The householder had set up cameras and traps to catch a mouse and later saw the footage. Police viewed the footage and found distinctive clothing worn during the incident at Rae's home. She admitted burglary.

Jordan Armstrong assaulted a police constable in custody on June 28 after officers became concerned for his welfare; the following day he stole alcohol worth £70 from a garage in Hensingham. On July 16 he pushed a different constable during a scuffle in custody. He failed to surrender to Workington Magistrates Court on July 28 and August 10. On August 31, while on bail, he shouted in his then-girlfriend's face, swung her by her backpack, threw her phone into a field, threw her to the ground and punched her in the face. She suffered a black eye, grazed knees and whiplash.

Pleaded guilty to six offences: two counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of duty, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft and two counts of failing to surrender to custody. Had a previous domestic violence conviction from 2023. Also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge and made subject to a two-year restraining order.

Abdullah Osman rode an unlit electric bike the wrong way along the M6 between junctions 43 and 44 at about 00:30 GMT on 12 December. Several motorists reported him and police stopped him near Carlisle. He was riding without a licence, insurance, lights, reflective equipment or protective gear.

Admitted dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and no insurance. The judge said the standard of driving was exceptionally poor and put himself and other road users at risk.

Peter Little, 41, of Grasmere Terrace, Maryport, sent two Facebook messages in March to Baroness Hayman, the former Labour MP for Workington (2015-2019), which were of a grossly offensive or indecent, obscene or menacing character. This was his third court appearance; he had previously been jailed in 2021 for a threatening email to the Allerdale Borough Council chief executive and MP Mark Jenkinson, and received a suspended sentence for verbally abusing neighbours and subjecting female police officers to homophobic abuse.

Sent two grossly offensive Facebook messages to Baroness Hayman in March. Paul Gibbons, aged 56, of Trafalgar Street, Carlisle, was driving an Audi A6 when he collided with a couple’s vehicle on Denton Street in Carlisle’s Denton Holme at around 9.10pm on August 30, 2023. He was more than three times the legal alcohol limit (113 micrograms in 100ml of breath; limit 35mcg). The impact caused severe damage to the other vehicle, spinning it 180 degrees. Gibbons drove away but was stopped at Lorne Crescent where his damaged vehicle showed collision marks. He failed a roadside breath test.

Repeat offender with three previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol and two for failing to provide a specimen. Defence stated not alcohol dependent, lost job, seeking employment. Judge noted offence aggravated by previous convictions and no realistic prospect of rehabilitation.
