Shakira Perry left two French bulldogs and a tabby cat without food, water, or adequate care in her property in Llanrumney, Cardiff. On March 12, 2025, RSPCA Inspector Sophie Daniels investigated after tape seals were placed on the door on March 10, 2025, to check for abandonment. The cat was found crying and following the inspector, appearing in reasonable condition but with large mammary glands suggesting recent kittens. A tan French bulldog was visible through the window, appearing lean, and later assessments showed prominent ribs. No access to food or water was available inside, and the back door was locked from the inside. Police gained entry, retrieved the thin dogs (one with an odd gait and flea burden), and handed them to RSPCA care where they eagerly ate and drank.
Pleaded guilty to one offence under the Animal Welfare Act. Banned from keeping animals for a number of years.

He was sighted by police, ran off, and jumped into a river to evade arrest. Melody was eventually found in a lane behind the property on April 17, 2025, taken to a vet, but died in RSPCA care from infections related to the initial injury. An old healed wound on the hind leg was also self-treated without vet attention, causing weeks of unnecessary pain.

On December 16, Jay Roberts, 31, from Canton, Cardiff, entered the Asda store at Capital Shopping Park (Leckwith Retail Park), Leckwith Road, with a brown-handled knife tucked into his waistband. Shoppers, including children, observed the knife as he walked through the store. He then proceeded to his car in the car park, where he brandished the weapon by pulling it out, though he made no threats or aggressive actions towards anyone. Frightened witnesses photographed him and alerted police, who arrested him less than an hour later at his flat in Hafod Court, Cowbridge Road East, where the knife was visible on a table. Roberts was suffering from paranoia, believing his WiFi was being hacked and motorists were targeting him. The incident caused significant distress to the public, including a young child who had just exited the store.
Pleaded guilty at first court appearance on December 17. Sentence reduced from 18 months due to early guilty plea. Previous conviction for possessing an offensive weapon in 2008 (aged 14) taken into account. Diagnosed with ADHD and OCD; self-medicated with cannabis leading to paranoia and psychosis. While being forcibly removed and restrained by door staff up the stairs, he struck a female door staff member in the face with force, causing her to hit the back of her head on a wall. The victim suffered marks to her cheek, a lump to the back of her head, and pain to the right side of her face. Omar was extremely intoxicated and had no recollection of the incident.
Pleaded guilty to assault by beating. One previous conviction for assaulting an emergency worker. Asylum seeker from Sudan, moved to UK in 2022, traumatic background, taking English lessons, eager for employment, has not drunk alcohol since incident, feels sorry and ashamed.

He and a passenger fled but he was detained. On November 11, 2026, stopped again, cannabis was found in his vehicle, which he admitted was for personal use.

He asked her to 'bend over' in front of him and to 'get her breasts out'. He sent a photo of himself performing a sex act over his clothing and then a video of himself exposing his penis. This caused the victim significant distress, leading to stress, anxiety, sleep issues, self-harm, and cannabis use to cope.
Pleaded guilty. Of previous good character. Poor mental health, lack of social skills, isolation, loneliness, history of bullying, anxiety, depression, witnessed mother's death in 2023, gambling addiction with debts.

In interview, he claimed the images were not indecent, stated attraction to boys over 14, and believed the children were 15-16 years old, denying knowledge of illegality. The offences occurred after his retirement from working as a teaching assistant at a secondary school, during which he began communicating with individuals in the USA via social media.

He told officers he was 'rushing for work'.

Ryan Robinson, 51, of Heol Calfin in Swansea, conducted multiple shoplifting incidents, stealing alcohol and other items worth thousands of pounds from Tesco stores in Pembroke Dock and Aberystwyth, and from Boots in Bridgend. The thefts were captured on CCTV and involved loading trolleys with items before leaving without payment.
Pleaded guilty to one charge and was found guilty in absence of three others. The sentence includes activation of a previously imposed suspended sentence.

On May 10, 2023, David Evans, 50, of Cysgod Y Coleg, Bala, was caught fishing on the Afon Tryweryn without a valid fishing rod licence during patrols by Natural Resources Wales enforcement officers. He admitted to the offence when questioned.
Found guilty in absence. A Natural Resources Wales spokesperson emphasised that fishing without a licence is a criminal offence and unfair to legal anglers.

Vincent Enos, a 54-year-old man from Barry, made more than 250 unnecessary and nuisance calls to emergency services over a 12-month period, sometimes claiming people were dead, unwell or being abused. When police and paramedics responded, no incidents were found. One call prompted an air ambulance response. The hoax calls cost the ambulance service £5,000 and tied up police call handlers for 28 hours, 2 minutes, and 15 seconds.
Found guilty of persistently making use of public communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety. Also ordered to pay victim surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85. Issued a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order prohibiting contact with emergency services except in genuine emergencies.

Assaulting an emergency worker *

In January 2022, Lauren Barnett, a female patient, assaulted paramedic Rhys Morgan and a colleague while they were treating her for a medical emergency. In the ambulance, she punched Rhys, causing a needle stick injury. At the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, she threw herself off the bed, grabbed his wrist, and pushed him through a door, resulting in him falling and breaking his wrist, as well as exacerbating his pre-existing scoliosis.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

On April 6, 2023, Detective Inspector Paul Giess purchased a bottle of wine and drank from it in his vehicle before attempting to drive six miles home. He was stopped by police on the A48 in Laleston, Bridgend, where a breath test showed he was over the drink drive limit. He was arrested and taken to Queens Road police station in Bridgend.
Pleaded guilty to drink driving. Found to have 41 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Later dismissed from South Wales Police for gross misconduct.
