaging business property, and demeaning her by compelling her to degrade herself in front of clients. On 29th March 2025, he intentionally strangled her, and between 23rd June 2024 and 30th June 2025, he attacked her by strangling, grabbing her head, slapping, pulling her hair, and restraining her.
Pleaded not guilty but convicted by jury following an eight-day trial. DC Andrew Mason described the behaviour as shocking and abhorrent.
