On February 12, 2025, William Poyning, 45, of no known address, was asked to leave the Bull Hotel in Westgate, Peterborough. While being escorted to an exit, he became violent, hitting a member of staff in the face with a Bible he was holding and kicking out at the victim. Staff and a member of the public managed to remove him from the hotel. The victim sustained a cut to his nose and bite marks on one of his fingers.
Pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.

Wendy Davies, 75, of Station Road, Isleham, kept pigs in hazardous conditions without a dry place to lie down or water, and poultry in a filthy environment at Willow Tree Stables. She also failed to maintain medicine records or reports of dead animals. Following an investigation by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Trading Standards, officers visited the holding on several occasions and provided extensive advice along with veterinary surgeons at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), but she failed to act to provide for the basic needs of her livestock.
Pleaded guilty to one animal welfare offence and was found guilty of a further nine animal welfare and disease control offences after a trial. Ordered to pay £10,000 in costs.

Police found her at her home in Mill Lane, Toft, with her car on the driveway. It had a damaged front wheel. She was arrested and was found to be over the legal alcohol limit.

On 25 July, Jack Walker, 27, of Clara Rackham Street, Cambridge, was spotted carrying a seven-inch bread knife in Ditton Lane, Cambridge. A member of the public flagged down police officers who were on patrol. When approached, Walker pulled the knife from his trousers and dropped it on the ground. He was arrested at the scene.
Pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place and commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order.

On the evening of October 12, 2024, Owen Dodwell, 21, of Ramsey Road, Warboys, was driving a black BMW and attempted to overtake another vehicle on a blind hill on the B1040 Somersham Road in St Ives, crossing a solid white line at an estimated 70mph. This caused a head-on crash with a blue Ford Transit Connect at a combined impact speed of around 130mph. The other driver suffered serious injuries including a fractured sternum, burns, missing teeth, and a broken ankle, requiring hospital treatment.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving. PC Wells commented that the collision was avoidable and caused by recklessness, showing disregard for road markings, speed limits, and safety of others.

Nicola Sharkey, 65, of The Green, Steeple Morden, conducted a prolonged campaign of harassment against her 94-year-old neighbour starting in 2021. She filmed the victim while he mowed his lawn or had visitors, verbally abused him and his visitors, and in September 2023 erected a six-foot-high fence that blocked his driveway access, making it difficult for him to receive food and medication deliveries. Her mobile phone contained 76 photos and videos of the victim, including footage from hidden cameras. The victim reported feeling cut off from the world, stressed, and scared to leave his house, especially after losing his wife and experiencing reduced mobility due to age.
Found guilty of harassment. Restraining order prohibits contact with neighbour or blocking the driveway.

Edward Allcock, a 62-year-old man now of no fixed abode, bellowed racist abuse and harassed his neighbours in Clarke Close, Cottenham, multiple times between Friday, 15 November and Wednesday, 27 November 2024. He also threw objects such as ceramic plates at his neighbour’s vehicles from his window.
Pleaded guilty to harassment without violence, racially aggravated harassment and failing to surrender to court bail. PC Bujar Mani commented that the actions caused significant distress and hopes the sentence serves as a warning.

Between 23 September and 6 October 2025, Sean Smith, a 26-year-old of no fixed address, stole goods worth more than £1,500 from stores across Cambridge including Decathlon, B&Q, Tesco, Superdrug and John Lewis. Items stolen included scratch cards, alcohol, electric toothbrushes and perfume. He also stole a bike by breaking its lock on Burleigh Street and assaulted the owner.
Pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft, three counts of burglary, bike theft and common assault. PC Bradleigh Bucknell commented on the consequences of persistent theft.

Daniel Cawley crashed his white Ford van into parked cars in Huntingdon Street, St Neots, at about 9pm on April 30. He was slurring his words, walked off towards Great Paxton, and later called police claiming the van had been stolen. He was identified from a video filmed by a member of the public, failed a breath test, and was arrested.
Pleaded guilty to drink driving and obstructing a constable. PC Charles Peters commented that Cawley crashed his vehicle, fled the scene, and attempted to mislead officers.

Ryan Woollard was driving a black Audi RS5 on the afternoon of 7 July when he crashed into a parked car at a garage on Witchford Road, Ely. He left the scene at speed, overtook a vehicle in a 20mph zone, and was arrested at the level crossing in Chettisham.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to provide a specimen for analysis, failing to stop after a road accident, and driving without insurance. PC Tom Horwood commented that Woollard’s behaviour put others at risk and showed disregard for the law.

Joshua Preece attempted to steal a donation tin from the Sue Ryder charity shop on Bridge Street in Peterborough on August 21, 2025. On the evening of June 14, 2025, Alexandra Cave was pulled over by police in Linton near Haverhill while driving a black Volkswagen Fox. She was disqualified from driving at the time and had a 16-month-old child in the front passenger seat. She provided a positive breath sample of 70 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath, twice the legal limit of 35 mcg, and an evidential sample of 41 in custody.

Vasile Ofimes crashed into barriers on Trumpington Street in Cambridge at about 8pm on Friday, July 4, while driving under the influence of alcohol. He stumbled from the vehicle, admitted to drinking, and was challenged by a member of the public who prevented him from driving further. He failed a roadside breath test and later recorded a reading of 87 in custody, exceeding the legal limit of 35.

Marcus Baker, 43, of Brackley Close, Cambridge, who was subject to a criminal behaviour order (CBO) for retail theft preventing him from entering any Co-op in Cambridge, breached it by entering the Co-op in Chesterton Road on Friday, 9 May, and stole chocolates and other items worth £60.
Admitted theft and breaching a CBO. Must also pay £60 in compensation to the Co-op. CBO remains in place until October.

Paul Springett was driving a white Citroen van and involved in a collision with another car in Green End Road, Cambridge on May 7, 2025. He stopped initially to exchange details but fled the scene when the other driver mentioned calling the police. A member of the public followed him and stayed on the phone with the control room until officers arrived at Bill Briggs Court, where he was arrested. He subsequently blew twice the legal limit for alcohol in custody.
Pleaded guilty. PC Beth Jamieson commented that he drove off to avoid being caught and thanked a member of the public for directing officers to him.

Andrius Baltuska crashed into multiple parked cars on Ramnoth Road, Wisbech, on April 26, while being more than three times over the legal alcohol limit. He was arrested after failing a roadside breath test, blowing 117 against a limit of 35, and it was discovered that his driving licence had expired and he was uninsured, leading to damage for several people involved.

Shaun Eldridge, 34, of Akeman Close, Stretham, was drinking at a pub in Ely before he took his ex-partner’s car without her consent and drove it at about 1am on 1 November 2024. He crashed into a barn in Upware Road, just outside Ely. Police received a 999 call about 20 minutes later. At the scene, he registered 109 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath, more than three times the legal limit of 35. Further checks revealed he had no valid driving licence and no insurance.
Pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, driving whilst disqualified, driving when above the legal alcohol limit, and aggravated vehicle taking without the owner’s consent.

RSPCA officers and police attended the address of Amy Roxby on October 31, 2024, after reports of malnourished cats. They found a dead kitten missing body parts surrounded by live cats and kittens in squalid conditions with strong smell of faeces and urine, flies, piles of dirty clothing, household rubbish, and torn food wrappers. No water was available, and the cats appeared very hungry, suffering from flea infestations and cat flu. Veterinary examinations confirmed the kittens suffered from cat flu, flea and worm infestations, anaemia, and starvation. Adult cats had similar conditions including disease and parasite infections. The cats and kittens were removed and placed in RSPCA care.
Pleaded guilty to an offence under Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Banned from keeping animals. Signed living animals over to RSPCA care for rehabilitation and rehoming.

In interview, she claimed she drank after arriving home, but a forensic toxicologist confirmed her reading would have been lower if true.

Paul Wells, 58, of Ackerman Gardens, Eaton Socon, allowed his lurcher dog to be dangerously out of control on 9 July 2023 in Eaton Socon, where it bit a 13-year-old girl on the hand while she was holding a cat, then killed the cat after she dropped it. A similar incident where the dog killed another cat was reported to the council months earlier. The dog was seized by police immediately following the attack.

Sarah Bellerby, 42, of Fincham’s Close, Linton, was reported by a member of the public for driving while over the drink drive limit to Wheatsheaf Way in Linton on 12 December. She was taken into custody and gave evidential breath readings of 112 and 107 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath, more than three times the legal limit of 35. This occurred during school pick up.

On 14 December 2023, Kirils Sidorovs, 33, was reported by a member of the public for sitting in his grey Volkswagen Passat drinking a can of beer while parked in Cottenham High Street. Police caught up with him at his home in King Street, Rampton. He provided a roadside breath test of 114 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes. In custody, he provided an evidential sample of 90 microgrammes. Five open cans of Stella Artois lager were found in his car.
Pleaded guilty to drink driving.

On the evening of 5 December 2023, Scott McSpadden, 39, entered Aldi in Sandyland, Wisbech, and picked up four bottles of Irish Country Cream Liqueur worth £19.96, escaping with the help of his partner Tanya Momot who opened the entrance doors from outside. The following day, the pair entered B&M in Cromwell Retail Park and loaded carrier bags with nine Elle hair straighteners, ten Elle heated hairbrush sets and eight fruity bath fizzers worth a total of £197.71 before being disturbed by staff but managed to run out with the items. They were arrested on 18 December 2023.
