Sentence: 4 years imprisonment and a 5-year driving ban

Sheeba Bukuru was overtaking a car at speed on the wrong side of a 'keep left' bollard when he struck a female cyclist on Fulbourn Road in Cambridge on 24 November 2024, causing her severe injuries including a fractured skull, bleed on the brain, broken pelvis, arm, leg, ribs, dislocated shoulder, and damaged lungs. He fled the scene in his black BMW, abandoned the vehicle, and falsely reported it as stolen at knifepoint. He was arrested later that day with the car key in his possession.
