Mohamed Mohamoud, a 22-year-old security guard, travelled from Heathrow to Somalia between 30 January and 3 March 2025 to join Daesh. He was arrested at his home on 20 January this year and digital devices were seized. Evidence showed he had sought help on Telegram to travel to Somalia to join the 'Mujahedeen', stated his ambition was to become a 'martyr', and had videos of Daesh propaganda including beheadings, executions and battlefield footage.

Found guilty after a three-week trial of preparation of acts of terrorism. Radicalised online and travelled from Heathrow to Somalia between 30 January and 3 March 2025 to join Daesh. Arrested on 20 January this year; extremist material and Daesh propaganda were found on his digital devices.

Michael Casey

Causing death by dangerous driving *

Michael Casey, 24, from Tottenham, was behind the wheel of a black Ford Focus on November 8, speeding and over the drink-drive limit, when he struck a 16-year-old victim and a 17-year-old victim on a pedestrian crossing on Queens Avenue in Aldershot at 7.10pm. Both girls were crossing after a running club training session, obeying the red traffic lights and green man signal. They suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Forensic experts confirmed Casey had at least six seconds to react but failed to slow down or stop.

Pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Also banned from driving for 10 years.

On Christmas Day 2016, just after midnight, Michael John Hudson punched the 57-year-old victim in an unprovoked assault on Pier Street in Ventnor, Isle of Wight. The victim had been enjoying a Christmas Eve meal with family at The Rose Inn when a row erupted. The argument moved outside, and Hudson delivered a single punch that fractured the victim's jaw and caused him to fall, fatally hitting his head. The victim, a well-respected prison officer and father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the first day of his trial. Alcohol-related violence. Inspector noted Hudson admitted drinking but not to excess.

Richard Fuller

Richard Fuller evaded over £150,000 in Capital Gains Tax from the sale of properties in and around Aldershot in Hampshire between 2006 and 2013. The fraud, totalling £157,725, was discovered by HMRC's property task force. He was arrested at Gatwick Airport in October 2014 after returning from a holiday in Turkey. Following a trial in July, he was sentenced last week.

Petru-Gabriel Dumea

On the evening of Tuesday, 2 August 2021, a 30-year-old woman was socialising at the Black Sheep public house in Petersfield when Dumea started talking to her in the smoking area. At around 11pm, she left to find her husband. Dumea followed her, falsely claiming her husband was in the kebab shop nearby and offered to walk her there. Instead, he forced her into his nearby home. Inside, he tried to kiss her and told her to go upstairs. She refused and tried to push him away, but he forced her backwards onto the stairs and raped her. Shortly after, another man entered the property, confronted Dumea, allowing the woman to escape. The next day, Wednesday 3 August 2021, she reported to police and Dumea was arrested and charged with one count of rape.

Pleaded guilty to rape at an earlier hearing. Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Philip Banning

Philip Banning, a 68-year-old former Team GB runner and qualified athletics coach, sexually abused four schoolgirls under the age of 16, including an 11-year-old, while coaching at Andover 1 Club during the 1970s and 80s. The abuse took place in his car during lifts home, under the guise of sports massages, and in a room beneath his stairs at parties where alcohol was served to minors. One survivor described how Banning gave her a Valentine's card at age 12, calling it his 'special way' of showing affection. Another recounted a 'brutal and forceful' first kiss that left her shattered. The victims said he violated a position of trust and stole their childhoods.

Pleaded guilty to 18 counts of indecent assault on underage girls. Must sign the sex offenders register for life. Judge Keith Cutler CBE condemned his abuse of trust, stating he groomed and abused his position without care for the lifelong damage caused.
