The attack occurred underneath the railway bridge bordering Callaghan Square and St Mary Street. CCTV and mobile phone footage captured the incident. The assault continued even as the victim ran away shouting for help. Two witnesses, a bar cleaner and a delivery driver, intervened, and police were called. Stimpson was arrested within half an hour in Caroline Street and has been in custody since.
Denied four offences including rape and grievous bodily harm but was found guilty by a jury. Described as a dangerous individual and an absolute danger to women by Detective Inspector Katherine Barry.

The fraudulent certificates, including nine sent on 24 May 2024 dated for future 15 December 2024, enabled the company to receive £253,550 while operating nine defective and uncertified vehicles, two of which were unsafe. Upon discovery, the vehicles were suspended, Banwell admitted forging the certificates, and resigned as director.
Pleaded guilty. Judge acknowledged previous good character but admonished for stupidity and dishonesty, noting loss of good character and potential financial loss due to Proceeds of Crime proceedings.

The group trafficked over 70 kilograms of Heroin worth £7,000,000.

On April 6, 2024, in the early hours just after 1.24am, Matthew Woody-Jones, driving a silver Ford Transit van while disqualified, led Gwent Police on a 12-mile high-speed pursuit along the M4 towards Pontypool, Newport, and across the Prince of Wales Bridge in wet and dark conditions at speeds of 60-80 mph. He refused to stop despite multiple attempts by officers, weaved across lanes, abruptly stopped and reversed, attempted to drive the wrong way on the bridge, and collided with four police cars while trying to evade capture, causing £56,416.58 in damage. The pursuit was brought to an end through tactical manoeuvres by skilled officers. Woody-Jones claimed he panicked due to financial pressures from a rent increase and wanted to reach England to be closer to home if remanded.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and causing criminal damage. Recorder Andrew Hammond described the dashcam footage as 'truly shocking' and noted the defendant's complete disregard for the safety of officers and road users. The defendant had 33 convictions for 68 offences, including three previous convictions for driving while disqualified.

Daniel Mihai Popescu, 29, of no fixed abode, armed himself with a knife and lay in wait for his 29-year-old victim, who was known to him, before launching a savage attack in the middle of Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr, on December 5, 2023. He repeatedly stabbed her, causing injuries to her body. Officers were called just before 9.10am, and she was taken to hospital but discharged the next day. Popescu fled the scene and was arrested later that afternoon in the Merthyr area on suspicion of murder. A member of the public bravely assisted the victim after the attack.
Pleaded guilty to attempted murder and stalking offences. Detective Inspector James Morris commented on the senseless and sustained act of violence, the victim's bravery, and the intention to kill.

Michael Saltmarsh, 48, from Station Road, Caerphilly, drove a white Vauxhall Vivaro van while dangerously over the legal drink drive limit after consuming four to five pints of beer. At about 7.50pm on March 17, 2024, he ran a red light at a pelican crossing on Nantgarw Road in Caerphilly, South Wales, and ploughed into married couple Wendy Gay, 67, and David Gay, 58, killing Mrs Gay at the scene and severely injuring Mr Gay. Saltmarsh was speeding at 37-52mph in a 30mph zone, failed to stop after realising he had hit something, and drove 10 miles home. His partner discovered the damaged vehicle and a woman's handbag, leading to his arrest.
Plea of guilty. Disqualified from driving for 14 years and three months. Prior convictions for drink driving taken into account. Judge commented on the tragic consequences of driving while grossly impaired.
Dennis Yarr

Dennis Yarr committed historical sexual assaults against three girls under the age of 12 in the Vale of Glamorgan, occurring in the late 1970s and early 1990s. A search found £940 in cash and a constantly ringing mobile phone. At Cardiff Bay police station, he attempted to swallow an orange Kinder egg containing eight bags of cocaine. A search of his home revealed a second Kinder egg with 11 bags of cocaine, totaling £600 in value.
Pleaded guilty. No previous convictions. Mitigating factors include being a father of two, volunteering at a baptist church, offer of employment, and pending right to remain in the UK application. Judge described him as a foot soldier in the hierarchy of drug dealers.

He was arrested after parents confronted him, and the investigation uncovered multiple victims whom he sexually exploited.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing indecent images of a child and threatening to share a photograph or a film of a person in intimate state. Pleaded not guilty to engaging in sexual activity in presence of a child under 13, and two counts of sexual assault on a female, but was found guilty following a trial.

The victim suffered multiple fractures to his face, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung, requiring surgery and a 12-day hospital stay, with lasting physical and psychological effects. Love then assaulted a second victim in a nearby property on Ferntree Drive by punching him to the face and attempting to gouge his eyes, causing cuts and bruising.
Pleaded guilty. Described as a danger to the public by Detective Constable Alex Lloyd. Additional 4 years on licence.

Jeffrey Hickson, 62, of Brewery Street, Blyth, Northumberland, was a member of an organised crime gang involved in a £7m heroin conspiracy distributing the drug for onward supply across the UK. The gang was exposed following the arrest of former police officer Steven Creasey on May 12, 2022, in Scotland, where 5kg of heroin and 1kg of adulterant were found in his vehicle. Investigations revealed other members including Christopher Brannan, 38, and Stephen Hopkins, 59, who collected wholesale heroin in Liverpool, and couriers Heaney, Creasey, Kevin Thomson, 45, and Hickson. Profits were laundered through Kirsty Murphy's bank account. Raids in Cardiff, Liverpool, Scotland, and Northumberland uncovered drugs, jewellery, and equipment.
Convicted of conspiracy to supply heroin. POCA hearing ordered to pay £8,000 within 3 months or serve additional 4 months in default. Benefited £16,706 but assets worth £8,861.

Devon Evans, 23, of Coronation Crescent, Fochriw, Caerphilly, was involved in supplying cocaine and cannabis. On March 3, 2023, he was arrested at his property in Fochriw in relation to an unconnected matter and found in possession of £1,215 in cash, an iPhone, and 10g of herbal cannabis. Examination of the iPhone revealed evidence of cannabis supply, including a customer requesting half a kilo. In July 2023, he was seen travelling in a stolen car in Brynmawr, which was abandoned after a collision; a phone and bags containing 13.3g of cocaine and 11g of crack cocaine (value under £2,000) were seized from the car. In August 2023, a computer seized during an arrest contained messages to Luke Cable relating to drug supply. Police raids in Bargoed and Caerphilly on February 28, 2023, linked him to the operation with colleagues. A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing determined he benefited £54,487 from offending but had assets of £2,700.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of criminal property. In a separate Proceeds of Crime Act hearing, ordered to pay £2,700 within three months or serve an additional four months imprisonment in default.

CCTV footage from inside the premises captured the offending.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault. Will be a registered sex offender for 10 years.

Diar Ali, 48, of 10 Westland Close, Cardiff, was convicted of 23 food hygiene-related offences at Andalucia Kebab House in City Road, Cardiff, operated by Diolchus Ltd. Offences discovered during Shared Regulatory Service (SRS) visits starting May 26, 2021, included rodent droppings, raw meat contacting cooked food, raw chicken juice dripping onto naan bread area, incorrect refrigeration temperatures, lack of food safety management, unclean and disrepaired premises, glue traps for mice, improper hand washing, a mouse running under a drinks machine, staff preparing raw meat without apron, outdated documentation, no staff training, and food kept at wrong temperatures such as rice at room temperature. Despite some improvements and voluntary closure, further offences were found in subsequent visits through December 2021. The premises had a history of similar issues over ten years prior, leading to an E. coli outbreak hospitalising nine people. No evidence of harm from the recent offences. The business has since closed permanently.
Found guilty of 23 food hygiene-related offences. Ordered to pay £1,000 fine, £128 victim surcharge, £2,000 prosecution costs, 40 days rehabilitation activity. Prohibited from participating in the management of any food business. Previous convictions for similar offences taken into account.
