Alexander Creqama
Cannabis production *
Sentence
32 months imprisonment
Alexander Creqama, 23, from Albania, entered the UK illegally on the back of a lorry from Spain. He was found tending to a cannabis farm at a property in Ystradgynlais, Wales, on March 23, 2026, after police executed a drugs warrant. The house had five rooms dedicated to growing 249 cannabis plants (mature and seedlings) using hydroponic equipment, with a potential yield of 6.5kg to 19.5kg, wholesale value up to £98,000, or up to £214,000 if broken down. There had been one previous harvest, indicated by cuttings, and electricity was bypassed. He was the sole occupant, had been there for a year, claimed he was forced to look after the plants, and received £5,000 per harvest (25% of sales value).
Pleaded guilty to cannabis production. No previous convictions. Recorder Greg Bull KC noted the defendant must have been aware of the scale of the operation. In mitigation, described as young and immature, made poor decisions, entered UK illegally from Albania, unable to work legitimately, learning English in prison.
