Although no drugs were found on him, further searches in the nearby woodland area near a play park revealed large amounts of crack cocaine discarded under a tree, where Beckford had walked from moments earlier. He broke into an 89-year-old woman's home on June 14, standing by her wardrobe and threatening her. He entered an 85-year-old woman's home and pulled back her shower curtain while she was washing. Arrested living in a tent in the Lady Bay and West Bridgford area.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of trespass with intent to commit voyeurism, burglary and breaching the sex offender register. Judge Stuart Rafferty KC commented on his difficult childhood but stated it was no excuse. 19 previous convictions for 42 offences, including a 2015 10-year sentence for sexual assault. He was aware of her age when he started talking to her online and engaged her in conversations of a sexual nature anyway. He met the child at his address several times and sexually abused her on each occasion. During this time, he was also engaging in other sexual conversations online, including with a decoy account set up by an online child activist group, which led to his arrest. The extent of his crimes became apparent due to the bravery of his victim in disclosing what happened.
Pleaded guilty to seven counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and both engaging and attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child. Placed on the sex offenders' register for life. Subject to a 10-year restraining order banning contact with the victim and a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.

He got in their faces, jumped up and down aggressively, followed them while shouting ‘do you know who I am?’, punched the man in the face knocking him unconscious, inflicted a running kick to the man’s head while he was defenceless, and also assaulted the woman before removing his shirt and storming off. The man suffered several facial fractures. Briggs-Price was arrested minutes later walking through the town centre topless.

He was arrested in November 2025 and has been in custody since.

Andrew Gray, a 43-year-old dad-of-two from Abercarn Way, Bulwell, assaulted a woman in her Nottingham home. On May 30, 2025, after an argument following her return from a memorial service, Gray grabbed her by the hair, pulled her around, smashed her head against the bedroom wall, pushed her to the floor, stamped on her ribs and face, causing her to lose consciousness. He refused to let her go to hospital, used Sellotape on her wounds, and told her to keep the attack secret. On June 30, 2025, after drinking vodka, he kicked her several times in the stomach and face during another argument. The victim reported constant nightmares, fear like facing 'the Incredible Hulk', and is seeking safe housing through Nottingham City Council. Gray had recently been released from a six-year sentence for a 2018 robbery where he threatened a woman with a machete in her home in front of her child.
Admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. Judge Philip Head noted that most of his violence is due to alcohol abuse and described the attacks as a gross abuse of the victim's hospitality. Also handed a three-and-a-half-year restraining order. Has 45 previous offences including a 2018 machete robbery and two other domestic violence incidents.

On December 12, 2024, Colin Longbottom, 63, of Woodhouse Road, Wakefield, was driving a lorry on the A46 northbound near East Bridgford. His vehicle had broken down, and Daniel Loft, 37, of Bingham, had exited his flatbed truck via the passenger side. Longbottom was using the built-in touch screen to turn off fog lights, failing to pay attention to the road, with his eyes off the road for approximately four seconds prior to the collision. The lorry crashed into the stationary vehicle, striking Danny and causing serious head injuries. Danny was treated in intensive care for 18 days at Queen’s Medical Centre but died on December 30, 2024. Police investigation revealed Longbottom had used his mobile phone minutes before to send Facebook messages and make calls, though not at the exact time of the crash. Internal cab CCTV captured him looking down for prolonged periods.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving on January 6. Disqualified from driving for 5 years. Judge Rupert Mayo commented on the tragic nature of the case and the defendant's failure to observe the hazard due to eyes off the road for at least four seconds.

In July 2025, Jon Ruben, a 76-year-old former vet from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, ran a Christian summer camp at Stathern Lodge in Leicestershire. He laced sweets with sedatives purchased online and tricked young boys into eating them through a 'sweet game' offering prizes for eating quickest. While the boys were heavily asleep in their dormitory, he sexually abused selected individuals. The sedatives were more powerful than intended, leaving victims drowsy, nauseous, and disorientated. Concerns raised by volunteers led to discovery of syringes and drugs in his possessions by a relative. Affected children were hospitalised, Ruben arrested, and indecent images plus evidence of procuring drugs and attempting to join an online paedophile network found on his devices. He also admitted drugging his wife, a camp volunteer, to avoid detection.
Pleaded guilty to multiple offences including assault of a child under 13 by penetration (2 counts), sexual assault of a child under 13 (2 counts), cruelty to a person under 16 (8 counts), making indecent photos of children (3 counts), acquiring possession of dutiable goods with fraudulent intent, possession of a controlled drug class C (3 counts), and administering a poison or noxious substance with intent. Found to represent a danger to the public.

Simon Mchugh

On May 5, 2025, Simon McHugh tied up a woman and child at an address in Ripley, Derbyshire, using a dressing gown cord and tape, before leaving. On May 6, 2025, he travelled to Nottingham, where he stabbed driver Adam Suleman over 50 times in a frenzied attack inside and outside a moving car on Westdale Lane, Carlton, causing the vehicle to crash into a wall near the Co-op. McHugh told Suleman 'you know you’re going to die today' before the assault. He then fled, broke into a couple's home in Burton Joyce, and admitted to doing something bad. Suleman survived after multiple operations at QMC, suffering profound impacts including flashbacks and difficulty with daily tasks.
Pleaded guilty to attempted murder, burglary, and false imprisonment. Judge Mark Watson noted the frenzied and sustained attack with no apparent motive. Has 12 previous convictions for 25 offences. Described as a model prisoner since remand.

Fred Matthew, aged 49, of Chalfont Drive, Aspley, Nottingham, subjected his ex-partner to emotional and physical abuse for over eight years, including violence while she was pregnant. He treated her with absolute contempt, almost making her a prisoner in her own home by monitoring her movements via mobile tracking apps and CCTV. In August 2025, he strangled her with both hands after she received a call from her sister, shaking her by the neck and causing her to struggle to breathe. He threatened to 'chop up' her father and to pay someone to set fire to her sister's house. After the relationship ended, he bombarded her with messages, calls, and voice notes. Arrested in March 2025 after returning from Iraq via Heathrow Airport, he breached bail conditions by continuing contact and attempted further contact from custody.
Pleaded guilty to engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour and intentional strangulation. Judge Stuart Rafferty KC described him as a 'monster' created by refusing mental health medication and abusing drugs and alcohol. Subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.

Nicoli Fruntasi, part of an organised crime group, stole more than £14,000 worth of perfume from Boots stores across the UK, including in Stoke-on-Trent, Sheffield Meadowhall, Nottingham, Harrogate, Leeds, Kings Lynn, Boston, Worksop, and Cheltenham, during a seven-month crime spree starting on May 29, 2025. The group targeted high-value items, with at least 126 individual items of perfume taken, most not recovered. He was arrested at the scene of the final theft in Worksop on December 12, 2025. Police believe at least 10 others are involved.

On June 3, 2025, officers spotted Jerome Gibson riding a high-powered electric bike while wearing ski goggles and a balaclava near a group of drug users in Radford, Nottingham. He fled on foot and shoulder barged a police officer on Hucknall Road, causing serious injury requiring surgery. Gibson, aged 22 and of no fixed abode, evaded capture by fleeing into a property and leaving the area, but was later tracked to Bilborough where he attempted to escape by jumping from a window before being detained. Additionally, on May 8, 2024, in Langwith Junction, Derbyshire, he threatened two people with a knife and vandalised their property.

He arrived on CCTV with bolt croppers, selected specific bikes by riding up and down, snapped the locks, and rode off on the stolen bikes, leaving his own behind on at least one occasion. Victims included students, a professor, and a hospital worker. None of the bikes, valued at £2,980, were recovered.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of theft. 19 previous court appearances for 42 offences, many for similar bike thefts. Was on a suspended sentence and bail at the time. Judge noted he targeted expensive bikes over seven months, total value £2,980, and that he now has accommodation and has not offended in the past 14 months.

Mujeebullah Khan dishonestly applied for and obtained a £50,000 Government Covid Bounce Back Loan on May 7, 2020, claiming his business Chunky Chicken had a turnover of £250,000 and intended to use the loan to support it. However, he had sold the business in 2019. The loan was approved on May 15, 2020, and on July 14, 2020, he transferred the funds to a relative to repay a prior loan used to start the business in 2016. He was interviewed on June 15, 2021, and initially denied dishonest intent.
Pleaded guilty to fraud. No previous convictions. Has repaid the full loan amount. Judge noted the scheme relied on trust and honesty, and the defendant's actions affected public confidence.
Jordan Bazuna

Jordan Bazuna, 20, of Constance Street, New Basford, was caught with a 17-inch machete during a police chase in Hyson Green on May 8, 2025. He pulled the blade from his waistband and told the pursuing officer to 'get back' before discarding it. Wraps of heroin were found in a discarded man bag and seven more in his underwear during a strip-search. His home search revealed traces of heroin, cocaine, and cutting agents, along with drill lyrics linking to drug supply and gangs. He admitted the group made £1,000 per day dealing drugs. This followed a prior 16-month sentence in 2024 for participating in a city centre gang fight with machetes.
Pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, and breaching licence conditions. Judge Steven Coupland commented on the glamourisation of drugs and knives in drill lyrics and noted the defendant's prior conviction and personal experience of being stabbed.

Thomas Dear, 20, hurled a brick through his father Thomas Dear Senior's open van window in Newark, Nottinghamshire in June 2025, striking his head. The pair had been captured on CCTV in a prolonged argument, during which the son threw pieces of a broken plant pot at his father, and Dear Senior approached wielding a garden fork. Dear Senior drove away after the blow but suffered a cardiac arrest at the roadside and died at the scene. A post-mortem linked the head injury to the cardiac seizure.
Pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Claimed self-defence. Will serve sentence at a young offenders’ institution.
Paul Davis

Paul Davis sexually assaulted three girls on multiple occasions at locations across Nottinghamshire between 2017 and 2020. The victims bravely reported the abuse, leading to his arrest.
