On November 19, 2024, in Pewsey, Bernie Ward drove a suspicious vehicle with stolen number plates on Swan Road. When pulled over by police, he crashed head-on into one police car, reversed into a second, and then smashed a third while attempting to evade capture. He and two masked passengers were arrested on the spot; police found tools, a fire extinguisher, and cloned plates inside the car.
Convicted of handling stolen goods, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.

On 1st September 1986, George Stephenson and brothers John and George Daly interrupted a dinner party at Burgate House, Fordingbridge. They bound and gagged Joseph Cleaver (82), his wife Hilda (82), son Thomas (49), daughter-in-law Wendy (46), and nurse Margaret Murphy (70). Petrol was poured over Joseph, Hilda, Thomas and Margaret who were burned alive. Wendy was repeatedly raped and strangled. The trio stole shotguns, a .22 rifle and electrical items. Stephenson had been sacked as handyman three weeks prior after assaulting his wife. He surrendered two days later.
Found guilty of four murders, rape and robbery. Judge recommended at least 25 years before eligible for release. Parole Board denied release in 2023. Died in custody on 20 April 2025.

Elliot Ayres, 18, of Merryman Drive in Crowthorne, and Paul John Stevens were in a stolen black Fiat 500 on Reading Road, Yateley, on 16 March 2021 when they saw the victim’s black Mercedes. The driver of the Fiat pulled in front of the Mercedes, blocking it, and aimed a shotgun at the driver. Stevens fired a single shot into the side of the Mercedes, causing significant damage. No one was injured. The victims were two 24-year-old men from Surrey, targeted due to mistaken identity. The Fiat was later found burnt out, and the sawn-off double-barrelled shotgun was recovered.
Convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life following a five-week trial. Found not guilty of attempted murder.

Dale Carter broke into a property on Oak Road at around 4:15 am on Monday, 8 July. He stole a wallet and car keys before driving off in a Kia Sportage parked in the driveway. Officers located the stolen vehicle at around 5:40 am in Farnborough, where Carter was arrested. He also committed seven counts of theft from various shops, including M&S, Superdrug, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons, stealing over £750 worth of goods such as alcohol, furniture, cosmetics, and meat between 13 June and 7 July.
Pleaded guilty to burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. Admitted to seven counts of theft from shops. Of no fixed abode.

Lee Benneyworth and Jamie Massiah walked into TH Baker jewellers on The High Street in Alton at around 3.35pm on Tuesday, 8 February, made enquiries about Rolex watches before leaving the shop. Both men returned a short time later and began shouting at staff, demanding they place jewellery in a bag. The men then smashed cabinets and took jewellery on display before fleeing. Officers identified a black mini used in the robbery. Later the same day, Benneyworth and Massiah were located with the black mini in the Havant area. Officers found them in possession of cash and a number of tags that had been removed from the stolen jewellery.
Pleaded guilty to robbery. Aged 40, of no fixed abode.

Ian Robinson assaulted a woman in a residential property on High Street in Aldershot on Thursday 19 November last year. The victim was left with significant facial injuries and bruising following the attack. Robinson was charged following a long investigation by Hampshire Constabulary.

Hughes entered stores in Andover between 11 September and 31 October, committing thefts including three incidents of shoplifting from TK Maxx totalling approximately £400 between 14 September and 14 October, and entering Boots on 31 October stealing items worth approximately £260. On 15 October, he assaulted a security guard and made threats of violence. These actions breached a CBO issued on 31 July 2021, which banned him from abusing or threatening persons in retail premises in Andover and entering stores including TK Maxx, Boots, and Wilkinsons.

Lawrence Hutchinson, 30, of Fullers Hill, Little Gransden, Cambridgeshire, was spotted driving erratically on Sunday 27 February last year on the A30 near the Wheatsheaf Pub near Basingstoke. Officers pulled him over and found a bag containing white powder (later confirmed as cocaine) in the driver’s door, £30,810 in cash wrapped in elastic bands in a Tesco carrier bag, an additional £360 in cash, a piece of cardboard with a deal list, several burner style mobile phones and an Encrophone.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug and possession of criminal property. Court ruled he was responsible for the supply of 6kg of import grade cocaine. Also received a 16-month driving ban for driving with a specified controlled drug above the limit.

On 8 June, Hall entered a BP Garage on West Street in Portchester with another man and threatened staff members, fleeing with approximately £97 in cash and £74 worth of tobacco. On 14 June, Hall entered a Co-Op store on Northern Parade in Hilsea and stole £800 in cash and a closed till after threatening staff members. No-one was injured in either incident.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery at a previous hearing. Branded a dangerous offender by Recorder Michael Bowes QC whose impulsive and reckless behaviour posed a serious risk to the public. Extended licence imposed on basis of dangerousness.

At 7.12am on Thursday 9 September 2021, officers were called to a report of a stabbing at an address in Andover Road, Winchester. The victim, a 38-year-old man, had suffered multiple stab wounds to his head, thigh, back, shoulder and wrist. He was transported to Southampton General Hospital where he underwent surgery. Zheng was arrested later that morning.

The 52-year-old from Andrew Crescent, Waterlooville, was driving an articulated lorry through Warnford on June 29, 2019, when he attempted to overtake a cyclist on a bend, straddling the double white lines of the single carriageway as three other vehicles – two cars and a motorbike – were travelling in the opposite direction. His actions forced these vehicles to brake suddenly, causing the motorcyclist, Jack Burgess, to come off his motorbike and suffer fatal injuries. The 22-year-old died in hospital the following day.
Found guilty of death by dangerous driving by a jury in August. Banned from driving for five years from the time of his release and ordered to take an extended retest. Shown no remorse.

Leon Fitzpatrick, 19, of Launcelot Close, Andover, harassed his ex-partner between February and May 2022 by sending intimidating messages to her Snapchat account, threatening and intimidating voice-notes (including disguised voice and laughing at her), bragging about biting someone's ear off, threatening violence towards her sister, and sending a photo of himself in a pub close to her house on the evening of 28 May.
Pleaded guilty to harassment and three breaches of a non-molestation order given on July 1, 2021. Restraining order granted for five years preventing contact with victim and excluding him from her address.
