In 2021, Vicky Robertson mistakenly received £8,400 from Slough Borough Council intended for a supplier due to a clerical error substituting her bank details. She transferred the funds to another account and spent them within months instead of notifying the bank. At the time, she was claiming means-tested Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support without declaring the windfall.

Pleaded guilty to dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit, contrary to section 24A of the Theft Act 1968. Magistrates commented she knew what she had done was wrong but thought she had come into some luck. Voluntarily repaying prior to sentencing.

Pleaded guilty to the charges. Guilty plea was taken into account during sentencing.
