The breaches occurred in January 2024, February 2024, and on 4 September 2024, when he obtained mobile phones with internet access and created accounts on Facebook and Instagram. Lee Benneyworth and Jamie Massiah walked into TH Baker jewellers on The High Street in Alton at around 3.35pm on Tuesday, 8 February, made enquiries about Rolex watches before leaving the shop. Both men returned a short time later and began shouting at staff, demanding they place jewellery in a bag. The men then smashed cabinets and took jewellery on display before fleeing. Officers identified a black mini used in the robbery. Later the same day, Benneyworth and Massiah were located with the black mini in the Havant area. Officers found them in possession of cash and a number of tags that had been removed from the stolen jewellery.

Pleaded guilty to robbery. Aged 40, of no fixed abode.

James Utting of St Michael's Road, Aldershot, posed as a 15-year-old girl on social media to prey on boys aged 8 to 16 from locations including Humberside, Grimsby, Sussex, Leeds, Bradford, Southampton, Wakefield, Barnsley and Sheffield between June 7, 2016 and July 24, 2018. He induced over 400 boys to send indecent images and videos, threatening to share them if they refused, and in some cases carried out the threats. Police identified images of 401 boys, 11 charged relating to specific victims. Victim impact statements detailed devastating effects including anxiety, depression, humiliation and one suicide threat.

Pleaded guilty to 43 offences. Admitted 116 offences to be taken into consideration. Extended licence for 5 years on release. Sentencing remarks by Her Honour Judge Jane Miller QC highlighted the severe impact on victims.

In 2018, Jonathan Furber, of Salisbury Road, Andover, began messaging an account he believed belonged to a 14-year-old girl named Hannah, operated by an adult female from a vigilante paedophile hunter group. Despite knowing her age, he sent sexually explicit pictures, moved conversations to WhatsApp with extremely graphic sexualised messaging including a video of himself masturbating, and suggested she do the same. He arranged a meeting at a pub intending to take her into the forest for sex, but was confronted and citizen's arrested by the group upon arrival, who livestreamed the event. Police arrested him subsequently.

Pleaded guilty to two charges. Ordered to attend a sex offenders course, 25 days rehabilitation activity, 100 hours unpaid work, sexual harm prevention order, and surrender phone for destruction. Judge Miller QC described it as a 'one and only' opportunity, noting considerable remorse and chance of rehabilitation.

Jonathan Pay

On 16 May, just after 4pm, Jonathan Pay and an unidentified accomplice stormed Lloyds Bank in Liphook armed with a knife and an air gun. The air gun was discharged. During the attempted robbery, a 50-year-old customer from Headley Down was seriously injured, suffering a pellet wound to a nerve cluster near his skull and a small stab wound. He was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital but discharged later. The pair fled empty-handed. Pay was later charged and pleaded guilty to all offences.

Pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted robbery, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear, and wounding with intent. The judge described his actions as 'chilling and callous' and declared Pay 'dangerous'.

He admitted all offences and was jailed for five years and seven months at Winchester Crown Court on January 5, 2024.

Keith Sayer was found in possession of more than 178,000 child sex abuse images, including category A images of newborn babies and toddlers, stored on 19 devices in a deliberate filing system. Also possessed six paedophile manuals, cable ties, masking tape, bungee ties, children’s colouring sets, and a newspaper article on child abduction. Police raided his bedsit in April 2019 after detecting IP addresses accessing indecent images; he was banned from devices under a SOPO.

Pleaded guilty to six charges of making indecent images (32 months), breach of SOPO (2 years), and possessing six paedophile manuals (6 months), all consecutive. He had been the admin of an online account sharing images of children with other paedophiles and had been communicating sexually with a 13-year-old girl. Formerly of Cedar Close, Walsall, WS5 4LJ.

James Hedges, 36, of Cumberland Avenue in Basingstoke, and Lauren O’Hanlon, 28, of no fixed address, sexually abused a young boy on a number of occasions at an address in Ash, Surrey, in November 2017. Police found images of the abuse on a phone belonging to Hedges, arrested on 6 March 2018 for possessing an iPhone in breach of his SHPO which prohibited internet access. The phone contained evidence of the abuse and more than a thousand other indecent images of children.

Denied offences but found guilty by a jury following a two-week trial. Charged with five counts of sexual assault and six counts relating to making and distributing indecent images.

Lauren O'Hanlon and her partner James Hedges sexually assaulted a young boy on multiple occasions in November 2017 at an address in Ash, Surrey. They also possessed indecent images of children. The offences were uncovered when Hedges was arrested on 6 March 2018 for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order by possessing an iPhone, which contained evidence of the abuse. O'Hanlon was charged with five counts of sexual assault and six counts relating to indecent images. She denied the charges but was found guilty after a two-week trial at Winchester Crown Court in June 2019. She was sentenced on 16 August 2019.

Officers pulled him over and found a bag containing white powder (later confirmed as cocaine) in the driver’s door, £30,810 in cash wrapped in elastic bands in a Tesco carrier bag, an additional £360 in cash, a piece of cardboard with a deal list, several burner style mobile phones and an Encrophone.

Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug and possession of criminal property. Court ruled he was responsible for the supply of 6kg of import grade cocaine. Also received a 16-month driving ban for driving with a specified controlled drug above the limit.

Sadaqat suffered life-threatening injuries and died in hospital on July 25.

The 52-year-old from Andrew Crescent, Waterlooville, was driving an articulated lorry through Warnford on June 29, 2019, when he attempted to overtake a cyclist on a bend, straddling the double white lines of the single carriageway as three other vehicles – two cars and a motorbike – were travelling in the opposite direction. His actions forced these vehicles to brake suddenly, causing the motorcyclist, Jack Burgess, to come off his motorbike and suffer fatal injuries. The 22-year-old died in hospital the following day.

Michael Casey, 24, from Tottenham, was behind the wheel of a black Ford Focus on November 8, speeding and over the drink-drive limit, when he struck 16-year-old Stacey Burrows and 17-year-old Lucy Pygott on a pedestrian crossing on Queens Avenue in Aldershot at 7.10pm. Both girls were crossing after a running club training session, obeying the red traffic lights and green man signal. They suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Forensic experts confirmed Casey had at least six seconds to react but failed to slow down or stop.

Pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Also banned from driving for 10 years.

Michael Littlefield

Sexual assault of a child under 13 *

Michael Littlefield sexually abused three children on multiple occasions over a six-year period between August 2014 and October 2020, including a child he used to babysit, in the Eastleigh and Hedge End areas. He was found guilty of eight counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Found guilty by a jury after a five-day trial at Southampton Crown Court. Ordered to serve an additional four years on licence upon release. Subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Michael John Hudson

On Christmas Day 2016, just after midnight, Michael John Hudson punched 57-year-old Nick Medlin in an unprovoked assault on Pier Street in Ventnor, Isle of Wight. Nick Medlin had been enjoying a Christmas Eve meal with family at The Rose Inn when a row erupted. The argument moved outside, and Hudson delivered a single punch that fractured Nick's jaw and caused him to fall, fatally hitting his head. Nick Medlin, a well-respected prison officer and father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the first day of his trial. Alcohol-related violence. Inspector noted Hudson admitted drinking but not to excess.

Mark Kempster

Between 2013 and 2015, Mark Kempster repeatedly visited a 61-year-old woman in Southampton, charging her £15,000 for supposed roof tile replacements that were grossly overcharged and often unnecessary. On 17 February 2015, he convinced a 90-year-old woman in Andover to pay up front for roof repairs, driving her to a bank but fleeing when the manager became suspicious. In May 2015, he charged an 82-year-old woman in Alresford £1,860 for repairs that were never carried out. In November 2015, an 84-year-old Gosport resident paid £2,650 for incomplete roofing work.

Admitted six counts of fraud by false representation. Targeted elderly women across Hampshire. A confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act is scheduled for July 18.

Matt Baker, Head of Build at E.ON, accepted bribes worth millions from sub-contractors Priddy Engineering Ltd and RK Civil Engineering Ltd between 2011 and 2015 to secure work on E.ON projects including the district heating project for Cranbrook new town in Devon. He deposited the cash into bank accounts with his wife Angela and spent it on home improvements, holidays and luxury cars, concealing payments with false references and fake wage slips.

Found guilty on charges including fraud, bribery and money laundering.

Matthew Cobden

Causing death by careless driving *

18 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for 2 years and 9 months

On 22 August 2016, Matthew Cobden, 39, of Long Lodge Drive, offered 13-year-old Alexander Worth a ride in a £1 million Ferrari F50 near his car storage facility in Hook Road, North Warnborough. Neither wore a seatbelt. During the short journey along a public lane, Cobden lost control and crashed into fencing. Alexander suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Cobden was seriously injured and hospitalised. He was found guilty of causing death by careless driving.

Pleaded not guilty; found guilty by a 10-2 majority verdict. Sentenced today at Winchester Crown Court. The investigating officer said: 'This is a truly tragic case... If anything can be taken away from this, it's the importance of wearing a seatbelt.'
