On October 10, 2023, William Jamieson, 27, of Bron y Wawr, North Cornelly, was stopped by police driving a Ford Fiesta in a dangerous position near junction 10 of the M3 motorway close to Basingstoke, Hampshire. He appeared under the influence of drugs, confirmed by a saliva test positive for cocaine, and was accompanied by his partner. A search of the vehicle revealed a black flick knife and a police-issued stab vest under the driver's seat, 18 wraps of heroin (6.25g) and two wraps of cocaine (0.13g) hidden in a container inside a hoody on the front passenger seat, and a rucksack containing scales and cling film. A subsequent search at his partner's address uncovered an additional 36.23g of heroin in a plastic container, plus 5.11g of cannabis. In total, 42.84g of heroin was seized with a street value of £1,680 to £2,410. Mobile phones seized from Jamieson showed evidence of an active drug supply operation, including videos of him with large quantities of drugs and holding two knives.

When the victim tried to tell his parents, he was not believed and the matter went unreported. The victim suffered lasting devastation, turning to drugs, receiving counselling, contemplating suicide, and requiring anti-depressants.
Found guilty at trial of five counts of indecent assault and four counts of committing a serious sexual offence. No previous convictions. Subject to a restraining order for 10 years. Defence argued denial of offences and that he was a teenager at the time of most offending.

Stolen items included keys, a MacBook, a PlayStation 4, a watch, a pocket knife, clothing, food and wine, valued at £2,500. She was linked via DNA on a drinks carton and headband, and CCTV. On October 31, 2025, she attempted to steal a handbag and boxer shorts worth £233 from John Lewis in Cardiff. On November 15, 2025, she used stolen bank cards from a car break-in at NCP car park on Westgate Street to spend £273 at various locations including a bakery, convenience store, nail salon, charity shop and petrol station, identified via CCTV.
Admitted two counts of burglary, theft from a shop and fraud by false representation. Judge Paul Hobson noted little confidence in compliance with suspended sentence due to history of non-compliance. Five previous convictions, including three for theft. Offences committed to fund cocaine and heroin addiction.

The boy was left confused, uncomfortable, scared to go out alone, struggling to eat and sleep, increasingly isolated, and expressing thoughts of not wanting to be here anymore, with concerns about self-harming.

Mark Ball, 46, of Thirlmere Place, Newport, ploughed into 84-year-old Charles Sully as he crossed Old Cardiff Road off Cardiff Road in Newport with the help of two walking sticks just before 5pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Mr Sully, described as frail, was carried for around five metres on the bonnet of the car before being left with devastating injuries on the ground as Ball reversed at speed and fled the scene. He never regained consciousness and died six days later in hospital. Ball denied being the driver and falsely blamed his father, who confirmed the lie in a statement to police. Ball maintained the false account even after his father's death last year before admitting responsibility. He was found hiding behind a gate in a nearby garden after suspected fleeing during arrest. Nearly crashed again a mile away during escape.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving, dangerous driving, causing death by driving an unlicensed vehicle, and causing death by driving while uninsured. Learner and uninsured driver with 39 previous convictions for 90 offences, including taking a vehicle without consent and drink driving. Requires dialysis three times a week due to chronic kidney disease and has suffered with drug abuse problems. Disqualified from driving for three years following release, must pass extended driving test, and pay victim surcharge.

On February 10, 2026, undercover officers from South Wales Police's serious and organised crime team observed Lee Whitfield engaging in suspicious behaviour during proactive covert patrols in Cardiff, believing they witnessed a drug deal. Subsequent enquiries confirmed that an individual meeting Whitfield possessed crack cocaine. Whitfield was later seen repeatedly entering and exiting a property, suspected of supplying drugs. Upon arrest at the address, searches of the property and his vehicle recovered an iPhone linked to a drugs line, a crack pipe, loose rocks of crack cocaine, digital scales with traces of white powder, and white rocks in clear wrapping.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine. Detective Constable Adam Fenlon commented on the impact of removing drug dealers from the community.

Sarah Chant, 32, of Partridge Way, Duffryn, shared a home with Asjad Ali where a hydraulic press for adulterating cocaine was set up in a bedroom. She was seen driving her husband to supply drugs on two occasions and was directly involved in discussions about purchasing the press. She was arrested after being stopped driving a BMW in Capel Crescent as part of the £8m Class A drugs network operation.

Zekkam Ali, 37, of Alma Street, Newport, ran a sophisticated organised crime group that flooded south Wales with an estimated £8m worth of Class A drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine. He regularly travelled to Birmingham to purchase bulk quantities from upstream suppliers and operated a dedicated drugs phone line with over 800 customers. The network supplied an estimated 38kg of heroin worth more than £3m and 55kg of crack cocaine valued at £5m. He recruited juveniles to work in the enterprise and received £30,000 in state benefits during the period.

Christian Morse, a 52-year-old registered sex offender from Newport, deliberately and persistently breached two court orders between April 1, 2024, and October 11, 2025. He stayed at his new partner's home on more than 20 occasions despite prohibition, had unsupervised contact with a child under 16, and took a caravan holiday without notifying police of the address where he stayed for seven days or longer within a 12-month period. These breaches related to orders imposed after his 2016 conviction for sexual activity with a child under 16 and inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity involving the grooming and sexual abuse of an underage teenage girl.
Admitted breaching sexual harm prevention order and sex offender notification requirements. Ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement, pay £187 victim surcharge and £150 costs. Judge noted it was a salutary lesson.

A 54-year-old man from Swansea was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on 20 March 2026 to nine years and six months in prison for a series of child sex offences spanning over a decade in the 1980s. Nicholas Alexander Llewellyn Adams, of Rhondda Street, was found guilty of 10 counts relating to the physical and sexual abuse of a boy who was under 10 when the abuse began. The court heard that Adams started with physical assaults, which escalated to forcing the child to perform sexual acts on him, causing multiple injuries over several years. He silenced the victim with threats. The charges included five counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14 and five counts of buggery with a boy under 16. In a victim impact statement, the survivor described lifelong psychological trauma and relief at the conclusion of the case. In addition to the prison sentence, Adams was given a 10-year restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Found guilty of 10 non-recent child sex offences, including indecent assaults and buggery. Also subjected to a 10-year restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
