Found guilty of preparing to commit acts of terrorism after a five-week retrial. Judge Paul Watson QC noted Salah posed a significant risk of serious harm to the public and had viewed depraved imagery. Possible deportation at the end of sentence.
Levi Fishlock

On 4 August 2024, Levi Fishlock, aged 31 from Sheffield Road in Barnsley, participated in riots outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham, used for asylum seekers. Wearing a distinctive purple England football shirt with 'Bellingham' on the back, he added planks of wood to a wheelie bin fire next to the hotel, helped build and set fire to barricades, threw bricks and paving slabs at windows, destroyed fencing and an air-conditioning unit, made threatening gestures with a sharp object towards asylum seekers inside, and later attacked police vehicles with rocks. Over 200 asylum seekers were trapped upstairs as the rioters intended to endanger lives. Hotel staff barricaded themselves in a panic room fearing death from smoke. After arrest, he admitted knowing why he was detained and called it 'for a good cause'. The violence injured 64 police officers, three horses, and a dog.
Pleaded guilty to violent disorder, arson with intent to endanger life, and possession of an offensive weapon. Judge Jeremy Richardson KC described the case as one of the worst he had dealt with. In mitigation, experienced anxiety, depression, and drug issues; has a young daughter.

Offences committed between April 2003 and April 2008 as part of Operation Stovewood investigation.

Lee Grant, aged 45, of Junction Road, Stainforth, was convicted of 10 sexual offences, including two counts of rape of a girl aged 13 to 15, five counts of sexually assaulting a woman, one count of raping a woman, and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14. Some offences occurred between 1993 and 1995 and in the early 2000s, with others in the past five years. Victims came forward after one reported the crimes, resulting in a complex investigation.
Pleaded not guilty, leading to a three-week trial where he was found guilty of 10 out of 11 offences. The bravery of victims led to the investigation.

On 22 March 2024, Michael Donaldson, 56, accosted Ed Miliband MP on a street in Doncaster and shouted death threats at him and his two members of staff. The MP and staff were left shaken and quickly left the area. Donaldson was arrested later that day and continued to make offensive comments about the MP.
Pleaded guilty to one count of making threats to kill. Appeared intoxicated and behaved erratically. Tried to play down the incident as a joke.
Peter Lynch

Peter Lynch was at the front of a mob that gathered outside the Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham on August 4, 2024, housing asylum seekers. He shouted 'scum' and 'child killers' at police, screamed 'you are protecting people who are killing our kids and raping them', and 'protect my children'. He held a placard asserting corruption of MPs, judges, the media, and police. Body-worn camera footage showed him challenging officers as they pushed him back with shields. The rioting left 64 police officers injured, as well as four dogs and a horse.
Judge Jeremy Richardson KC noted that he did not attack any police officer but encouraged others to behave violently by his conduct as part of the mob. Suffered from diabetes, thyroid issues, angina, and had recently had a heart attack.
Peter Beard

Peter Beard, 43, of Becknoll Road, Brampton Bierlow, Rotherham, participated in unrest outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham, on August 4, 2024, where attempts were made to storm the building and set it on fire, injuring 58 police officers, three police horses and a police dog. He pushed aggressively at the line of officers.
Admitted pushing aggressively at the line of officers. Former soldier who served in Kosovo, Bosnia and Northern Ireland. Judge Jeremy Richardson KC described his conduct as shameful, disgraceful and astonishing, noting his prior experience as a peacekeeper.
Michael Whitehead

Michael Whitehead (27) shouted ‘You’re not fit to wear the badge’ at police officers and chanted to the mob ‘Let’s go fxxxxxx mental, Let’s go fxxxxxx mental’ during the disorder at the Holiday Inn Rotherham.
Pleaded guilty to violent disorder. A ten year criminal behaviour order was imposed.
