Kirklees Huddersfield Magistrates' Court Sentencing Results

Ezee Richmond was caught driving in April while banned and without insurance, having driven a short distance in Huddersfield. Magistrates heard he had previously received a 16-month prison sentence for dangerous driving and a 54-month driving ban in October 2024, and that he has 22 convictions for 63 offences.

Andrew Leadbeater operated an illegal waste site without a permit on Wyke Lane in Bradford. Complaints about flytipping and burning received by council in 2023. In June 2023, he admitted burning some waste and promised to stop and clear site. Environment Agency visited in September 2024, finding fire-damaged trailers and waste including paints, engine oils and tyres. No removal by November 2024 and March 2025. Notice issued to clear by 22 September 2025, not complied with. Failed to attend interview in October 2025. Also failed to comply with notice to remove waste.

Laurie-Ann Connelly neglected her grey female mastiff-type dog, Elsa, at her home on Eastdean Drive, Leeds. Elsa was found in an emaciated state with sunken head, visible bones, overgrown claws, sores, entropion in both eyes causing pain and impaired vision, and severe hip dysplasia. The neglect led to Elsa's suffering over at least two weeks, resulting in her euthanasia despite veterinary efforts. The conditions in the home included a strong smell of faeces and urine.

Conrad Grice worked illegally as a door supervisor on 5 October 2024 and 25 October 2024 in Pontefract and Castleford despite his SIA licence having been revoked following a prior conviction. He pleaded guilty to two offences under Section 3 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

Abdulrehman Patel sold a disposable electronic cigarette (Elf Bar 600) to a 13-year-old test purchaser at Patsons News, 15 Branch Road, Batley, WF17 7RX, in October 2022. The premises had prior complaints about selling age-restricted products to under-18s. He assisted with the investigation and was co-operative.

Branston, 25, drove after drinking and clipped a stone step while negotiating a narrow section of Town End Road, Holmfirth, on August 1. The airbags deployed and no one was hurt. She was found to be over the limit and pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Anthony Hall, who is blind, drove his partner's Vauxhall Meriva 150 miles from Huddersfield to north of Carlisle on the M6 on 29 June, following the red rear lights of a lorry. He had no licence or insurance and had taken the car without permission. Police stopped him at around 1:45am after the vehicle was seen weaving between lanes and driving on the hard shoulder. The court heard he wanted to get away to Scotland because of ongoing family disagreements, partly over finances.

Bailey Coore was found in possession of a carrier bag of cannabis with a street value of around £2,800. After being spotted in a car, he got out and ran away, disposing of the bag before it was recovered by police.

Police carried out a pre-planned drugs raid at Lloyd's home in Stocksmoor, Huddersfield, where they found a sophisticated cannabis-growing set-up in a rear living room including a tent, lights, fans, transformers and 11 mature plants.

Greaves failed to comply with the requirements of the sex offenders' register when he took a trip to Poland without notifying police, and also failed to notify two new bank cards. The court heard he had been placed on the register in 2022 for a 10-year period.

Azeem was a passenger in a car stopped by police at junction 25 of the M62 near Brighouse. Officers described him as nervous and uneasy, and during a stop-and-search found a 12-inch black-handled machete in his back pocket. He admitted possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Rehan Sajid drove an uninsured BMW dangerously in Batley in May 2025, reaching more than 60mph on a 30mph road where children were playing while attempting to evade police. He ignored a No Entry sign after police activated blue lights and sirens. A baton was found in the car's footwell, and a probation officer said his actions were driven by panic.

Shahida Parveen Hussain admitted causing serious injury by careless driving after hitting a pedestrian in Batley while driving at about 15mph on a dark and rainy night. She stopped and helped the victim, who suffered a broken nose and serious dental injuries requiring seven surgical procedures.

Steven Garner drove a Vauxhall Corsa in May while banned and without insurance. Magistrates accepted he had misunderstood his five-year driving ban. He received six penalty points and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £365.

Usamah Imran Kantharia struck a pedestrian with his car in Mirfield after mounting the kerb while driving to Dewsbury on 2 March with his wife and newborn baby on board. The pedestrian suffered a bleeding head wound and a broken heel. Kantharia stopped and called police.

Graham Whitehead appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court over a joint and was told to pay £197. Police had arrested him on an unrelated matter.

Hama Amin Wahab Zahid, sole director of Fone Den Plus Ltd, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Trade Marks Act 1994 relating to counterfeit goods seized during an inspection on 1 September 2021 at Unit 402, Batley Enterprise Centre, 513 Bradford Road, Batley. The goods included items bearing Samsung and Apple trademarks such as travel adaptors, earphones, mobile phone backs, screens, and leather cases.

Jayden Wilkinson was searched at Kirklees College engineering centre and found to have a kitchen knife over 20cm long tucked into his joggers. He said he had forgotten about the knife.

Kasper Glowaki was stopped by police after speeding past them in Ravenscliffe, Bradford, in June the previous year. Officers could smell intoxicants and asked him to provide a breath test, but he tried to swap seats and then refused to provide a specimen.

Kevin Wilson, who was previously banned from Huddersfield town centre, breached his criminal behaviour order. He was picked up by police on August 20 and admitted the breach. He told the court he had not done anything wrong for ages.
