She was studying at Leeds Beckett University and working as a carer.
Found guilty of murder by jury. Admitted perverting the course of justice by disposing of the body and attempting to burn the victim's phone. Judge rejected claims of honour killing and stated no identifiable motive.

Warren Benton, 72, illegally built a third storey extension on his property at 12 High Street in Idle, a 19th-century former office building in The Green Conservation Area. Granted planning permission in 2009 to convert it into flats, but the extension was constructed 60cm too high and did not fit with the surrounding terraced houses, making it an obtrusive feature. A new planning application was refused, and an enforcement notice was issued in August 2010 requiring demolition by November 2010. Despite multiple visits, letters, and periods of apparent cooperation, Benton failed to comply for 15 years. He currently lives in the extension, which the council estimates would cost £15,000 to £25,000 to demolish.
Pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, which reduced the fine from £18,000. No previous convictions. Has health issues and acted as a carer for his late wife. Still required to demolish the extension.

On 29 April, at Kirkgate Market in Bradford, Ellie Burns attacked two shoppers after hearing them complain that a song she was singing was racist. She spat at one victim, punched her, pulled her hair, and ripped off her hijab. She then slapped and pushed over the second woman. Burns also scratched a police officer who attended the scene. The incident occurred just 25 days after she received a suspended prison sentence for vodka and cocaine-fuelled attacks on a taxi driver and five police officers, during which she hurled racist abuse at the driver and punched him in the face.
Pleaded guilty to two offences of racially aggravated common assault and assaulting a police officer. Ten months from a previously suspended sentence activated, plus ten months for the new offences. Suffering from emotional trauma, substance misuse, and aggression following an abusive relationship.

Hagi Wally-Sanneh, a 22-year-old paranoid schizophrenic with no fixed abode and history of drug use, carried out a series of unprovoked stranger attacks in Bradford city centre starting in October 2024. On October 2024, he threw a concrete slab through a man's home window. In December 2024, he punched a woman in the face while she pushed her baby in a pram and walked with her other young child, causing her to fall. In January 2025, he threw liquid smelling of urine at two workers, who required hospital treatment, and shouted racist abuse at a woman at a bus stop. In February 2025, he kicked a 73-year-old woman in the face as she walked through the city centre, leaving her bewildered and shocked. He was arrested days later and shouted racist abuse at the officer. Additionally, in 2023 while in custody, he sexually assaulted a female prison officer by cupping her breast over clothing. He also punched another stranger in the face, leading to the community order.
Admitted offences including sexual assault, common assaults, racially aggravated harassment and criminal damage. Remanded in custody since February 2024, already served time. Ordered to register as a sex offender for 7 years. Repeat offending while on a prior court order for mental health assistance. Mental health symptoms improved with medication in custody, no cannabis use.
