Hamilton, from Bristol, was visiting family in the area and was last seen walking from the bus station in Blackwood. Police traced the vehicle by examining tiny pieces of plastic at the scene.

Despite this she took the woman's card and withdrew funds over a six month period. The fraud came to light when another carer noticed there was a lack of food or heating in the victim's home and when her bank statements were checked, there had been a number of withdrawals from her account. The defendant, of Hillside Avenue, Blaenavon, was seen on CCTV footage using the victim's card to withdraw money from her account from a cash machine at an Abergavenny garage.

He was in possession of £454, and a mobile phone containing messages about the supply of Class A drugs was found in the car. A blue package containing numerous wraps of Class A drugs was found close to the car, and further items linked to drug dealing such as tick lists, digital scales, white powder, seal bags, and mobile phones were seized from their home addresses.

The thefts only came to light when the family of one of the victims noticed withdrawals from her account which she could not have carried out, and alerted the firm carer Jasmine Black worked for. Police were then contacted, but the defendant denied doing anything wrong - despite the log-in details for one of her client's bank account being found at her home. The defendant, of Clos Tyniad Glo, Barry, transferred money from her clients' accounts to her own in a series of payments - in total she stole £1,999 from one victim, and £476 from the other.

Braddon, who was on probation for drugs offences and assaulting a police officer at the time and had previous convictions for domestic abuse, hit Conner with a pole, kicked him in the face and ribs, stripped him naked to humiliate him, delivered an uppercut that caused him to strike his head on concrete, and left him to die under a caravan. Conner, who had been enjoying an evening with friends and went for a walk along the beach to take pictures, was discovered the next morning with severe head injuries, taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff in a coma suffering from hypothermia, brain swelling, eye haemorrhage, and a forehead cut, and died four days later on March 12, 2015.

He admitted some counts but denied sexual assault charges, leading to a four-day trial at Cardiff Crown Court where he was convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault. The investigation was conducted by South Wales Police and the Central BCU Child Abuse Investigation Unit after the victim spoke out.

Jeffrey Davies, a 45-year-old former detective with South Wales Police from Aberdare, was convicted of raping two women in 2002 and 2003 while serving in the Rhondda Valley. In 2002, he raped a woman on Bwlch mountain in Rhondda Cynon Taff after meeting her through his police work and deceiving her by claiming he was taking her to a police station, instead driving her to an isolated location where he assaulted her, telling her during the attack that it 'would make her feel better'. The second rape occurred in 2003 when he attacked another woman in her own home. Both victims remained silent for over a decade, fearing they would not be believed due to his position of authority, and came forward after learning of his 2013 conviction and imprisonment for separate sexual assaults on other women. Davies was dismissed from South Wales Police in 2013 following those earlier convictions.

Lynette White was murdered in a flat at 7 James Street, Butetown, Cardiff, Wales on 14 February 1988. Her throat was cut from the right ear across the front and around to the left side of the neck, exposing the spine bones. She suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, breasts, face, stomach, arms, wrists, inner thighs, and defensive wounds on her hands, totalling 69 injuries. The pathologist described it as a mutilating attack with sexual overtones. Death caused by throat injury, time between midnight and 4am. Killer identified via advanced DNA profiling from crime scene traces.
Pleaded guilty. DNA evidence from crime scene matched. Confessed to the murder. Shorter tariff due to guilty plea compared to wrongfully convicted men.
Jaylin Foley

Jaylin Foley was involved in a crack cocaine supply chain. Officers found 66 grams of crack cocaine with street value £4,000 at his home, along with £180 in cash. On March 8, he drove a Kia Niro lent by a vulnerable man, despite having no driving licence or insurance. When police tried to stop him, he reversed into a police car and sped away, reaching 90mph in 30mph zones, driving on the wrong side, running red lights, and going the wrong way around a roundabout. He struck a car driven by a 17-year-old learner driver on Corporation Road, leaving the teenager petrified and the car damaged, then fled. He was later arrested at home. He had recently become a father.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, possession of criminal property, and driving without a licence or insurance. No previous convictions. A three-year driving ban was also imposed.
Ieuan Woodyatt
Controlling and coercive behaviour *

Between January 1 and April 19, 2025, Ieuan Woodyatt subjected his then-partner to repeated physical and verbal abuse including strangling her, spitting at her, making threats to kill her, throwing a vape at her, and threatening to destroy her car and have someone smash her face in. He also sent threatening messages to the victim and her family. Woodyatt additionally admitted to further offences committed on July 29, 2025 in Blaenavon against other victims. He was sentenced to 25 months for the domestic abuse offences and a further eight months consecutively for the Blaenavon matters.
Pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship and harassment. Also pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating, three counts of criminal damage, threatening to destroy property, public disorder, and possession of cannabis. Had 14 previous convictions for 29 offences. Recorder Greg Bull KC noted history of violent behaviour. Also subject to five-year restraining orders and victim surcharge.
Ian Watkins

Ian Watkins pleaded guilty to 11 sex offence-related charges, including the attempted rape of a fan’s 11-month-old baby, sexually touching a one-year-old child, and encouraging a fan to abuse her own child during a webcam chat. He had used his power over fans to exploit them and persuaded two women to help satisfy his desires. Child abuse images were found on his computer during a 2012 arrest for drug charges.
Pleaded guilty to 11 charges on 26 November 2013 ahead of trial. Described by Mr Justice Royce as a deeply corrupting influence, highly manipulative, sexual predator and dangerous. Appeal against sentence refused in 2014.

On the night of 9 August 2025, Jack Mew of Willow Road, Gurnos, Merthyr, participated with brother Rhys Mew and Garyn Marshall-Palmer in chasing rival drug dealer Craig Harris on the Gurnos housing estate before Rhys fired a 9mm handgun amid an ongoing drugs feud.
Pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of ammunition without a licence. No previous convictions. Was in a bad place using controlled drugs but has detoxed on remand and expressed remorse.
Jack Purnell

Jack Purnell, a 22-year-old mechanic of Alexandra Place, Newbridge, Caerphilly, had more than 100 indecent images of children (including babies as young as one) discovered in a locked folder titled “young” on his mobile phone. Officers executed a search warrant at his address on 17 April 2025. The images spanned all three categories of severity and depicted girls aged between one and 13 being sexually abused. The offending occurred over approximately 18 months. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Thursday at Cardiff Crown Court.
Admitted three counts of making indecent images of children. No previous convictions. Also subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, 225 hours unpaid work and a five-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Jack Roberts raped a teenager on Hinter Path, Cwmbran, Torfaen, NP44, in March 2020. He pinned his victim down during the attack and told the terrified young woman not to report the incident to family members or police. The victim suffered severe anxiety, depression, sleep issues, panic attacks, discomfort around males, and had to abandon her studies.
Denied rape but convicted by jury at trial. No previous convictions. Judge noted he cared only for his own selfish sexual desires, showed little remorse, and behaved manipulatively after the offence. Defence stated he had matured since the incident and provided character references describing him as good and kind.
Jack Liam Carroll

Jack Liam Carroll, a 27-year-old man from Caerau, Cardiff, was convicted of one count of rape, three counts of assault by penetration, and five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a single victim. The offences were domestic violence-related and the court described Carroll as a high-risk individual to women. The victim read her personal statement aloud in court. Carroll denied all charges but was found guilty. The investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Shannon Walker of South Wales Police. In addition to the custodial sentence, he received an extended licence of four years, must serve two-thirds before parole eligibility, and was given an indefinite restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.
