The fraud was discovered after the woman moved full-time into a care home in Newark, where she was warned that her funds were depleted and she would need council support. Jenkins claimed the payments were mutually agreed loans to be repaid in instalments, but investigators found this unrealistic given the amounts and her age. Some repayments were made, but not sufficient.
