Officers noted white powder around her nose and a positive roadside drug test for cocaine. She had been disqualified from driving until February 2026 following a previous drug-driving conviction. Ferns had been discharged from a mother and baby unit in November 2023 after post-natal psychosis but was taken off medication days before the incident due to health complications, leading her to snort cocaine at a friend's house while leaving her newborn son with his grandmother.
District Judge Ian Barnes accepted she needed to be at home to look after her four-month-old son. Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop when required by a constable, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without insurance. Mohammed Esmati

Mohammed Esmati, 28, of Widnes, sexually assaulted a woman outside Reef nightclub in Warrington town centre in August 2023. He approached the victim, who was outside for a cigarette, hugged her against her will, attempted to kiss her, and placed his hand under her clothing to touch her chest. The assault was captured on CCTV and reported by a vigilant operator, leading to his swift arrest. At trial, the victim gave evidence from behind a screen, describing her shock and distress. Esmati admitted touching her chest but disputed inserting his hand under her top. Magistrates deemed the offence so serious that only immediate custody was justified.
Convicted after trial. Denied the offence but was found guilty. Required to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years and ordered to pay £650 costs and £187 victim surcharge.

Stephen Brown, dressed as Santa Claus with a fake white beard, stood near Fenwick’s festive window display in Newcastle city centre offering to pose for pictures with children in exchange for donations. Security staff raised the alarm, leading to his arrest on Northumberland Street for breaching his lifetime sexual offences protection order.
Breached lifetime sexual offences protection order for the second time since release in January 2017. Previously jailed for five years in 2012 for child sex offences.
Susan Moore
Sexual assault and assault by beating *

On 5 March 2023 in Warrington, Cheshire, Susan Moore knocked on the door of two female neighbours, appearing tipsy and smelling of alcohol, and asked to use the toilet. Once inside, she entered a bedroom uninvited, sat next to one victim, placed her hand on the victim's breast and grabbed it, keeping it there for 20 minutes. She then pushed the same victim onto the bed, tickled and poked her, hit her on the head with a soft toy, and pinned her down. Moore dropped her trousers to show a scar, made the women hold hands between her thighs, and forced a prayer, bending one victim's finger back painfully while screaming. The ordeal lasted about an hour, causing the victims anxiety and forcing them to move home. Police were called and Moore was arrested.
Pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and two counts of assault by beating. The court suspended the custodial sentence, noting she could work with probation. Moore suffered from depression, anxiety and was a full-time carer for her husband. She claimed no recollection due to intoxication and expressed disgust at her actions.
Kim Rampley

Kim Rampley, formerly of Grange Avenue in Latchford, breached his indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order by being intoxicated in Warrington Bus Interchange on March 18, the day before his birthday. He appeared in court on March 21.

Liam Mcpartland

Liam McPartland attacked a doorman at Corner House on Alforde Street, Widnes, in the early hours of Sunday, November 23, 2025, following a dispute over a wristband. McPartland, who had been drinking heavily at Haydock Park Racecourse that day, was with a friend who was asked to leave due to not having the required wristband. CCTV footage showed McPartland and another man violently attacking the doorman, with McPartland throwing several punches to the victim's face. The victim required five stitches and will need cosmetic surgery for a lip injury. McPartland pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Michael Hayes

Michael Hayes, a registered sex offender of Yardley Avenue, Dallam, attacked a security guard at Warrington Hospital last month. Eight days prior, he committed another abusive offence against a man in Warrington. He also breached post-sentence supervision by failing to attend an appointment and notify police of his whereabouts.
Pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker, using threatening or abusive behaviour with the intent to cause fear and failing to comply with the requirements of post-custodial supervision. Offences committed while on post-sentence supervision as a registered sex offender. Magistrates noted the offence was so serious due to this context.
Michael Holliday
Breach of Sexual Harm Prevention Order *

Michael Holliday, a 52-year-old registered sex offender from Workington, Cumbria, failed to notify police of a YouTube username on his phone, breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He had a 2022 conviction for sexual communication with a child on TikTok, leading to the order and seven years of notification requirements. On 3 September 2023, during a polygraph appointment, he admitted deleting internet history. Officers later seized his phone and found the undisclosed username, used on 31 August 2023. This was his third breach of the order.
Pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. Ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 victim surcharge. Defence argued the undisclosed YouTube username was auto-generated during data migration, but repeated breaches of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order were noted.
Ian Chambers

On June 3, Ian Chambers was ejected from a pub in Whitehaven while intoxicated. He assaulted a doorman by punching him to the face during the ejection and again attempted to punch him outside. He was taken to the floor by force. Chambers, of Springfield Grove, Whitehaven, had denied the offence in interview but pleaded guilty after viewing CCTV footage.
Initially denied assault by beating but changed plea to guilty after being shown CCTV. Stated he had spiralled out of control with drink following personal difficulties.
Jason Ryan
Sexual exploitation of a child *

Jason Ryan sent sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old pupil he met during rehearsals for a school play. His offending occurred over a month in 2014, bombarding the girl with dozens of Facebook messages using the pseudonym John Marks. Messages included compliments on her eyes, smile and body, stating 'You look so hot and your body is so mmm', sending a photo of her in a bikini, asking if she was sexually active, and claiming arousal by her picture. The girl reported him after feeling uncomfortable, leading to his arrest in Kilkenny, Ireland.
Ordered to sign the offenders register at Warrington Police Station within three days. Following conviction for sexual exploitation of a child in the Republic of Ireland where he received a 23-month imprisonment suspended for 23 months. Represented himself in court.
Angel Barnes
Racially aggravated harassment and assault by beating *

Angel Barnes, 22, of Cleveland Road in Orford, committed racially aggravated threatening, abusive or disorderly words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and assaulted a man by beating on 12 August 2023 in Warrington. She also assaulted another man by beating on 1 September 2023. The racially abusive language was directed at a doorman who was simply doing his job. The offences were unprovoked attacks of a serious nature.
Pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment and one count of assault by beating; convicted after trial of second assault. Offences committed while subject to a community order. Magistrates noted flagrant disregard for court orders but suspended sentence due to rehabilitation prospects. Also ordered to complete 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days, pay £120 costs and £100 compensation.
Abbey Ridgway

Abbey Ridgway's Hyundai i10 collided with a Scania tipper truck at the junction of the A4 and B3109, near Corsham in Wiltshire, on 24 July 2025. Passenger Rosa Taylor, 19, was killed. Ridgway, 26, of Skelmersdale in Lancashire, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving.

Fahad Al Enaze, 31, a Kuwaiti asylum seeker living in a migrant hotel, bombarded an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl with explicit messages. Even after being told the 'girl' was just 14, he continued, asking if she liked sex and trying to start a relationship to 'teach her everything'. He was caught last September by vigilante group Widnes Parents Against Predators.
Admitted attempting sexual communication with a child. Claimed he didn’t know messaging underage kids was illegal. Sentence sparked outrage.
