Fabio Marzano assaulted a woman at her home in the Eastfield area of Peterborough on February 7, 2023, by punching her in the face and strangling her until she could not breathe. A neighbour intervened, leading Marzano to attack him, then another man, whom he headbutted multiple times, dragged to the floor, and bit on the ear while threatening to bite it off. He also kicked police officers during his arrest at the scene and later at Thorpe Wood Police Station. On March 6, 2024, while on court bail, he visited another woman's property in Westwood, Peterborough, refused to leave, and assaulted her by repeatedly headbutting her, causing her to fall and sustain a large swelling to her eye socket, a cut to her chin and the back of her head, and significant bruising.

Admitted to intentional strangulation, three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker. DC Igor Simonov described him as a persistently violent individual who thinks nothing of launching savage attacks on innocent people.

Bradley Breen, 24, was seen throwing a bag containing crack cocaine and heroin out of his bedroom window when police arrived at his home in Welbourne, Peterborough, just after 5am on March 13. Police found crack cocaine and heroin worth almost £2,500, £1,235 in cash, and evidence of drug dealing on his phone. They also seized six large canisters of nitrous oxide. This arrest was part of Operation Hypernova 3, a force-wide investigation targeting county lines drug dealers.

Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, possession of criminal property and possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation. Detective Sergeant Martyn Willi noted that Breen was operating the 'Grisby' county line, selling class A drugs across Peterborough.

Mohammed Mustafa, of Gladstone Street, Peterborough, attacked his friend with a knife after a conversation about demons and black magic. The incident occurred in the early evening of Wednesday, December 20, 2023, when Mustafa accused his friend of performing black magic on him. He struck his friend in the face, knocking him to the ground, and a scuffle ensued, resulting in deep cuts to the victim's hands and face. Daryl Stevenson, 37, of East Road, Cambridge, entered John Lewis in Downing Street, Cambridge on 5 June, picked up a bottle of rum worth £29, and attempted to leave without paying. He was confronted by shop staff, ran out, and threw a pen which narrowly missed their head. He was also involved in other thefts, including stealing 20 shirts worth £300 from Hollister in the Grand Arcade, Cambridge on 31 May, a bottle of Captain Morgan rum worth £24 from Sainsburys in Mill View, March on 10 June, and two sausage sandwiches worth £7.98 from Costa Coffee in High Street, March on 10 June. He was arrested on 10 June and sentenced for these offences.

He also sent abusive messages and damaged her clothes and belongings. The incidents occurred over an extended period, involving physical and emotional violence.

Pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, intentional suffocation, actual bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of a bladed article. Detective Constable Dalton Shailes commended the victim for her bravery and noted that coercive and controlling behaviour is a criminal offence.

Being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis

Dominic Bevilacqua, a 23-year-old county lines drug dealer, supplied class A drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, between Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. He was arrested on 13 February during a dawn warrant at his property in Broadway, Crowland, where police found three mobile phones linked to the 'Dom' drugs line and 16 cannabis plants with a street value of up to £13,000. Bevilacqua sent hundreds of messages to vulnerable drug users advertising drugs for sale and profited from the transactions. He also committed three assaults by beating, possessed an offensive weapon in a public place, and attempted to pervert the course of justice.

Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, production of cannabis, three counts of assault by beating, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and committing an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice. Tom Adams, a 51-year-old lorry driver from Creech St Michael, Taunton, Somerset, attacked a man in Maxwell Road, Peterborough, in April 2023. He became aggressive after noticing the man filming lorries, including his own, which he believed created a dangerous situation. Adams retrieved a ratchet from his lorry cab, approached the victim despite attempts to push him away, and struck the victim twice on the back of the head, causing deep lacerations and serious head injuries. The victim called the police, leading to Adams' immediate arrest, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Burglary

Archie Crompton, 19, formerly of Ingram Street, Huntingdon, broke into a property in Barkhams Lane, Littleport, on October 9, smashing the glass on patio doors and scattering items before stealing a front door key. Later that day, at about 11.25am, he broke into another property in Orchard Row, Soham, with two other men, smashing a window, scattering items, and stealing jewellery and £1,000 in cash. Additionally, a week earlier, he failed to pay for fuel at a petrol station in Bar Hill, and on October 18, he stole a dent puller worth £41.99 from Machine Mart in Bolton. He was captured on CCTV for all offences.

Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, making off without payment, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and theft. DC Lisa Bacon commented on the significant distress caused to the victims due to the psychological and financial impact.

Officers pursued him until he reached the High Street, where another crew deployed a stinger to stop him. He was arrested and failed to provide a breath specimen both at the roadside and in custody.

Admitted to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and driving without insurance. PC Alan Stanford described his behaviour as completely irresponsible and noted that nobody was injured.

Assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent

She begged for money and, when refused, grabbed the victim's arm and snatched a £20 note. A tussle followed, during which the victim pursued Hall and shouted for the money back. Hall became aggressive, forcing the victim to retreat to the safety of the shop. Police were called, tracked Hall using descriptions as she was known for begging outside the shop, and found her nearby with tobacco she had bought using the stolen money.

Admitted robbery at an earlier hearing. Detective Constable Pete Wise commented that the sentence should give Hall a chance to reflect on her actions and that it was a frightening incident for the victim, who suffered scratches and an injured thumb.

Causing serious injury by careless driving

Sentence: 9 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for 1 year and 4 months

David Feast was driving in Clayhithe Road, Horningsea, near Cambridge, in the early hours of November 23, 2023, when he crashed into a motorcyclist, causing serious injuries including a fractured knee, arm, and pelvis. He drove off from the scene, leaving the injured man on the ground at night, and later claimed he thought he had hit a deer. Police found his number plate at the scene and his damaged car near his home in Doddington.

Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving. Detective Constable Valentin Radulescu noted that Feast fled the scene and failed to report the collision.

Supply of Class B Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply Cocaine and Heroin

On December 24, at a property in Thomas King Drive, Huntingdon, Tony Meenan became violent during an argument with his mother. He punched holes in a wall, grabbed kitchen knives, pinned her against a wall with a knife above his head, and threatened to kill her. A relative managed to take the knife from him, and he fled but was arrested after returning to the property.

Pleaded guilty to threats to kill and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a private place. Also admitted racially abusing a police officer but received no separate penalty. DC Maria Cale described his behaviour as deplorable and highlighted the seriousness of domestic abuse as a force priority.

Ricky Homer stole steak, pasta, and alcohol from Marks and Spencer and Aldi in Huntingdon, and Co-Op in Great North Road, St Neots, on four occasions between January 24 and March 1, 2024. He was also captured on CCTV interfering with a black Volvo in Priory Road, St Neots, and trying door handles of cars in Hawkesford Way, St Neots, on March 3, 2024. He had previous convictions and was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order.

Pleaded guilty to four counts of shoplifting, two counts of vehicle interference, handling stolen goods, and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order. He had a prior Criminal Behaviour Order from September 2023, and police noted his prolific criminal history.

Leroy Owen, 41, from Peterborough with no fixed abode, set his former partner's home on fire after an argument. On December 5, 2023, he arrived at her home in Paston around 8.30pm, attempted to reconcile, became verbally abusive when rejected, and left. He later followed her to and from a supermarket. Around 1.10am on December 6, 2023, he deliberately started a blaze at the electric meter box, causing smoke and flames. Firefighters rescued the victim and her cats, and the fire spread to the neighbouring house, resulting in significant damage. The victim was treated for smoke inhalation and shock.

Pleaded guilty to arson. DC Lizzy Aspland commented that Owen's actions were incredibly dangerous and reckless, and praised the firefighters and victim's courage.

Assault by penetration

Jordan Wade, 28, of Mendip Grove, Peterborough, sexually assaulted a woman while she was sleeping in her home on February 3, 2021. At around 9pm, he woke her by inappropriately touching her, and when confronted, he admitted he had been doing so for 10 minutes. He left the scene, and the victim reported the assault to the police. The case took almost three years to reach court, with the victim providing evidence.

Found guilty of assault by penetration. The victim reported the assault after Wade admitted to touching her for 10 minutes while she slept. DC Andrew Donaldson praised the victim's bravery and emphasised the serious impact of sexual crimes.

Robert Fitzjohn broke into a barber’s shop in Market Place on September 14, 2023, and was caught attempting to steal the till by the owner as he arrived to unlock the premises. Jo-ann Palmer stood in the middle of Park Road, near its junction with Dogsthorpe Road, at about 3.10pm on October 2, 2023, shouting and swearing at random people while holding a bike. She hurled racial abuse, telling them to go back to their own country and that they were not wanted. She also hit a Toyota car with her bike multiple times, shouting, swearing, kicking, and spitting on the car. She was arrested shortly after.

Pleaded guilty to racially aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress and criminal damage. No separate penalty for possession of cannabis.
