Andras Jancso
Kidnapping and sexual assault *
Sentence
6 years imprisonment
In the early hours of Sunday 2nd July 2023, the victim was looking to return home after a night out in Swansea with friends. She entered what she believed to be a taxi – the vehicle was parked in a taxi rank area used by licensed taxi drivers – and requested to be taken to her home address. However, the driver of the vehicle, Andras Jancso, was merely impersonating a taxi driver. After altering from the victim’s expected route back to her home address, he locked the doors to prevent her escape and sexually assaulted her. The victim used her mobile phone to call and share her location with a friend, as well as to take video from the front passenger seat of the vehicle – later used to help identify her attacker. After rebuffing Jancso’s unwanted advances, she eventually convinced him to drop her off a distance away from her home address, so that he did not find out where she lived.
Victim attended trial in person with no special measures. Detective Constable Abi Doxsey praised the victim's bravery in identifying the attacker.

Fiona Harwood
Fraud *
Sentence
28 months imprisonment
Fiona Harwood, 50, stole nearly £100,000 from a widow in her eighties to fund a spending spree on clothes, a holiday and dating websites. She started out as a part-time cleaner for the victim but over a number of years she struck up a friendship with the woman and started siphoning off thousands of pounds from her accounts. By the time the fraud was discovered, the elderly woman had just £6,000 left in her account and had even amended her will to leave Harwood her house after her death. Harwood, of High Street in Neyland, Pembrokeshire, had been informally caring for the widow after the death of the pensioner's husband in 2016 and had been claiming a carer's allowance. Her fraud only came to light when the elderly woman obtained her bank statements to find four pages-worth of payments to Debenhams, Amazon, Next, Joules and even online dating sites. As well as using the victim’s card to go shopping, financial checks showed Harwood had withdrawn £18,676 from ATMs, and transferred £50,300 to her own account.
Used funds for clothes, holiday and dating websites.
