Sean Royle, 37, from Maidstone, breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed in 2021 by secretly using a mobile phone. In July 2023, he was found to be in an undisclosed relationship with a woman who has young children. On 1 September 2023, he used a Snapchat profile to contact a 13-year-old girl outside Kent, revealing his age (almost three times hers), expressing desire to kiss and hug her, asking her to be his girlfriend, and sending a picture showing his face and naked upper torso with a distinctive tattoo. The victim informed her father, leading to his arrest on 29 November 2023. The seized phone contained almost 200 illegal videos and images of children being sexually abused.
Pleaded guilty to multiple offences including engaging in sexual communication with a child, failing to comply with notification requirements, repeated breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and making indecent images of children. Andrew Bloomfield targeted a first victim he knew indirectly from 2013, sending images of naked men, using sexually derogatory language and making lewd suggestions, continuing despite objections using fake identities over several years. She accompanied him to a nearby residential property where she blacked out and woke up to find him raping her. The incident was reported to Kent Police in March 2023, leading to his arrest. Pleaded not guilty. Convicted by unanimous jury verdict. Detective Sergeant Mike Williams noted that Moore deliberately targeted a vulnerable woman, exploiting her trust and intoxicated state.
Asif Mirza
Meeting a child following sexual grooming *

Asif Mirza contacted the victim through social media at the start of 2024, gained her trust by showing sympathy for her personal issues, pressured her to send indecent images, and arranged to meet her at a park in Sittingbourne on 2 August 2024. When the victim felt unwell, he encouraged her to sit in the rear of his car parked in Avenue of Remembrance, covered the windows, and committed an indecent act in her presence. A Kent Police worker noticed the suspicious vehicle, leading to his arrest after he claimed she was his step-daughter but admitted they met online.

Alwyn Tuttiett tormented his former partner with a constant barrage of phone calls, emails and social media posts, and repeatedly followed her as she walked with her child, after their relationship ended in October 2023. He bombarded her with aggressive, degrading and sexually explicit voicemails and messages, including calling her phone 134 times in one week. After being blocked, he made accusations via her friends’ Facebook pages, impacting her business. On 6 February 2024, he arrived at her home, screamed and spat in her face in the presence of her child. Arrested later that month, he continued harassment despite bail conditions, leading to re-arrest in June.
Pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress. A further charge of assault by beating was ordered to lie on file. Made subject of a five-year restraining order.
Liam Battelle

Liam Battelle met his victim through social media and met her in person at the start of 2023. He moved into her house and began assaulting her. He was extremely jealous, accusing her of other relationships, requiring permission to use her phone while listening to calls, not allowing her to use the bathroom alone or hair straighteners, threatening to throw acid in her face if she left, causing her to distance from family and friends. He continued assaults, damaged her property, and used her bank card for purchases. Arrested on 11 July.
Pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour and two breaches of sex offenders register conditions. Prior conviction for sexual offence in 2019. Subject to a restraining order for seven years on release.
Danny Bailey

Danny Bailey forced his way into the victim’s property in Rochester during the early hours of June 28, 2024. The woman had opened the door believing it was a neighbour, but Bailey pushed her back inside and made threats to kill her. He then raped the victim and physically assaulted her, leaving her with cuts to her lip and scratches on her neck. The victim managed to escape and lock herself in an upstairs bedroom, where her screams were heard by a neighbour who called police. Bailey had fled the scene before officers arrived but was arrested shortly afterwards at his home in Brompton Lane, Strood.

Naguib Lootfun, a 69-year-old care worker from Maidstone, sexually abused a severely disabled vulnerable patient unable to consent while working night shift at an assisted living facility. Suspicions arose on 8 May 2024 after colleagues found an empty condom wrapper in the victim's bedroom. A used condom was found the next day, leading to his arrest on suspicion of rape. Further evidence including a second used condom and DNA linked him to the offences. He initially denied but later admitted the act.
Convicted as a dangerous offender after admitting to having sex with a victim unable to consent. Required to serve at least two thirds of sentence before parole eligibility. DNA evidence linked him to used condoms found at the scene.

Issoop Naguib Lootfun, a 69-year-old care worker at a care home in Maidstone, had sex without the consent of a vulnerable young disabled woman on or around 8 May 2024. Police were called after a condom wrapper was found in the woman’s room. Lootfun initially claimed it had fallen out of his pocket and denied any sexual activity. He was suspended from the care home. Searches revealed two used condoms with DNA matching both Lootfun and the victim, as well as semen stains in her room matching his DNA profile. The offence involved significant planning and an attempt to cover up the crime by disposing of evidence within plastic gloves.
Pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder. A third charge was ordered to lie on file. Judge comments not specified.
Rhys Mateer
Breach of Sexual Harm Prevention Order and Sex Offender Notification Requirements *

Rhys Mateer, a sex offender, tampered with police monitoring software on his mobile phone, installed an application to prevent retention of his browsing history, used an alias on his gaming console without notifying police, and acquired a laptop and external hard drive without declaration. These actions breached conditions from his previous conviction. On June 15, 2024, police visited his home and discovered the breaches, leading to his arrest. Further searches found undeclared items including a bank card, tablet, and mobile phone in his car. Originally, he was convicted in August 2020 for engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and two counts of breaching his Sex Offender Notification Requirements. On release, he will be subject to a further Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
Richard Howes

Richard Howes, a 59-year-old registered sex offender from Chatham, Medway, was subject to a sexual harm prevention order issued at Maidstone Crown Court on 20 August 2021 following a conviction for making indecent images of children. The order required him to make any internet-enabled device available for police inspection on request and notify them within three days of acquiring new devices. On 28 February 2024, police visited after suspecting he had a new undeclared phone. He presented a phone and tablet but denied other devices; a search found two further tablets and another phone not declared.
Pleaded guilty to three breaches of a sexual harm prevention order. Sentence included six months for breaching a suspended sentence.

Nicholas Kerswell, 34, of Plough Road, Eastchurch, sexually assaulted a young girl under 13 by touching in an incident in Swale. The crime was reported to a relative who alerted police, leading to his swift arrest. Separately, he committed a burglary by breaking into an address in Bridgewater Road, Sheerness, on March 28, 2023.

Thomas Mulroy

On 27 March 2021, Thomas Mulroy was at his home address with a woman when he suddenly assaulted and then raped her. The victim tried to call a friend on her phone in an attempt to seek help, but Mulroy damaged it and prevented her from leaving the property. The victim later escaped and immediately made her way to Medway police station to report her ordeal. Mulroy, of New Road, Chatham, was arrested in the early hours of 28 March.

Michael Stanley

Between 2013 and February 2019, Michael Stanley operated a Ponzi-style scheme under the name 'Layzey Racing Syndicate', disguised as a lay betting horse racing gambling scheme. Over 6,000 members invested a minimum of £44.2 million, but Stanley used new investments to pay earlier members, lied about successful gambling, inflated investment values, and paid money into his own accounts. The scheme collapsed in February 2019, resulting in an overall net loss of at least £10.5 million. Stanley benefited by at least £4 million, using funds for a lavish lifestyle including 23 racehorses, a villa and apartment in Spain, new Land Rovers, private number plates costing £15,000, and expensive jewellery.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of carrying on business of a company with intent to defraud creditors / for other fraudulent purpose; participating in fraudulent business carried on by sole trader; and fraud by false representation. David Smith, 68, from Rainham, Medway, accessed Snapchat, WhatsApp and Kik to contact children as young as 12. He engaged in explicit conversations with a decoy profile 'Jake' believed to be 12 years old, encouraging photos and planning to meet and abuse. Also groomed a real 14-year-old victim in Essex with false suicidal claims due to ill-health and sent £500 payment days after his December 2023 arrest. Offences occurred between August 2023 and January 2024.

David Buisson
Conspiracy to commit burglary *

David Buisson, 56, from Malkin Drive, Harlow, burgled a Bluewater retailer on February 7, 2024, stealing over 150 high-value watches worth more than £1 million. Damien Mccann
Assault occasioning actual bodily harm and robbery *

Damien McCann attacked his victim from behind on the evening of January 5, 2020, near Pad’s Hill at a Maidstone bus stop. The unprovoked assault left the victim with several injuries, including a fractured tooth. McCann repeatedly punched and kicked the victim before stealing his phone and fleeing the scene. McCann, 28, from Strood, was arrested weeks later.
Pleaded not guilty, convicted following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Detective Constable Mark Giles described McCann’s actions as a “truly cowardly assault”.
Stephen Pyle
Rape of a child *

Stephen Pyle, living in Chatham in 1998, encouraged young children to visit his address when they played truant from school. Alcohol and drugs were available at the property. He groomed one of the youngsters, giving massages that became increasingly indecent, and committed multiple sexual offences against the child over a two-year period. In 2017, the victim disclosed the abuse to a third party, who contacted police. Pyle was arrested on 2 November. Officers seized a desktop computer containing 17 indecent images of children (three of the most serious category) and later a laptop with 34 more (five of the most serious category).
Pleaded not guilty and was convicted on all counts following a trial. Upon release, subject to an extended licence period of four years. Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed indefinitely.

Peter Smith, 74, from Maidstone (formerly Ellesmere, Shropshire), under a SHPO from a prior conviction, used a monitored tablet in December 2021 to search for and comment on indecent images of children. Police seized a mobile phone and two tablets containing illegal material. He denied responsibility, claiming devices were second-hand.

Duncan Hornby

In the early hours of Thursday 6 July 2023, Duncan Hornby poured petrol throughout a house in Faversham while two people slept upstairs before setting it ablaze. The occupants woke up and jumped from the first floor to escape. They met Hornby in the back garden and were assisted by neighbours before hospital treatment for minor injuries. Hornby fled and was found hiding in a bird hut in woodland in Oare, Faversham the next day.
Admitted arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered in respect of neighbouring houses but denied attempted murder. Following trial, jury found him guilty of attempted murder.

Carlton Gregoire
Aggravated burglary *

On 2 May 2024, Carlton Gregoire and two criminal associates travelled to Kent in a Hyundai and parked near to The Brent in Dartford. They then covered their faces and two of them climbed a lamp post to enter into the building by forcing open a window. The occupant of the premises was threatened by the two men who were holding a knife and a bottle. The terrified victim fled and hid behind some cars until he saw the men leave. Police were alerted and investigators recovered CCTV that showed the offenders arriving in the Hyundai. Further enquiries identified the car had travelled from the Romford area prior to the incident, before returning. Detectives went on to prove that Gregoire had access to the vehicle and had travelled to the scene when the offence was committed. Gregoire was arrested at an address in Romford on 4 June and later charged with aggravated burglary.
Pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary. Aged 29, of Newham, London.
Abdallah Chakir
Possessing cocaine with intent to supply *

Abdallah Chakir was a passenger in a Peugeot 5008 stopped by Kent Police in Tunbridge Wells for suspicious activity. He lied about being in London for clubbing, but evidence showed he had been in Kent. Cocaine fell from his trousers, and he attempted to hide other drugs. Further drugs were found during a strip search in custody, totaling 174 street deals. He was arrested in April.

Arrested the same day, he breached his 2018 sexual harm prevention order prohibiting unsupervised contact with children under 16 and internet restrictions.
Pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order, failing to comply with notification requirements, and possessing and making indecent images of children. Judge Robert Lazarus described him as ‘a committed paedophile’. Subject to revised SHPO upon release. Previous conviction in 2018 for making and possessing child sex abuse images.

Kevin Pook, sole director of shell company NEG Services Ltd based in Ocean Drive, Gillingham, received £170,000 from victims targeted in an investment scam via a fraudulent email in October 2020. The money was intended for a legitimate company but directed to his business. He was arrested at Stansted Airport on 10 January 2024 after returning from Portugal and charged the following day.
Pleaded guilty to money laundering. Claimed he knew nothing about the offences but benefited personally. Victims refunded by their bank.
Marcus Edwards

On Sunday August 11, 2024, Marcus Edwards, 44, from Gillingham, smeared rashers of bacon on the door of a mosque in Gillingham. He recorded the incident and posted it online, claiming he would get away with it due to the justice system doing nothing, threatening to trash a mosque every day, and stating his case would not reach Crown Court. He was identified via CCTV footage.
Pleaded guilty to racially/religiously aggravated criminal damage and criminal damage. Case treated as hate crime with sentencing uplift; without aggravation, no immediate jail sentence. Judge noted offence in same bracket as current civil unrest and highly distressing to Muslim community.

He opened it to find Brett Gilham claiming to have collided with his car. Brett Gilham then forced the front door and he and Ieasha Gilham chased the man into his living room demanding money. Ieasha Gilham then stabbed the man in the back before the victim managed to get out of his home and raise the alarm with a neighbour. The offenders fled the scene and emergency services arrived, rushing the victim to a London hospital with serious injuries.

Ben Murphy targeted children both online and in person. Between January 2020 and March 2021, he contacted five unknown children via social media, requesting images of them in underwear or performing sexual acts, and in one case, incited a child to abuse their two-month-old relative for £1,000. He sent indecent images and videos of himself and requested private calls for further abuse. Additionally, in February 2021 and February 2024, he approached children in parks in Sittingbourne, making indecent suggestions, including to two children on swings in 2024, from which he fled after being told to leave.
Pleaded not guilty to the latest offence and was convicted after a trial. He had previously pleaded guilty to other sex offences and was subject to bail conditions at the time. He will serve two-thirds of the sentence before being eligible for parole, followed by two years on licence, and must sign the Sex Offenders' Register and comply with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Simon Thorpe

Simon Thorpe, aged 34 from Aylesford, was arrested on 2 February 2024 on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis as part of a network known as ‘Dave’. Police seized a phone and a kilogram of cannabis worth £3,000 to £4,000. The phone contained family photos, marketing messages to over 300 drug users in west Kent, and a restaurant booking confirmed by CCTV at a Sevenoaks steakhouse.
Pleaded guilty before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 3 February. No remorse shown for impact on community and vulnerable users.

Allan Law physically and sexually abused a woman over several months in 2022 by monitoring her social media, harassing her, restricting her contact with friends, family and colleagues, controlling her movements and access to medication, and assaulting her. The victim obtained a restraining order in October 2022, which he breached multiple times. Arrested in February 2023 and again on 29 April 2023 after assaulting the victim and preventing her from leaving a cupboard. He also assaulted an officer, spat in a cell van, and caused criminal damage to a police vehicle. The victim disclosed rape. Whilst remanded, he made 63 attempts to contact her.
Pleaded guilty to multiple breaches of a restraining order, assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage to a police vehicle. Convicted of rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and false imprisonment. Subject to a restraining order and required to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. Additional three years on licence.
Sujeepan Mangaleswaren

On 3 May 2024, a woman in her 80s was sitting on a bench, waiting for a bus in Home Gardens, Dartford, when she was approached by Sujeepan Mangaleswaren. He grabbed her handbag in an attempt to steal it using enough force to pull the victim to her feet. A struggle over the bag resulted in the handle breaking and Mangaleswaren fled only to be tackled by members of the public. He was surrounded until the police arrived and detained him. Mangaleswaren, of no fixed address, was later charged with attempted robbery.
Pleaded guilty to attempted robbery.
Nicholas Fryers

Nicholas Fryers, a 57-year-old serving prisoner on day release from HMP Standford Hill, attacked his work colleague by stabbing her more than 70 times with a screwdriver in a car park at a Sainsbury’s distribution centre in Dartford on April 9, 2023. He had become obsessed with the victim, buying her gifts and wanting to be her 'boyfriend on the side', but she rejected him and ended their friendship. He lured her to his car under false pretences, pulled her to the ground, and stabbed her in the head, chest, and back. Two co-workers intervened, and he fled the scene but was later arrested in Lancashire.
Pleaded not guilty and was found guilty after a trial. The attack was planned and described as sustained, brutal, and frenzied by witnesses.

A bloodstain discovered in a shipment of nearly half a tonne (427 kilogrammes) of cannabis, worth between £1.5 million and £2.5m, found in a storage container at a location in Formby Road, Halling, on Thursday 16 May 2024, was a DNA match for John Small, 61, from Maidstone. On Tuesday 21 May, officers spotted and arrested him filling his Chrysler 300 at a service station in Chatham; his vehicle contained a further 1kg package of cannabis and £3,200 cash. He was clearly part of an organised criminal network involved in the supply of cannabis on an industrial scale.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Chad Goodall
Burglary and causing injury by dangerous driving *

Chad Goodall broke into a property in Brasted, Sevenoaks between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on 22 December 2023, stealing designer handbags, watches, items of jewellery and an Audi E-tron. He had previously stolen a second vehicle during a burglary in Crayford ten days earlier. On 25 February 2024, while fleeing police on Green Court Road, Crockenhill, he veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a motorbike, seriously injuring the motorcyclist and pillion passenger before fleeing on foot. A burglary kit including number plates, gloves, face coverings, screwdriver, window punches and blank car key was seized from his vehicle. On 5 March 2024, he was arrested in Peckham High Street, London driving a stolen Toyota CHR containing a knife, number plates, toothed hacksaw blade, crowbar, gloves, face covering and cannabis.
Admitted charges including burglary and causing injury by dangerous driving. Also admitted two further burglaries in Nork Way, Surrey and Heath Road, Crayford. Repeat offender.
