Smith repeatedly kicked and punched Croft, causing fatal injuries. He then stole Croft's tobacco, cigarette papers, and lighter, before dumping the badly charred body on a public bonfire near the YMCA in an attempt to conceal the crime. The remains were found in the embers in the early hours of November 6, 2012.
Pleaded not guilty but convicted. Had eight previous convictions in the last two years. Was on the run from a children's home at the time. Defence stated he was very young, had not intended to kill, and now regretted his actions.

On 22 August 2007, Sean Mercer, aged 16 at the time, shot 11-year-old Rhys Jones in the back while Jones was walking home from football practice in Croxteth, Liverpool. Mercer was attempting to target rival gang members from the Norris Green Strand Crew but missed and fatally struck Jones. The bullet entered Jones's back above his left shoulder blade and exited from the front right side of his neck. Jones was pronounced dead at Alder Hey Children's Hospital after paramedics failed to resuscitate him.

Despite learning difficulties, he was not provided an appropriate adult. Crucial DNA evidence later identified another unknown perpetrator.

William Fish lured seven-year-old Emily Agnes Holland into his barbershop on March 28, 1876, under the pretense of running an errand. He raped her, then killed her by cutting her throat and dismembering her body with a cut-throat razor. He disposed of her body parts by wrapping them in newspaper, burning some in his fireplace, and hiding others in a chimney and drains. The crime was solved when dogs led police to the remaining body parts in his shop.
Pleaded guilty to murder but attempted to claim insanity; jury rejected the plea after deliberation.

On Saturday 13 March 2021, Hollis was driving a Merseyrail service from Liverpool Central to Kirkby, due to arrive at 6.52pm. The speed limit for the approach to Kirkby station is 15mph, but the train travelled at 40mph. Hollis applied the emergency brakes but the train collided with the buffer stop, causing it to derail with an estimated £450,000 damage to the station. Twelve passengers and a guard on board sustained minor injuries. Phone analysis showed Hollis sent a WhatsApp message at 6.51.34pm, 26 seconds before the crash. He admitted his phone should have been turned off in the cab.
Pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on 8 February. Dismissed by Merseyrail in September 2021.

He concealed a bank account and shares from the Official Receiver, operated a sole trader company unbeknownst to new owners, lied about shares, and produced false banking material to pervert the course of justice.

Anthony Cullen, as part of the Cullen twins' organised crime group, ran a large-scale drug importation and supply scheme involving cocaine, turning over at least £300,000 a month. The gang used violence to intimidate and control others and stashed weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle, pump action shotgun, automatic pistols, and revolvers, which were hired out to other gangs and linked to shootings across the north west, including Bootle in 2015.

In early February 2024, police executed a warrant and seized firearms including a Skorpion submachine gun, ammunition, and a carrier bag with three bags of white powder containing 300g of ketamine worth up to £6,000. Roberts' DNA was found on the drug packaging, three sets of scales, multiple bags, a plastic container and gloves. He was arrested at his home on St Andrews Close in Maghull, wearing a dressing gown. He provided a prepared statement saying he rented the unit with another person but feared naming them, denied knowledge of some items, drugs, firearms or bicycles, then answered no comment.
Pleaded guilty to possessing ketamine with intent to supply. Involved due to own use, supplying to friends. Sentencing judge described ketamine as 'literally corrosive to bodies'. Sentence later reduced on appeal.
