Leeds Magistrates' Court Sentencing Results

Mark Ward, aged 45, was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates' Court for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order by failing to attend induction appointments and failing to provide acceptable evidence within five working days. He was fined £50.

Richard Smith, aged 38, was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates' Court for failing to provide a specimen. He received a 42-month driving ban, a £430 fine, and was ordered to pay £85 costs.

Robert Hawkins, 44, was sentenced for racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress, and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

Christopher Douglas Groom, a former North Yorkshire Police response officer for Hambleton and Richmond, made 8,707 Category C indecent photographs of children between 3 December 2014 and 14 November 2021. The images were recovered from devices used exclusively by him through an extensive digital forensic examination. He pleaded guilty to the offences.

Christopher Jones, 36, breached a sexual harm prevention order by failing to notify police within three days of acquiring a device capable of accessing the internet. He also failed to surrender to bail and possessed a police-style metal baton.

Christopher Platt was before the court for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order. The order was varied to include a two-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Gareth Trevor committed racially or religiously aggravated alarm or distress and criminal damage. He received a 12-month conditional discharge.

Garrison Donne, 35, failed to provide a specimen for testing after being suspected of a driving offence. He received a driving ban, fine, costs and surcharge.

George Duncan, 47, was sentenced for stalking without fear, alarm or distress. He received a community order, a fine, a restraining order and costs.

Helena Ward obstructed a police constable. She received a six-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £26 surcharge.
