North Somerset Council prosecuted following an investigation.

Footage from a door cam showed her screaming and swearing at her dog Rocco, slamming doors, dragging him on a lead, and kicking at him multiple times, causing the dog to vocalise in distress. A vet's report indicated that Rocco suffered fear, distress, and possibly pain due to Barker's aggressive and abusive behaviour.
Maintains not guilty and plans to appeal; the dog was assessed and found to be non-aggressive during behavioural evaluations.
