Officers patrolling the area blocked his path, but he reversed and accelerated directly toward a police officer on foot, who narrowly avoided serious injury. Breath tests post-arrest showed 98 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, nearly three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Matthew Morgan, 45, was arrested in The Boulevard, Crawley, at about 6.45pm on Saturday 17 January 2026 after a tip-off that he was drink driving. He was at the wheel of a blue Lamborghini Urus and failed a roadside breath test, recording 89 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, well over the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Enquiries revealed he was disqualified from driving due to a drink driving conviction in Surrey less than two years previously. He was charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance, and pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates Court on 19 January 2026. He was sentenced to three years in prison, a 74-month driving disqualification, and a £154 victim surcharge.

On December 15, 2024, Sussex Police stopped a Ford Transit van in Crawley suspecting it was displaying cloned number plates. The 49-year-old driver from Dorking, Surrey, was arrested and tested positive for cocaine above the legal limit via blood test. He was already disqualified from driving and admitted cloning the number plates to avoid detection.

He was identified after a video of one offence was posted on social media and was arrested on Tuesday 20 May. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Crawley Magistrates' Court.

Tristram Francis smashed his way into the Co-op store in The Parade, Pagham, in the early hours of Saturday 26 April 2025, stealing several bottles of alcohol (including rum, whisky and Scotch valued at £327) and two charity collection boxes. He was identified by officers on CCTV and arrested a short distance away in Aldwick Road, still wearing the same clothes. Francis was found in possession of a hammer, crowbar, Stanley knife and screwdriver. He admitted two business burglaries and one count of going equipped to burgle.
Pleaded guilty to burglary and going equipped to burgle. The offences placed him in breach of a suspended sentence for similar offending.

Iain Nicholas, 43, a road construction worker from Rainham, Kent, was stopped by police on the A23 northbound at Bolney at about 2.30pm on Monday 11 November 2024. Officers had seen items unsecured in his flatbed van, including a loose wheelbarrow, and that he was not wearing a seatbelt. A roadside DrugsWipe tested positive for cocaine. Subsequent blood analysis showed benzoylecgonine levels exceeding the upper measurement limit, giving a reading in excess of 800 micrograms per litre of blood, against a legal limit of 50. He admitted drug driving before the court.

Juodis drove a heavy goods vehicle on the A23 south of Crawley while nearly five times the legal alcohol limit. He failed to stop for officers who had activated blue lights, eventually stopping in a live lane of the M23 after four miles. He had consumed half a bottle of vodka. The incident happened at about 1am on January 11, 2025. He gave a roadside breath test and later in custody tested 172 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath, nearly five times the legal limit.
Pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit. Had similar previous convictions for drink driving.

Police observed her typing with both thumbs, looking down into her lap, and she continued using the phone as the vehicle moved forward despite stationary traffic. He was pursued by Sussex Police’s Roads Policing Unit. The chase ended on Jane Murray Way in Burgess Hill, where he narrowly avoided a milk float at a roundabout. A roadside drug test confirmed he was over the legal limit for cannabis, with blood tests showing 2.3 micrograms per litre.

The next evening, a PCSO spotted Blunden on Hurst Road with cuts on his hand consistent with the break-in. He was arrested and charged. Blunden also admitted stealing another charity box from 1 Research shop in West Street on 14 May.
