Kai Lewis, of Tweedsmuir Road in Tremorfa, Cardiff, carried out multiple sexual assaults on two victims when he was in his mid to late teens (under 18). The first victim was of primary school age when the abuse began, involving a number of sexual assaults that left her with flashbacks, suicidal thoughts, and inability to form healthy relationships. The second victim was also of primary school age during the abuse, which caused her to feel disgusting, vulnerable, scared of men, and struggle with mental health, requiring antidepressants. The victims did not realize the acts were wrong until later, through sex education and a sleepover. They contacted police separately, leading to Lewis's arrest and conviction.

Jamal Hourrieh, 24, of Penhevad Street, Grangetown, Cardiff, was involved in supplying heroin and cocaine. A drugs warrant was executed at his home on September 10, 2025, leading to his arrest. Messages on his seized mobile phone showed he sent 70 to 200 messages per day to customers, using the alias 'Kik', describing himself as 'active', and offering to 'get looked after'. He referred to his customers as 'Gs' and had a large customer base. Hourrieh refused to provide the PIN but police accessed the phone. He remained silent during interview but later pleaded guilty.

In September, he travelled by train from London Paddington to Cardiff to collect £16,000 from an 80-year-old man and attempted to collect from a 78-year-old man who became suspicious and did not hand over the money. He snatched the package from the first victim as instructed by his hostile employers, delivered it to an address near Kings Cross in London, and admitted to similar pickups 5-10 times in other locations like Oxford, Peterborough, and Portsmouth. He was arrested at Cardiff Central railway station in possession of two iPhones and £104 cash, claiming he was paid but unaware of contents.
Pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess criminal property. Of previous good character. Remorseful towards victims and family. Judge noted realistic prospect of rehabilitation.
Gavin Davies

When challenged by the victim, who was in the shop with his stepdaughter, Davies charged at him, punching him several times to the face and head, and biting him on the nose. The assault continued on the floor, causing further damage to shop items. The victim suffered injuries including ongoing pain in his wrist and thumb, and described his world as 'turned upside-down', fearing for his life.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, and criminal damage. Made subject to a restraining order for five years. Judge Paul Hobson described the behaviour as 'utterly disgraceful' and like a 'wild animal'. Released from prison earlier that day, had been drinking, and was in a bad mood after being assaulted by another person.

The phone and Facebook account came to police attention via the county lines and development team who seized several mobiles.

James Liddle, 23, of Ringwood Hill, Newport, drove to his ex partner's home in Newport at 2.17am after sending abusive messages about access to his daughter. He arrived in a Volkswagen Golf, pulled her by the hair into the car, and drove off at excessive speeds while angry, erratic, and inhaling gas from a balloon. He hit pedestrian Leon Manley who was crossing Somerton Road, causing a loud bang and smashing the windscreen, but continued driving. Manley was found in a pool of blood with extensive head injuries including a deformed head, significant forehead wound, multiple facial fractures (eye socket, jaw, nose), skull, neck, and upper back injuries, and a degloved middle finger with part missing. Liddle parked in Broadmead, took a taxi with his ex, then returned two hours later to set the car alight to destroy evidence. He was arrested on October 10 after shunting a police car while trying to escape. DNA from a Red Bull can and car handle linked him to the vehicle.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, kidnapping, perverting the course of justice, and driving whilst disqualified. Has four previous convictions for dangerous driving and other motoring offences. In mitigation, his emotions got the better of him after an argument with his ex partner.

On September 7, 2025, Ryan Axton, 33, of Campion Close, Newport, approached his acquaintance Gareth Foster-Wells in Newport as he rode past The Alexandra pub on his Boardman electric bike. Axton initially asked for a cigarette before attempting to get on the back of the bike. When the victim refused to give him a lift, Axton became aggressive, swinging his arms and punching the victim to the left side of his face, causing him to stumble. During the struggle, Axton took possession of the £800 electric bike and cycled away. The bike was never recovered. The victim reported being unable to switch off from the incident, experiencing anxiety, flashbacks, lack of confidence, and inability to purchase a new bike.

The stalking began after she reported an assault by him to the police. He left 278 abusive voice messages on her phone over four months, despite her changing her number multiple times, including threats like 'I'll watch your little world crumble' and insults such as 'simple fat c***' and 'f****** fat slob'. On March 25, 2025, he turned up while she was with a friend, attempted to open the car door, and later sent photos of himself holding a knife and knuckledusters captioned 'Can't wait to meet them', referring to her potential new partner. He followed her to Merthyr Tydfil, questioned her about being in another man's house, turned up at her home and in a shop, leaving her terrified. Police arrested him nearby after a call to her home, finding knives and knuckledusters at his residence and a flick knife in his car.

David Morgan, a 24-year-old from Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, posted nine tweets in September and October 2024 on X (formerly Twitter) with intent to stir up racial hatred. The posts included images glorifying Nazi gas chambers, depicting black people as monkeys, antisemitic caricatures such as a hazmat-suited figure with a Nazi armband spraying gas towards a Jewish man, banknotes moving towards an oven captioned 'Only antisemites understand this photo', a man urinating on a menorah, a train track heading into a gas chamber, a monopoly board implying all black people should be in prison, and Holocaust victim Anne Frank saying 'Gas me outside'. He advanced conspiracy theories blaming Jews for global economic instability and the 9/11 attacks, and black people for rising crime rates, claiming white people are being eradicated. Morgan had 127,800 followers on his main account and may have monetised his posts. He was reported to police by Jewish users Caroline Ost and Adam Morris after X failed to remove the content despite complaints.

The mother retrieved a clear plastic bag from behind the shed containing 14.2g of Class A cocaine, 55.2g of Class B ketamine, and 67.5g of Class C cannabis, along with weighing scales and grinders. Brown, a recovering drug addict who had relapsed, had contacted a drug dealer to buy ketamine, met him in his car, and took possession of the bag after he was involved in a car accident. She was unaware of the full contents initially and transported it home by bus and taxi. Messages on her seized iPhones discussed the bag with her boyfriend, who gave no comment in a voluntary interview but faced no charges.

On July 8, 2025, Richardson was stopped in Newport city centre and found in possession of £90 cash, five wraps of cannabis, and a Nokia burner phone used for advertising cannabis sales via text bombs.

Llion Evans

In July 2023, Llion Evans, using the online name 'Jimbo Jones', engaged in sexualised chats on the Kik app with a profile he believed was a 12-year-old schoolgirl from Newport, unaware it was an undercover police decoy. Conversations included discussions of 'naughty massages', 'messy massages', and wanting to shower with the child, though some exchanges were non-sexual. In October 2023, police raided his home in Elm Grove Road, Dinas Powys, Vale of Glamorgan, seizing devices. Analysis revealed over 350 indecent images of children (75 Category A, including abuse of a baby), prohibited images, extreme pornography, and evidence he shared images, including a Category A image, in a Kik group. He was arrested twice and released on bail during forensic examination.
Pleaded guilty. No previous convictions. Judge Vanessa Francis described behaviour as 'utterly reprehensible'. Registered as sex offender for 10 years. Thamer Alrabie, 36, from Leckwith, entered the victim's home in Cardiff on the night of January 12, 2025, and sexually assaulted the woman at knifepoint. William Fellowes, 34, of Pentregethin Road, Portmead, Swansea, was observed selling drugs to known users in Swansea on August 4, 2025, while riding an electric scooter and was stopped near Cwmbwrla roundabout. Messages on his phone showed he was advertising cocaine for sale. Police searched his home, finding a silver hold-all containing a 382g block of cocaine worth £11,600, £9,540 in cash, tick lists, 18 snap bags containing 24.9g of cocaine worth £1,440, scales, and a further 13 snap bags of 193g of cocaine worth £6,300, along with drug paraphernalia. He was also in possession of £150 at the time of stop.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of criminal property, and being concerned in supply of cocaine. Has 31 previous convictions, including possession with intent to supply cannabis and shining a laser beam at an aircraft. Diagnosed with ADHD, has two children.

She was arrested at Morriston Hospital on August 4, 2025, after police searched her home and discovered scales with cocaine residue, £810 in cash, an A4 pad containing tick lists, and three bags of heroin weighing 41.2g. Messages on Fellowes' phone revealed communications between him and Clark relating to their joint enterprise. The total value of drugs seized in the operation was £29,500.

Gave birth while on remand in custody. Barrister stated her partner Daryl Price was the driving force of the enterprise and had fled to Vietnam or Thailand.
Austin Hockey

Austin Hockey, 32, of Acrebush Close, Bristol, was stopped by police on December 1, 2023, on a roundabout just outside Narberth in Pembrokeshire. A search of his vehicle and backpack revealed two bags of cannabis female flowering head weighing 81g and 29g, 80 small tablets of MDMA, and 2C-B tablets. Phones seized contained messages advertising MDMA and different strains of cannabis in 'text bombs'. The MDMA tablets were worth between £328 and £1,040, cannabis valued at £1,370, and 2C-B tablets at £840. He received £171,000 into his bank account during the offending period. When confronted by officers about the cannabis, he said 'I smoke that in a day.'
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. No previous convictions. Gained qualifications while in prison and supported other prisoners. Driven by financial gain as a street dealer, difficult childhood with adverse experiences leading to early substance use and homelessness.
Ashley Morris
Causing grievous bodily harm with intent *

Ashley Morris, 39, launched an unprovoked brutal attack on his 78-year-old neighbour Lyndon Griffiths outside their homes in Brackla, Bridgend. After Griffiths parked his car following a shop visit, Morris approached him, told him to 'smile now', punched him to the floor, pinned him down, rained punches on his head and face, and kicked him repeatedly while he was down. Griffiths was left unconscious, covered in blood, and suffered appalling bruising, swelling, and three seizures in hospital. Morris then returned to his flat as if nothing happened.
Admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent. No remorse shown. Described as a dangerous individual by police.

Craig Dowding, 34, of Greene Close, Newport, committed two horrific assaults on his friend and neighbour Robert Eddington. On May 14, 2025, while socialising at Mr Eddington's home in Newport, Dowding lost his temper over the victim using his crack pipe. He punched Mr Eddington dozens of times, stabbed a butane gas canister with a knife, squirted it at the victim's lap, and set fire to his hands and face with a lighter, causing full thickness burns to 6.5% of his body including the right side of his forehead, right eye socket, right side of his mouth and cheek, nose, upper chest wall, and blisters on his left wrist, thumbs and fingers. The victim was treated at Grange University Hospital but discharged himself against medical advice. On June 9, 2025, at a mutual friend's home while watching a Wales football match, Dowding, after drinking, became abusive, threw a knife from a knife block at Mr Eddington, then hit him over the head with a large knife, causing a 15cm wound to the left side of his head, bruises to his left cheek, a broken nose, a fractured jaw, and loss of 1000ml of blood.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding with intent and arson. Found to be a dangerous offender. Previous convictions for violence, racially aggravated assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and robbery. Suffered with mental health issues.

On August 11, 2025, Demba Sey, 21, was a passenger in a Volkswagen Polo in Grangetown, Cardiff, when approached by police. He and the unidentified driver attempted to flee from Virgil Court, during which Sey threw an iPhone into bushes. Police detained him and found a hunting knife in his waistband, seven wraps of crack cocaine (1.71g), 13 wraps of heroin (3.71g), and £120 in his pocket. He became homeless at 19 after being kicked out by his mother for partying and messing around, leading to sofa surfing, sleeping on benches, and reliance on food banks.

On June 3, 2025, at approximately 10.30pm, Blake Williams, 19, of Clarence Place, Newport, entered a Tesco Express store on Caerleon Road, Newport, picked up a basket, and selected confectionery and soft drinks worth £27. As he attempted to leave without paying, shop worker Darshan Deorukhar confronted him, knocking the basket to the floor. Williams then brandished a screwdriver, lunged at staff, jabbed Mr Deorukhar in the chest causing a bruise, shoved him, and threatened 'Don't try and stop me, watch me.' He also brandished a knife before fleeing. Mr Deorukhar reported feeling nervous, anxious, and fearful of retaliation.

Jordan Kiely, 27, of Walford Davies Drive, Newport, was raided by police at his home on August 22, 2025. Police found 164g of cocaine valued between £4,750 and £7,150, including 96.2g under his bed, two plastic packages, and 12.8g in a JD Sports bag. Additional items included scales with white powder traces, snap bags, paracetamol as a cutting agent, two phones, £120 cash, a 'tick list', and a knuckleduster. He became addicted to drugs after a toe amputation from a work accident and turned to dealing to pay off a drug debt.

On August 23, 2025, Rory Butler, 37, of Seaward Avenue, Sandfields, Port Talbot, argued with his partner after going out for food and was asked to leave her home. He stole her silver Volkswagen Golf and drove erratically, including through cones in a contraflow system on the M4 eastbound. He crashed into the central reservation between junctions 37 and 38. Police found him intoxicated in the vehicle; he gave a false name, claimed to be 12 years old, and resisted arrest, attempting to headbutt officers. Breath tests showed 139 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml at roadside and 115 at the station, nearly four times the legal limit.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without insurance and a licence. Has four prior convictions, including assaults against former partners for which he was subject to a suspended sentence order and alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement. Judge Paul Hobson noted the defendant could have killed someone and breached his order spectacularly.

On March 16, 2025, Philip Evans, 42, of Glan y Nant, Fochriw, Caerphilly, assaulted his partner at her home in Abercynon following an argument about his cheating. While under the influence of GHB causing temporary psychosis, he slapped her face, pushed her against a wall, elbowed her, threw her onto the bed, pinned her arms, and bit her repeatedly on her face, head, ears, chin, neck, arms, and breasts. He dragged her by the hair off the bed, kicked her legs and arms when she fell, leading to her choking on her false teeth and suffering concussion. The victim defended herself with a knife from the kitchen, after which Evans calmed down. She filmed the incident and contacted police, leading to his arrest at the property.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Has 36 previous convictions including harassment, exposure, possession of drugs and offences against the person. Diagnosed with PTSD and used GHB to self-medicate. Subject to a five-year restraining order.

On July 3, 2025, Oswaldson Small, 36, met a woman in Mojo's nightclub in Newport and went to her home. He initiated sex, but she refused. Small shouted, refused to leave, and punched her 20-25 times to the face and body, causing her to fall on the bed. She sustained significant bruising, swelling, facial cuts, a black eye, and body bruises, requiring hospital treatment for concussion. She reported amplified trauma, feeling paranoid, anxious, and delusional. Small was identified via CCTV, arrested on July 19, and denied the assault, claiming self-defense after racial slurs. His wife attended the hearing; he is a stay-at-home father to their four-year-old child.

Queeley swung the axe at one of the cyclists but was quickly disarmed. The cyclists then attacked Queeley with the machete, causing lacerations to his right arm. The incident was witnessed by an innocent bystander who was left terrified and called the police. CCTV footage captured the event, including taunts from the cyclists.

He threatened two support workers with the lit fire, saying 'I'll set you on f****** fire' and 'Nothing will happen as I'm British and you are black', using racist language. The fire alarm activated, prompting emergency services. He had a history of damaging property and assaulting staff, and lived in the basement due to behavioural concerns. The accommodation housed other vulnerable residents with learning difficulties.
Pleaded guilty to arson. Has 12 previous convictions for offences including criminal damage. Mental health conditions including ADHD, OCD and attachment issues reduced culpability. Judge Shomon Khan noted that starting fires in this way is very concerning and can cause harm to many people.

Amanuale Mebrahtu, 28, an Uber driver from Picton Place, Canton, sexually assaulted two women in Cardiff. In the first incident, he drove a student home from a night out in Cardiff city centre, made inappropriate sexual comments during the journey, and upon arrival groped her bottom during a hug he requested. He lingered outside her property for five minutes and later sent her a Snapchat friend request. In the second incident, he followed an intoxicated woman and her friends for one-and-a-half hours after they left Cardiff city centre, offered her a piggy back down stairs, then carried her further, placed his hands under her dress, touched her vagina, and penetrated her with his fingers before fleeing. He was identified via CCTV and convicted of assault by penetration and sexual assault.
Extended licence period of 3 years. Subject to sex offender notification requirements and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely. Of previous good character. Provided help to community and church, support to mother and sister with medical issues.

Gerard Hallinan, 22, of Davies Square, Newport, teamed up with Michelle Wetherall to supply class A drugs including crack cocaine from her home in Llansawel, Briton Ferry. On September 5, 2025, during a police raid, Hallinan was detained leaving the living room where 53g of crack cocaine worth up to £5,210 was found on a shelf, which he claimed was for personal use. Additional items included 3.2g of cannabis, THC sweets worth up to £10, blue tablets, drug paraphernalia, packaging with cocaine residue, and £5,731 in total cash. A second phone belonging to him contained drug-related messages showing dealings to users and other suppliers under the nickname 'Irish'. The operation involved joint dealing for significant profit.

Nicholas Davies, 27, of Caeconna Road, Portmead, Swansea, subjected his partner of five years to daily physical violence and threats, fuelled by jealousy and cocaine use. Incidents included strangling her multiple times, including when pregnant and post-caesarean; punching her in the stomach after her caesarean; throwing her to the floor; holding her over railings threatening to drop her; pushing her into a bush; pushing her face into a brick stable; dangerous driving by swerving in front of her car with children inside and driving at her; kicking her car and criminal damage; possession of cannabis. He paid youths to track her and deleted photos of injuries. The violence escalated with drug use, making him angry and paranoid. The victim feared for her life and that of her unborn child, felt isolated and dependent, and planned to leave but struggled until police intervention after she activated SOS on her phone.
Pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, battery, dangerous driving, criminal damage and possession of a class B drug. One previous conviction for driving with no insurance. Mitigating factors included cocaine use and personal trauma.

Michelle Wetherall, 57, of Llansawel, Briton Ferry, teamed up with Gerard Hallinan to supply class A drugs including crack cocaine and cannabis from her home. On September 5, 2025, police raided the address after seeing a man leave with a pot containing a white substance. Officers found Wetherall in her bedroom with two tick lists, a phone, £1,000 in cash, 11g of cannabis worth up to £90, and 66 pregabalin tablets. Drug-related messages on her phone requested 'rock'. The operation involved selling to users and downstream suppliers for significant profit. Total cash seized was £5,731.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, and possession of criminal property. Has 45 previous convictions, including a sentence of three years imprisonment for possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine. Involved in dealing to fund her own crack cocaine addiction. Nadeen Shahzad, 45, of City Road, Roath, Cardiff, raped a child weekly for several years. The child was unaware of the nature of the acts and did not disclose them due to fear. The offences left the victim with severe psychological trauma, including sleep disturbances, school absences, insecurities, daily impacts, and suicidal thoughts. The anticipation of the trial over the last two years was extremely stressful for the victim.
Pleaded not guilty but found guilty after a week-long trial. No previous convictions. Judge described him as a persistent and relentless paedophile, arrogant, self-interested, and manipulative. Ordered no contact with children under 16 except inadvertently, prohibited from living with children under 16 without social services approval, and must register as a sex offender for life.

On January 21, 2025, at St Cadoc's Hospital in Caerleon, Aeron Gingell, a 23-year-old mental health patient, attacked a fellow resident in a bathroom, leaving him unconscious in a pool of blood with two shoelaces tied tightly around his neck as ligatures. The victim's face turned blue, and he had blood coming from above one eye. The victim was taken to University Hospital of Wales for treatment. Gingell was detained at the hospital since February 2022 after being caught with knives. He later admitted to staff that he had killed the victim, influenced by voices and hallucinations where he believed the victim was sexually molesting him.
Suffers from severe schizoaffective disorder with somatic hallucinations. Judge satisfied of mental health disorder. Has substantially improved and will continue treatment at Ashworth Hospital.

On November 17, 2023, police stopped a Vauxhall car in Castle Street, Caerphilly, due to a strong smell of cannabis. Aaron Lloyd, seated in the rear passenger seat, was found with £5,300 in cash protruding from his jacket pocket and approximately 5g of cannabis in a car pocket nearby. His phone revealed messages discussing the supply of Californian cannabis. In a separate incident on June 4, 2025, Lloyd drove a suspected cloned car in Caerphilly and fled off-road over Caerphilly Mountain upon spotting police. He rammed into multiple police cars after being slowed by stingers, causing £15,945 in damage. Officers smashed the car window to arrest him. The driving was described as extremely dangerous with obvious risk to officers.

The victim fled the defendant's car into the lobby seeking help from the receptionist, prompting police involvement.

Cory Jones

Cory Jones, aged 19 from Ynyswen, Rhondda Cynon Taf, contacted 37 girls aged 10 to 16 on Snapchat between 2022 and 2024. He gained their trust, often using aliases and lying about his age, before coercing them into sending explicit photos and videos. When some refused further demands, he blackmailed them by threatening to publish the images on social media. Jones also sent sexual images of himself to the victims. After his arrest, 172 indecent images of children were found on his phone. The victims reported feeling sick, betrayed, nervous, upset, and stupid for trusting him, with long-lasting harm to them and their families.
Admitted 69 offences including blackmail, causing a child to engage in sexual activity and distributing indecent images. Must serve a minimum of 5 years and 4 months before release. Placed on the sex offenders register for life. Judge noted he was corrupted by pornography and highlighted dangers of unsupervised social media access.

He fled from officers, narrowly missing a car, and was tasered after refusing to stop. During the chase, he discarded a machete under a police car and attempted to hide crack cocaine in a nappy. Upon search, he was found with 5.7kg heroin, 239.8g cocaine, 280g cannabis, £37,000 cash, and mobile phones, valued at nearly £200,000.

Leonard Rickard, aged 76, sexually abused a seven-year-old girl while babysitting her between 2012 and 2013 at Coed Hills in St Hilary, in the Vale of Glamorgan. The abuse occurred in a yurt where he first kissed her while she pretended to be a princess, escalating to performing oral sex on her, touching her sexually, making her touch him, and attempting to incite her to perform oral sex. The victim, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, disclosed the abuse in her diary before dying at age 17.
Pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 13, assault of a child under 13 by penetration, causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Has four previous convictions for sexual activity with a child under 16. Suffered a stroke in 2019 and possible early-onset dementia.

Sarah Vigus held down a 17-year-old girl while her partner, Robert Ellis-Evans, raped her. The victim had passed out or fallen asleep after drinking vodka shots. Vigus was also found guilty of assault by penetration, where she admitted to penetrating the victim's vagina with her fingers but claimed it was consensual. The victim reported the incident to her parents and the police, leading to the defendants' arrest and conviction.
