Bovic Mupolo stabbed Macaulay Byrne during a fight in the car park of the Gypsy Queen pub in Beighton, Sheffield, on Boxing Day 2021. The incident erupted suddenly near the pub door, possibly sparked by a racial slur or provocation. Mupolo used a knife he was carrying, inflicting a fatal wound. Byrne entered the pub, collapsed, and was taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital where he died. Mupolo stayed briefly at the scene before fleeing with friend Layton Morris, who was acquitted of assisting an offender. They changed clothes and went to Sheffield city centre. Witnesses, including the pub landlady Susan Campbell, described the bloody scene and chaos.

Officers intercepted the van he was driving on the A56 Chester Road in Manchester and found blocks containing approximately two kilos of cocaine and £150,000 in cash hidden in a void in the floor of the vehicle. The drugs would have had a street value of almost £160,000 if cut and sold on the streets.

Pawel Relowicz followed Libby Squire, a 21-year-old Hull University philosophy student, as she attempted to find her way home in a drunk and confused state in the early hours of 1 February 2019. He lured her into his car before driving to a playing field where he raped and murdered her. Relowicz then dumped her body in the River Hull, where it was found in the Humber Estuary nearly seven weeks later. He was arrested after detectives reviewed CCTV footage showing his car in the area. Pathologists could not determine the exact cause of death, but circumstantial evidence linked him to the crime. During the trial, he provided five versions of events to police and claimed consensual sex to the jury.
Convicted by a jury on Thursday following 28 hours of deliberations. Admitted to a series of sexual offences including voyeurism and stealing intimate items in the months prior. Found guilty of rape unanimously and murder by a majority of 11 to 1.

During an annual party at his home in Sproatley, near Hull in East Yorkshire, in July 2018, Albert Grannon, 78, allowed his six-year-old great-grandson Stanley Metcalf to see his modified .22 calibre air rifle, which was stored loaded in a cupboard for shooting vermin. Grannon had adapted the gun to make it more powerful without holding a firearms licence. Inside the house, Grannon pointed the gun directly at Stanley to check if it was loaded and accidentally discharged it into the boy's abdomen, causing a penetrating injury that damaged his bowel and a major artery, leading to massive blood loss and cardiac arrest. Stanley died two hours later in hospital. Initially, Grannon claimed the pellet ricocheted off the floor, but expert analysis confirmed a direct shot.
Admitted manslaughter and possessing an adapted pellet gun without a firearms licence. Judge noted he ended a young life and brought lifelong grief to the family. Grannon blamed himself totally and accepted pointing the gun directly at the boy to check if it was loaded, but not deliberately.

On April 1, 2021, he committed dangerous driving by sparking a police pursuit on a motorcycle in the Manor area of Sheffield, driving the wrong way down a one-way system, at speed on City Road, and on a footpath before discarding the bike. He was also in breach of a prior suspended sentence for possessing class A drugs with intent to supply. He has previous convictions, mental health issues including PTSD from being stabbed, and had smoked cannabis prior to the rape.

He was one of six men sentenced for involvement in the systematic sexual exploitation and abuse of vulnerable teenagers in Rotherham. Yousaf and his associates, all of British Pakistani heritage, groomed the girls using alcohol, drugs, and false promises of friendship, leading to violent sexual acts including gang rapes. In one incident, Yousaf, alongside Nabeel Kurshid and another offender, provided cannabis to a 14-year-old girl before driving her to Sherwood Forest where they took turns raping her, threatening to leave her stranded if she did not comply. Assaults occurred across Rotherham sites like Clifton Park, a Rawmarsh tip, and Ulley Country Park. The case emerged from Operation Stovewood, the NCA's probe into child sexual abuse in Rotherham.
Found guilty of two counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault. Judge Sarah Wright condemned the group: 'Each in your own way perpetrated, facilitated or encouraged the sexual abuse of these young girls. You can have been in no doubt that the complainants were vulnerable in the extreme.' The NCA stated: 'They used violence and intimidation and believed they were untouchable by law enforcement.'

He isolated her from friends and family, prevented her from sleeping, threw her out of her accommodation and refused re-entry. He stalked her, bombarded her with unwanted contact, followed her, and drove dangerously close to her car, causing fear. He also made repeated threats against her and any future partners. The abuse included controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and stalking.
Judge described harm as 'incalculable and inexcusable'. Staniforth also received a restraining order banning contact with the victim. He had previously received a community order for similar but less serious offending, but failed to tell magistrates about the latest proceedings.

On December 20, 2019, while employed as a court security guard at Leeds Magistrates’ Court, Jack Henderson attacked a defendant in his cell after the victim blocked his toilet and flooded the cell. Henderson threw the victim to the floor, punched him multiple times to the face (including after pulling his arms away when he tried to cover his face), held him against the wall and punched him further. The victim was knocked unconscious and required hospital treatment for two to three days for injuries including bilateral periorbital wounds and bruising. Henderson was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on September 5, 2023.

He engaged in numerous conversations about sex between February 4 and March 7, 2018, sent three explicit videos of himself, and attempted to persuade the 'girl' to engage in sexual activity and send explicit pictures. He pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity and attempting to cause a child under 16 to watch a sex act.
Pleaded guilty to four sex offences. Placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years. Facing deportation upon release.

He was arrested in June 2025 but after release contacted her again to pressure her to change her statement. He later pleaded guilty.

Hadrian Hartley, 52, was visited by police at his bail hostel accommodation in Rotherham on 12 January 2026, just weeks after his release from a 12-month prison sentence for a previous breach. Officers discovered a mobile phone protected by a VPN, which Hartley admitted he had installed to access restricted areas of the internet. A forensic examination revealed category A videos depicting a girl believed to be around 14 years old, along with several category B and C indecent images. The offences were committed while he was subject to post-sentence supervision.
Pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. Judge Graham Reeds KC noted the defendant's lack of personal responsibility and history of repeated offending. Hamza Hussain, 23, of Harney Close in Darnall, was driving a black VW Golf which crashed on the A61 St Mary's Gate roundabout at 01:55 BST on 17 June 2024. The front-seat passenger, 18-year-old Mohammed Waheed, died in hospital and the 15-year-old rear passenger suffered life-changing injuries. Hussain had been driving at 61mph in a 40mph zone and at 49mph before entering the roundabout. He fled the scene leaving his friends injured and later lied about his involvement before handing himself in the following morning.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without insurance. Judge noted he was an inexperienced driver going too fast, fled the scene, lied about being the driver and his injuries. Also disqualified from driving for 7 years and 8 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

Bradley Bennett, 32, of Ridgill Avenue in Doncaster, checked into the Holiday Inn Express in Balby under a fake name on 25 January due to paranoia. On 26 January he barricaded his hotel room door with a mattress, set the mattress and other items alight during a drug-induced psychotic episode, shouted for help and jumped from the window. He was arrested nearby. The fire caused £174,000 in damage plus over £50,000 in ongoing losses from closure. He had sought psychiatric help previously and had no prior similar convictions.
Pleaded guilty to arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. On licence at time of offence. Psychiatric report indicated likely ADHD and maladaptive personality disorder. Judge noted risk to multiple people present and high economic impact.
