She approached McClean and asked him to stop however he continued and began taking pictures of her on his mobile phone. McClean was eventually removed from the supermarket by security staff leaving Philippa shaken by the attack. Following the incident, McClean posted images taken on his mobile phone onto Facebook where he continued to make transphobic and hateful comments.

The case began when Aylward engaged in online conversations that escalated to planning a sexual encounter with what he believed was a minor. The paedophile hunters, operating independently, gathered evidence of these exchanges and alerted Surrey Police, who then took over the investigation. Aylward was filmed arriving at the arranged meeting point, providing key evidence for the prosecution. At Guildford Crown Court in March 2016, Aylward pleaded guilty to the charges. The judge noted the predatory intent demonstrated in the communications, despite the decoy nature of the operation.

The phone revealed incriminating messages linked to drug dealing. On 8 February, 41-year-old Ricardo Godinho followed his ex-partner Aliny Mendes, who was on a bus with their 3-year-old daughter. When she stepped off at a junction in Ewell, Epsom, Godinho got out of his car and stabbed her multiple times, then fled. Mendes, 39, died at the scene from multiple stab wounds. Godinho was arrested 90 minutes later in Cheam after a colleague alerted police to his confession. The court heard the couple had separated in December 2018 and Godinho’s behaviour had become increasingly threatening.
Pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied murder and knife possession charges; convicted of murder. Prosecutor described him as calm and calculated, citing planning evidenced by the large knife and digital history. Eyewitnesses identified him and a colleague reported his confession.
Richard Rowles

When stopped, Dent made excuses, couldn’t produce proof of buying the car that day, and officers smelled cannabis. A search found cash, scales, a knife, and a positive cocaine drug swipe. He was arrested, and later in custody, hidden cocaine and heroin were discovered in his clothes.

On 12 December 2018, just before 9pm, Lewis Vivian entered a family-run post office on Woodmansterne Road in Banstead. As a staff member prepared to close up, Vivian leapt over the counter and demanded cash, then brandished a handgun. He snatched more than £2,000 in cash. CCTV images were released and two Metropolitan Police officers independently spotted Vivian, tipping off Surrey Police. Phone data placed him at the scene on the night of the crime. He was arrested on 5 January 2019. A search of his home uncovered the handgun matching the victim's description. He was convicted of robbery at Guildford Crown Court.

Tyler Eastley, a 20-year-old from Lowlands Drive, Stanwell, Staines-Upon-Thames, TW19, assaulted a five-year-old girl by penetration. He engaged in a degree of grooming before the assault. The victim suffered significant trauma, becoming afraid of men in hats and police cars, feeling guilty and blaming herself, and exhibiting changed behaviour.
Convicted after a four-day trial. Judge Alexia Durran described Eastley as 'an immature young man' with a history of substance abuse who had engaged in 'a degree of grooming'. Defence cited wretched upbringing. Sexual harm prevention order imposed, banning unsupervised contact with girls under 16 without parental consent; placed on sex offenders register. To serve minimum four-and-a-half years before parole eligibility, maximum nine years in prison plus licence.

Vasiq Moughal, 61, of Riverside Park in Weybridge, breached his sexual harm prevention order by failing to disclose a new iPhone to police. In July 2018, he received a nine-month suspended sentence for possession of an indecent image of a child and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, committed while driving a school bus. Less than two months later, he bought the iPhone, violating the requirement to disclose internet-accessible devices. The case was investigated by Surrey Police.
Breach was minor; previous convictions for possession of indecent image of a child and inciting children. Judge Robert Fraser deemed activation of suspended sentence unjust considering his new job as a courier and seriously ill wife.

Whitney Thornton, 22, from Nottingham, attempted to smuggle 48.6 grams of cannabis into HMP Coldingley in Bisley on April 27, 2018. She concealed the drugs inside her bra during a prison visit. They were discovered during a routine search by prison staff. At Guildford Crown Court on July 5, she was sentenced for conveying drugs into the prison and for breaching previous orders.
Pleaded guilty to conveying drugs into prison. Received 8 months for the smuggling offence and 10 months for breaching previous orders, giving a total of 18 months.
William Bushby

William Bushby sexually abused a child in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The crimes took place in Woking and Pirbright, Surrey. Surrey Police launched an investigation after the victim came forward in 2017 and made an allegation of historic sexual abuse.

On 6th February 2023, near Thomas Knyvett College, Ashford, a 16-year-old girl attacked a fellow schoolgirl, grabbing her hair, ripping a section from her head, dragging her to the floor, punching her and putting her in a headlock. Winnie Connors, aged 40, of Stanwell, together with two younger girls, encouraged the assault. The attack lasted about two minutes and was filmed. Connors was arrested at the scene and later pleaded guilty to intentionally encouraging and assisting the commission of an assault.
