Michael Dumbuya, 37, of York Street, London, travelled from London with two associates to a house in Blackwood on May 20, 2025, where they carried out a terrifying assault on Cody Hudd in a case of mistaken identity. Dumbuya, employed as a professional enforcer by a wholesale drug dealer based in Colombia, mistakenly believed Hudd was responsible for the loss of 6kg of cocaine. Hudd was woken at around 1.15am, grappled by the face and throat, slapped, punched multiple times, dragged downstairs, beaten with an object causing collapse, kicked repeatedly to face, chest and body, had his breathing restricted by Dumbuya's foot on his chest, and a knife pressed to his jawline. The assault was filmed by Dumbuya. After the attack, Dumbuya fled in an Audi Q3 with false plates, leading police on a high-speed chase reaching 150mph on the M4 before crashing. A loaded sawn-off shotgun, imitation Glock 17 air pistol, balaclavas, gloves, and a black holdall were found in the vehicle. Blood on Dumbuya's coat matched Hudd's DNA, and shotgun ammunition matched Dumbuya's DNA. Hudd suffered jaw misalignment, inability to eat, nostril soreness, and split lip, with profound psychological and financial impacts.
