On June 11, 2025, Mohammed Ghzanfar Hussain, a 44-year-old taxi driver from Exeter Street, Newport, failed or refused to carry a disabled passenger who would be accompanied by an assistance dog, in violation of the Equality Act 2010 which requires licensed taxi and private hire drivers to carry passengers with assistance dogs and prohibits refusal of bookings on that basis.

Pleaded guilty to an offence under the Equality Act 2010. Ordered to pay £660.04 in costs and a surcharge. Prosecution brought by Newport City Council.

Anthony Manson neglected a young Skewbald pony tethered without water or shelter in woodland near Tintern. Council officers investigated in 2023 and found the animal extremely thin and shivering. He obstructed officers. A warrant was granted and the pony was seized on October 19, 2023. The land was unsuitable for keeping animals, lacking shelter, water, and adequate grazing. A decaying carcass was also found. The pony died. Manson admitted neglecting the pony by failing to provide a suitable environment and diet, causing pain, suffering, injury and disease.

Admitted neglecting the pony. Also given an Indefinite Animal Disqualification Order and ordered to pay £13,913 in prosecution costs.
