Tony Porter
Participating in the activities of an organised crime gang *
Sentence
22 months imprisonment
Tony Porter, 69, of Burdet Close, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire, acted as an occasional driver for Joshua Gordon in the Leicestershire area, transporting small amounts of crack cocaine. He drove Gordon, Huntley, Mills-Smith, and his partner Quailey-Dashper to a McDonald's near Llys Illtyd, Talbot Green, on March 9, 2025, where the group carried out the murder of Joanne Penney by shooting her at close range in the heart upon opening her door at 10 Llys Illtyd, Green Park. Porter waited around the corner in his Nissan Note and drove them away after the shooting, returning to Leicester with Quailey-Dashper and Gordon. His involvement stemmed from a clash between rival organised crime groups, one headed by Gordon (Rico OCG) involved in serious drug trafficking. Porter received £10-15 per trip as 'pocket money' and claimed unawareness of the murder plot, having lived a blameless life prior but fell into involvement after his wife's death, job loss, and homelessness.
Convicted of participating in the activities of an organised crime gang. Served 40% on remand (1 year and 4 days), released to serve the rest on licence. Described as helpful, cheap, and unquestioning by the judge. No prior convictions; motivated by relationship with partner Melissa Quailey-Dashper.
