Police found Whitelock responsible for a violent attack that caused her death on 23 August 2023. He initially admitted responsibility but later claimed he saw someone else near the property. The attack was motiveless and involved extreme violence against a vulnerable woman who had been kind to him.

He was employed at Penyrheol Comprehensive School but was suspended; no pupils were involved. He pleaded guilty, and Judge Geraint Walters imposed a 12-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, along with a rehabilitation activity requirement and a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.

He claimed to be there to 'rescue her' and threatened to kill her if she asked questions. The victim attempted to escape but was followed and assaulted outside and inside the house, suffering significant physical injuries including loss of several teeth and bruising. Two family members intervened, disturbing the attack. Guiver had attempted to enter another nearby house earlier. He was arrested shortly after the incident.
Pleaded guilty to all six charges. Described as a ‘violent and dangerous offender’ by the judge.
Jivan Dean
Causing grievous bodily harm with intent *

Jivan Dean, 24, attacked Raven Riley who was visiting a friend at a house in an area of Carmarthenshire known as Tipi Valley, on 14 August 2024. The 20-year-old victim was sat in a chair when Dean entered the room carrying a pan containing the liquid. Dean threw the liquid towards Mr Riley who instantly felt it burn. Mr Riley was helped by others who took him to hospital where he was treated for serious chemical burns. Dean was arrested two days later in the Llanelli area, and tests carried out on his clothes showed traces of Sodium Hydroxide.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and also to cause a dangerous or noxious thing to be received, with intent to burn.
Matthew Davies
Possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs *

On 13 September 2024, police community support officers noticed a grey Ford Transit van driven by a suspected disqualified driver in Llanelli. The van parked outside a storage container in the Dafen area. Matthew Davies tried to lock the container and fled. Officers searched it and found 17 packets of cocaine, cannabis worth £7,000, weighing scales, mobile phones, and £46,000 in cash hidden in a drawer. Davies handed himself in on 15 September 2024 and was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs. Analysis of messages on his phones confirmed he was an active drug dealer.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and possessing criminal property. Ordered to forfeit £46,000 in cash.
Jerry Harty
Dangerous driving *

On October 9, 2021, Jerry Harty, a disqualified driver who had never held a full driving licence and was previously disqualified in 2018, sped away from police in Haverfordwest after they attempted to pull over his black Peugeot 308 near Salutation Square roundabout. He drove dangerously, including excessive speed up to 90mph in a 50mph zone and 60mph in a 30mph zone, overtaking vehicles in the oncoming lane, going the wrong way around roundabouts, and forcing other drivers to brake suddenly. Police called off the pursuit due to risk to the public but later located and arrested him near Freystrop where he tried to dump the car. He was charged with failing to stop, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, dangerous driving, and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.
Ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work, engage with rehabilitation activity for 20 days, and disqualified from driving for three years. Initially pleaded not guilty but changed plea to guilty.

The investigation by South Wales Police revealed Rogers' online interactions with underage girls, where he engaged in explicit chats and shared abusive content. Residing at Lon Tanyrallt in Alltwen, Rogers' actions demonstrated a clear pattern of grooming and exploitation. The court highlighted the severity of his offences, noting the profound harm caused to vulnerable children through digital means.
Pleaded guilty to seven counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child, one count of causing a child to watch sexual activity, and one count of distributing a Category C indecent image of a child. On October 24, 2023, three Carpathian mountain dogs owned by Jennifer Hopkins attacked a Yodel delivery driver at her address in the Blaenwaun area. The driver was delivering a parcel when the dogs ran towards her, biting her on the hand, hip, and belt line, causing severe injuries that exposed bone and tendons, required two operations, and left her hand not fully healed by the time of sentencing. Hopkins provided a rag for the wound and took the victim to A&E, but there were inadequate signs and security measures in place at the time.
Pleaded guilty with no previous convictions. The dogs remained with her, and one has since died. Judge Huw Rees noted the victim's innocence and inadequate protection at the property.

Richard Gallear, 51, of Llandysul, was caught after a tip-off from Cheshire Police to Dyfed-Powys Police regarding his online searches for illegal material. In October, officers raided his home in Velindre and found 638 indecent images of children on his phone, including films of girls as young as six being raped. The images were categorised as 206 level A, 205 level B, and 227 level C. He admitted deriving sexual gratification from the images. He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.

Adam Bell, 19, from Richmond upon Thames, was working at a food stall at the Init Together festival in Margam Park on 24 May 2024 when he approached a plain-clothed security officer and offered to sell him 'ket' (ketamine). Police were informed, leading to his arrest. Bags of white powder and scales were found in his tent. Examination of his phone revealed 146 category A, 63 category B, and 75 category C indecent photographs of children, some shared, as well as a voyeuristic video of a young female taken by Bell from underneath her skirt without her knowledge.
Pleaded guilty on 26 July 2024 to 3 x making indecent photographs of children; 1 x distributing indecent photographs of children; 1 x voyeurism; 1 x possession of a controlled drug of class B (Ketamine) with intent to supply. The abuse lasted hours, leaving the victim with marks on her neck, head, face, upper chest, and bruising on her arm and back. A second attack occurred on February 15, 2024, when Page returned to the home, became angry over messages on her phone, assaulted her again, threatened to kill her, and smashed her TV. The victim fled and reported the attacks to police on February 17, 2024. Page was arrested and charged with intentional strangulation, threats to kill, criminal damage, and assault by beating.

On June 20, 2024, he posed as a window cleaner to an 85-year-old woman, requested £55, made an inappropriate request for physical contact, and left with the money. On June 21, 2024, he approached a 63-year-old housebound woman with mobility issues as a massage therapist, offering a £55 service. In a separate incident on February 16, 2024, he assaulted an emergency worker by pushing a female officer in the chest after a disagreement with his parents at his family home.
Pleaded guilty to trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault, fraud, and assault of an emergency worker. Indefinite restraining orders imposed protecting all victims. Placed on the sex offenders register and subject to a sexual harm prevention order. Judge Geraint Walters commented on the seriousness of the offences given the defendant's young age.

On February 23, 2021, outside the CEM Day's garage on Swansea Road in Garngoch, Stephen Fisher was driving his uninsured Jaguar XF at grossly excessive speeds, reaching 77mph in a 40mph zone and accelerating hard, when he collided with Gareth Evans' Honda Jazz as it pulled onto the road. The impact caused catastrophic injuries to 84-year-old former rugby referee and soldier Gareth Evans, who was airlifted to hospital and pronounced dead that afternoon. Fisher had been instructed by his employer to use another vehicle but disobeyed. Post-crash, he attempted to get his boss to lie about insurance coverage and falsely told police he was driving at 40mph. CCTV and vehicle data confirmed his excessive speed. He was charged in September 2023 after delays in obtaining data from the vehicle's manufacturer.

Peter Gilmore

On February 1, 2024, Peter Gilmore was driving a Citroen Dispatch van on the A487 from Aberystwyth to Llanrhystud and the B4337 towards Talsarn when he exhibited dangerous driving behaviour, including driving closely behind large vehicles, nearly crashing head-on, weaving across the road, and narrowly avoiding collisions over 14.2 miles. He attempted to overtake a lorry but pulled into the path of an oncoming Hyundai, causing a head-on collision that left the victim with a fractured sternum, two fractured ribs, and whiplash injuries. Gilmore tested positive for cannabis, slurred his words, and had abnormal pupils at the scene. He had been stopped earlier that day for drug-driving and disqualified at another court.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a sample for analysis. He had 44 previous convictions, including for dangerous driving in 2004 and several instances of driving whilst disqualified. Judge Geraint Walters noted the facts were 'truly disturbing' and that it was remarkable he drove after being stopped earlier. He accepted full responsibility and apologised at the scene.
