In April 2024, Binu Chacko, who runs Central News and Food in Weston-super-Mare town centre, unloaded and stored a meat and fish delivery in unhygienic conditions behind his shop. He used a dirty, rusty knife to cut the food, had no hand washing facilities, failed to store the food at an appropriate temperature, and could not verify the origins of some food in his shop. North Somerset Council prosecuted following an investigation.
