James Berry, a 31-year-old father of two from Newport Road in Roath, Cardiff, was found in possession of crack cocaine, cannabis, a machete, and drug paraphernalia during a police raid on his home on February 24, 2025. Police seized 48 wraps of crack cocaine (each 0.3g, valued between £1,200 and £1,400), five bags of cannabis (each 3g), and one bag containing 26.95g of cannabis (valued between £350 and £420). A burner phone linked to drug supply, which had sent 'text bombs' to customers, was also discovered, though it could not be directly attributed to him. Berry claimed he owed a substantial drug debt that had spiralled out of control and admitted to benefiting from some financial gain.
