Anthony Tindall, 44, of Brookfurlong, Peterborough, repeatedly targeted the BP Service Station in Bretton Way, Peterborough, from 11 February until 26 October, stealing food and drink worth hundreds of pounds on 20 occasions. He stole steak on seven occasions, cheese six times, as well as salmon, prawns, alcohol, chocolate, ice cream, and cheesecake. On 26 October, at about 12.30pm, he stole steaks, chicken, and beer. Police arrived to collect CCTV and while still in the shop, Tindall returned and picked up some salmon. He tried to run away, pulling over an officer who tried to grab his arm; the officer fell, hit her head, and was taken to hospital but made a full recovery. Upon arrest, officers found a small amount of cannabis on him.
Admitted 20 counts of theft from a shop, assault by beating of an emergency worker and possession of cannabis. Ordered to pay the injured officer £500.

Ionut Petre, 24, was driving a Volkswagen Sharan with a defective headlight in Serjeant Street, Peterborough, in the early hours of 29 November 2022. This caught the eye of officers in a patrol car, who followed before pulling him over in Harris Street. Petre smelt strongly of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet when asked to step out of the vehicle. He was breathalysed and gave a reading of 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath – more than double the legal limit of 35. He was also found to be disqualified from driving and not insured.

Shoplifting and related offences *

Marcus Sapra, 35, of St Bedes Crescent, Cambridge, was released from prison on 8 November after serving 12 weeks for previous shoplifting offences. One week later, on Thursday, he attempted to steal chicken wings from Co-op in Milton Road, Cambridge, and on Saturday, 12 November, he stole alcohol from Tesco in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge. He was arrested on Saturday and found in possession of a knife. The offences occurred shortly after his release and involved multiple breaches and thefts in the Cambridge area.
Pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place, four counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order, common assault, criminal damage, using threatening behaviour to cause alarm or distress, attempted theft and theft. Described as a prolific shoplifter causing misery to businesses.
Darwood Khan
Causing serious injury by dangerous driving *

Darwood Khan was driving a Volkswagen Golf in Searjeant Street, Peterborough, on August 22, 2022, when he ignored a police signal to stop. He sped off, narrowly avoided collisions with other vehicles, drove at excessive speed, ignored a give way sign, and collided with a Peugeot 307 at a junction. The collision forced the Peugeot onto the pavement and through a front garden, hitting a woman in her 60s who was walking along the street, causing her multiple fractures to her right leg. Khan and another man fled the scene but were pursued and arrested.
Admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Sergeant Ian Leeson commented that Khan showed a complete disregard for the safety of others and could have killed someone with his irresponsible behaviour.

Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child *

Andrew Turiccki, 31, used a false name on Facebook in January 2022 to talk to decoy profiles of girls aged 13 and 14, who were actually part of an online child activist group. He sent inappropriate images of himself and made sexual comments. The group later used an adult decoy to obtain his phone number and identity, leading to his confrontation and arrest on 20 February 2022 in Eastfield Road, Peterborough.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Detective Sergeant George Neal commented that although no contact offences were committed, the intent was to harm a child.

Possession with intent to supply cocaine *

Joseph Dunkley was stopped by police in Mill Road, Cambridge on 24 January 2022, in connection with another incident. He was searched and found with cash and cocaine. A search of his former home in Mill Road uncovered a mobile phone, cannabis, cocaine, and other drug paraphernalia.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply cannabis, and activating a previous suspended sentence. Detective Constable Sarah Lloyd commented on the negative impact of drug dealing in the community.

Gabriella Batchelor was arrested on March 14, 2021, in Lime Kiln Avenue, West Town, Peterborough, while driving a white Volkswagen Polo suspected in drug dealing. Officers found more than £500 in cash and six mobile phones in the car, with a large bag of cannabis dropped outside. Messages on her mobile phone linked her to the supply of cannabis.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Tried to claim ignorance, but evidence from her mobile phone proved involvement.

Aaron Granger stole a Jack Russell dog named George from a 71-year-old victim in Stanley Park, central Peterborough, on 15 October 2021 at about 12.30am. Granger approached the victim, who was walking George and another dog named Bill, pretended to be friendly, unclipped the lead, picked up the dog, tucked it inside his jacket, and ran off. The victim chased but lost him. Granger was captured on CCTV feeding pizza to the dog in Peterborough city centre and was arrested just over an hour later. The dogs had been in the victim's care for four years following the death of a close friend.
Pleaded guilty to theft. Ordered to pay £50 compensation to the victim.

Asadul Karim was driving a silver Mercedes at approximately 100mph while almost three times over the legal alcohol limit, disqualified from driving, and without insurance. He lost control at the Spittals Interchange roundabout near Huntingdon on July 12, 2021, and collided with a Honda Civic that was waiting at a red light, resulting in the instant death of the driver, Mark Rulman from Warboys.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, while disqualified and without insurance. Detective Sergeant Craig Wheeler commented on the selfishness of drink-driving and the impact on the victim's family.

On April 10, 2021, Angel Merdzhanov, a 44-year-old provisional licence holder from Waterfield Avenue, Fakenham, drove an uninsured Audi A4 erratically near Wisbech police station along Lynn Road, swerving all over the road, hitting kerbs multiple times, driving very slowly, unable to keep a straight line, and braking unnecessarily. Three intoxicated passengers were in the vehicle, none fit to supervise him. A member of the public reported the driving to police. Officers followed and conducted a roadside breath test showing 85 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath (legal limit 35). An evidential test at Thorpe Wood Police Station showed 75 micrograms.
Pleaded guilty. Disqualification can be reduced by completing a drink-driver rehabilitation course. No separate penalties for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and having no insurance. First offence, in the country for five years.

Inside a padlocked room, officers found a large-scale drugs factory containing class A and B drugs, including amphetamine, MDMA, mephedrone and cannabis, with a street value of more than £200,000. Further mephedrone, amphetamine, hundreds of pounds in cash, a Taser torch, an ingredient list, scales, and deal bags were also found in the house.
Pleaded guilty to possession of MDMA and being concerned in the supply of amphetamine. Found guilty of being concerned in the production of cannabis, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of MDMA, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of DMPEA following an earlier trial.
