The first overtake was on a corner despite solid white lines, and the second nearly caused a head-on collision, avoided only by evasive action from the lorry driver and an oncoming vehicle. The incidents were captured on dashcam footage sent to Operation Snap, leading to an investigation by GoSafe which identified Jones.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. Initially stated his driving was not dangerous.

In July 2020, he was found nearby after Mustafa Saiid's vehicle was stopped in Aberystwyth. The pair denied knowing each other and provided Manchester addresses. The next day, police intercepted their car returning from Manchester, finding Issak with 42 wraps of crack cocaine hidden in his body (street value £420). Calls from known Aberystwyth drug users to his seized phone indicated intent to deal. Digital evidence showed deleted messages and texts advertising cocaine availability.

Mustafa Saiid, aged 22, was part of an organised crime gang supplying class A drugs (cocaine, heroin) and class B drugs (cannabis) to Aberystwyth from Manchester. The group used multiple mobile phones and SIM cards to send mass messages to drug users offering drugs. Saiid was the registered owner of a Vauxhall Corsa stopped by police in July 2020 in Aberystwyth, where £400 and a SIM card were found hidden in his sock. He was involved in trips to Manchester to collect supplies and returned to Ceredigion shortly after detention. Digital evidence showed messages advertising drugs for sale. Later, he was stopped again in Machynlleth with Faisel Ahmed and a 16-year-old, leading to further arrests.
Admitted the offences. Four years and six months for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, six months for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs (concurrent), and six months for an arson offence in another area.

Causing serious injury by dangerous driving *

Rhodri Rees caused a head-on collision on the A476 in Llannon, near Llanelli, by overtaking another car on a bend at around 7.40am on December 11, 2020. He had consumed 13 cans of strong lager the night before, continuing into the early hours, and had little sleep before driving. The crash trapped both drivers, who were cut free by firefighters. The pregnant woman suffered serious, life-changing injuries requiring multiple operations; she was unable to walk for a year and still suffers effects. Blood alcohol at the time of collision estimated at 113-129mg per 100ml, well over the legal limit.
Pleaded guilty at a previous hearing. Also disqualified from driving for three years and 9 months, with a requirement for an extended test to regain his license.

When caught, she claimed she had picked up the wallet - which contained £300 in cash - by accident, and had been too embarrassed to return it. The theft of the wallet by a person he trusted shook the victim's faith in human nature during what were the last months of his life, and he died months later. Anita Sherwin-Jones, 50, exploited a friendship with an elderly neighbour she cared for to steal thousands of pounds. She took advantage of the man - who was in his 80s and experiencing deteriorating health - to help herself to £4,500 from his bank account. In 2017, the defendant began helping an elderly neighbour in Haverfordwest with tasks such as picking up shopping, and running errands, and he trusted her to use his bank cards. The following year, as the elderly man's condition deteriorated, the defendant took on more of a carer's role, performing tasks such as cleaning the house, doing washing, and preparing meals, a job for which it was agreed she should be paid. But the court heard the victim's daughters became doubtful about the amount of work the defendant was doing when they would visit their father's house. The defendant, of Heol Derwen, Haverfordwest.

Fiona Harwood, 50, stole nearly £100,000 from a widow in her eighties to fund a spending spree on clothes, a holiday and dating websites. She started out as a part-time cleaner for the victim but over a number of years she struck up a friendship with the woman and started siphoning off thousands of pounds from her accounts. By the time the fraud was discovered, the elderly woman had just £6,000 left in her account and had even amended her will to leave Harwood her house after her death. Harwood, of High Street in Neyland, Pembrokeshire, had been informally caring for the widow after the death of the pensioner's husband in 2016 and had been claiming a carer's allowance. Her fraud only came to light when the elderly woman obtained her bank statements to find four pages-worth of payments to Debenhams, Amazon, Next, Joules and even online dating sites. As well as using the victim’s card to go shopping, financial checks showed Harwood had withdrawn £18,676 from ATMs, and transferred £50,300 to her own account.

Christopher Tatton subjected three young girls to a campaign of sexual abuse spanning two decades during the 1980s and 1990s. His youngest victim was five years old. The abuse was not reported to police until two decades later. The first trial in September 2018 resulted in no verdict, but he was convicted at the retrial in February 2020. Victims reported long-term effects including anxiety, relationship issues, work and sleep problems.
Convicted of 23 counts of indecent assault after denying abuse and forcing victims to give evidence in two trials. Judge Paul Thomas QC commented on his twisted sexual urges and lack of compassion, noting profound psychological impact on victims.

Corey Goldup, 28, of Heol y Llwynau, Trebanos, used specialist software on his phone to covertly record video chats and communications on Snapchat, Kik, and Instagram with young females without their knowledge. Police identified five victims, including a female in Ireland and a girl in her mid-teens performing sex acts on herself. He was a member of a Discord group chat entitled “12 and under jailbait” sharing child abuse images. Officers recovered 980 Category A indecent pictures and videos (most serious, including rape), 160 Category B, 1,911 Category C, and 39 images of bestiality and extreme pornography. He continued downloading child sexual abuse images while on bail after initial arrest in June 2022.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of taking indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, three counts of distributing indecent images, and possession of extreme pornography. No previous convictions. Ordered to complete a rehabilitation course, registered sex offender for 10 years, subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. Sentenced by Judge Paul Thomas KC who noted delays in case, CPS charging decisions, and recent law change allowing suspension of sentences up to three years as factors avoiding immediate custody.
Christopher Haynes

Christopher Haynes, a former secondary school English teacher, conducted a sustained campaign of coercive control against his ex-wife during their marriage. He dictated who she could see, who could visit their home, and what music was played. He dismissed her work colleagues as below him, pressured her to give up her job, accused her of laziness while spending family money on expensive holidays and gifts. He threatened to have her killed via Freemasons connections, warning 'one call, one bullet'. Engaged in heavy drinking, creating a home life like walking on eggshells. When arrested, denied threats claiming he was besotted with her. Victim described love bombing, isolation, shattered confidence, family home as a prison.
Pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial. Received 10 per cent discount for guilty plea. Will serve up to half in custody before release on licence. Subject to a lifelong restraining order prohibiting contact with his former wife. No previous convictions. Judge Geraint Walters noted he had ruthlessly controlled and manipulated his former wife and effectively stole her identity.

On the evening of 18 April 2025, Brian Michael Nicol burst into the Ensign car sales garage on Carmarthen Road, Swansea, armed with a tyre iron. He accused a woman of spiking his wife, forced his way inside when she opened the door, threw her to the floor, struck her repeatedly, kicked and stamped on her. He then sat down accusing her before leaving. The victim sustained bruising, cuts and marks.

On July 10, 2025, police stopped a car in the Hafod area of Swansea driven by Mitford with Matthew Oliver in the front passenger seat. Search uncovered wraps of cocaine valued at up to £230 from the front passenger seat. Phones seized revealed messages connected to drug supply between the defendants.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Received one-quarter discount for pleas entered later. 12 previous convictions for 20 offences including possession of class A drug with intent to supply. Defence stated role as driver for Oliver on sporadic basis, paid in cocaine; remained drug-free for 14 years prior to relapse.

On April 28, 2024, Daniel Rogers and his partner were staying at an Airbnb in the Neath area after drinking. A verbal row escalated, with Rogers becoming aggressive, screaming in her face, grabbing her, throwing her onto the bed, and strangling her with both hands around her throat until she lost consciousness and could not breathe. She initially claimed consensual sexual activity but later disclosed the truth after another incident in August 2024. Recorder Greg Bull KC described his record for violence as appalling and noted strangulation is not permitted even with consent.
Pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation. Has 26 previous convictions for 27 offences, including battery of a former partner, assaulting emergency workers, assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the same victim, and sending threatening communications. On July 8, 2024, at lunchtime in Fuller's Row, Mount Pleasant, Swansea, police observed Ashton Banfield approaching an area known for drug dealing. As officers moved in, he fled, throwing a bag into a bush containing 29g of crack cocaine worth almost £2,900 and £445 cash. He burst into a stranger's open-fronted house, ran through it and out the back door, but was chased and detained. An additional £95 cash was found hidden in his sock. His mobile phone showed a bulk text sent that morning to 153 customers advertising various deal weights of crack. A search of his home in Rheidol Court, Clase, Swansea, uncovered cannabis.

On the night of Saturday, January 13, 2024, Abdul Shahid, pretending to be a taxi driver, targeted a heavily intoxicated vulnerable young woman near Swansea's High Street station after she became separated from her boyfriend. He followed her in his black Vauxhall car, enticed her inside, drove her to the Hafod area to disorientate her, then to the dark, isolated Wheatfield Terrace in Waun Wen (a known haunt of sex workers), where he sexually assaulted and raped her twice before driving her back to the city centre. His car was traced, leading to his arrest.
Convicted at trial of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. No previous convictions but two prior incidents of kerb crawling in 2020. Judge described it as a premeditated, planned act of stranger rape and deemed him a dangerous offender posing high risk to young females. Denied guilt and showed no remorse.

He was found carrying 28g of cocaine and £470 in cash. His phone contained evidence of involvement in cocaine supply, including messages about waiting to collect a delivery for onward distribution. A search of his home uncovered £1,620 in cash and $1,330 in US currency.

Further messages from a 2025 investigation linked him to supplying cocaine since 2024.

On 20 February 2025, police in Swansea observed a woman dealing drugs and she reported two men had moved into her home on Grandison Street in Hafod, coercing her. Officers found Jake Tipping there with wraps of heroin adulterated with medetomidine, £525 cash, and a constantly ringing mobile phone showing messages for supply of heroin and cocaine, recruiting workers, and links to a known drugs line. A search of his home in Cromwell Street, Mount Pleasant, Swansea, yielded cocaine. He answered no comment in interview. He was on licence from a 2021 five-year sentence when offending.

In the early hours of February 1, 2025, Mark Jones entered Swansea's Quadrant bus station, stared at passengers waiting for a coach to London, lay on the floor, pulled down his trousers, and pleasured himself for around 10 minutes. The incident was observed by passengers and a security guard monitoring CCTV. He refused to leave when told by the guard and continued. He fled when police arrived but was arrested shortly afterwards in St Mary's Square. At the police station, he expressed disgust at his actions but said he would continue if released.
Pleaded guilty to outraging public decency. Has 32 previous offences including multiple indecent assaults of children, exposure, and outraging public decency. Subject to a sexual harm prevention order imposed in Mold, which he has breached six times. Judge Huw Rees described the behaviour as 'filthy' in a public place and warned that future custodial sentences will get longer. Received one-third discount for guilty plea. In custody since arrest on February 1, 2025, and likely to be released on licence soon due to time on remand.
Luke Rogers

Luke Rogers, 40, of Wolfscastle, a registered sex offender previously convicted at Maidstone Crown Court for sexual activity with a teenage girl and subject to a sexual harm prevention order until 2031, applied for a job in February by lying to his employer that he had never been in trouble with the police for anything 'dodgy' and claiming a full driving licence despite only having a provisional one with six penalty points. He drove the company van on February 24 and 25 and was briefly left unsupervised with his employer's child. While driving with his boss, he ranted about paedophiles getting away with everything, prompting the employer to search his name online, uncover his past, dismiss him, and report to police. Rogers was arrested on March 12.
Pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Judge Geraint Walters noted repeated determination to breach court orders and a history of 19 previous convictions.

On October 23, 2025, in the early hours, Louise Blackwell, after drinking half a bottle of spirits and beer, deliberately drove her car into her friend on Margam Road in Port Talbot during an argument, throwing him 30ft. She left him gravely injured with facial injuries, double leg-break requiring metal rod, permanent limp, facial scarring, and deteriorating vision. She then tried to cover tracks by lying to her daughter about hitting an animal and getting car repaired. Charged with attempted murder (not guilty verdict entered) and convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Search uncovered wraps of cocaine valued at up to £230 from the front passenger seat. Phones seized revealed messages connected to drug supply between the defendants. Further investigation in January 2026 linked Oliver to cocaine supply; search of his home on January 27 recovered empty snap-seal bags.
Pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply and two counts of being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Received one-third discount for early pleas. Scott Mullen

Scott Mullen, 32, of Swallow Way, Duffryn, Newport, amassed a collection of 136 indecent films and photographs of children between July 14, 2024 and August 18, 2024, including 23 at category A (most serious). Found with a childlike sex doll. Initially admitted but tried to withdraw pleas using a fabricated report from a fake investigations firm, which was exposed. Judge Geraint Walters noted real children abused and pre-sentence report indicated high risk.
Pleaded guilty to possessing 136 indecent images of children (23 category A, 18 category B, 95 category C) and committing an act with intent to pervert the course of justice by producing a bogus report. Described as a dangerous offender posing high risk of further serious offending. Must register as a sex offender for life and subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life. Previous conviction for possessing indecent images in 2017.

In early 2024, police identified a county lines drug operation between London and south Wales. On April 19, 2024, officers intercepted a Volkswagen T-Cross driven by Stirton on the westbound M4 at Margam, with passenger Angelica Davey. Found 58 wraps of heroin and 147 wraps of cocaine worth £2,400, plus a burner phone and defendants' phones showing multiple trips between London and Swansea in March and April, bulk texts advertising drugs sent from Sarn Park services, and hotel bookings in Swansea.
Pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance. Has 13 previous convictions for 28 offences including wounding, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of cannabis. Judge Geraint Walters noted a dreadful criminal record involving criminal offending of the type associated with gangs. Started running the drugs line two weeks after release from prison in March 2024. One-third discount for guilty pleas applied. No separate penalties for driving matters. Will serve up to half in custody before release on licence.
Stephen Charles Tarling

On 17 March 2026 at around 2am, Stephen Charles Tarling broke into a house in Terrace Road, Mount Pleasant, Swansea, stealing a wallet, phone, batteries, Amazon Fire TV stick and a bottle of milk from the fridge. He was seen on video doorbell attempting to enter a nearby house in Penmaen Terrace earlier that night around 1am. Caught shortly after drinking from the milk bottle with stolen items in his bag.
Pleaded guilty to burglary and attempted burglary. In breach of previously suspended 24-week sentence which was activated consecutively. Judge Recorder Andrew Hammond noted ongoing risk to households due to entrenched drug addiction and rejected claims of remorse. 42 prior offences including multiple burglaries.
Ryan Whitehead
Possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of heroin with intent to supply *

In April 2024 following a road traffic collision in Blaenavon, emergency services found Whitehead sat in a crashed car sniffing nitrous oxide canisters. The defendant was arrested and searched; in his bum bag police found 56 individual wraps of crack cocaine and 30 wraps of heroin with a combined street value of almost £4,000 while in his pockets was some £273 in cash. Police also recovered a Nokia burner phone containing messages relating to the supply of class A drugs including 'text bombs' saying 'Get your orders in' and one sent on the morning of his arrest saying 'Active from 8.30. Drops. Both'.
That conviction followed a road traffic collision in Blaenavon the previous month.
Saif Ali

On October 27, 2024, police stopped Saif Ali's white Ford Fiesta exiting Gore Terrace in Swansea at speed due to strong smell of cannabis. Search found 79g cannabis in 16 bags, £765 cash, 7.3g cocaine, and blister packs of tablets in the car; Ali had four 0.5g bags of cocaine on him. Home search uncovered scales with white residue, £300 cash, and small bags of white powder. Phone showed messages relating to drug supply.
Pleaded guilty. One-third discount applied. 28 months for cocaine offence and 6 months for cannabis offence to run concurrently. Two prior convictions for theft and aggravated vehicle-taking as a youth. Barrister cited low wages as railway cleaner leading to drug dealing to pay bills and help parents. Judge noted stable background, brought shame on family, called cocaine a pernicious drug warranting immediate prison.
