On June 23, 2023, at the Saint Piran Cafe in Bissoe near Truro, Christopher Gillbard removed the muzzle from his 14-year-old Australian Shepherd, Merlin, to allow the dog to drink, resulting in Merlin biting a man on the hand while he was eating with his partner. The victim sustained puncture wounds requiring hospital treatment and continued to suffer effects a year later. This was not the first incident, with previous bites occurring in 2017 at a playpark and in 2020 at a bank in Liskeard.
Pleaded guilty on the day of trial. Suffers from PTSD and depression due to a previous car accident. Expressed remorse and has completed a behavioural training course with the dog. No further incidents since summer 2023.

Initially denied involvement and claimed to be a tourist, but pleaded guilty after evidence was uncovered, including messages and photos on his phone discussing the plans.

He also assaulted a police officer by banging his head against the van walls and headbutting the officer. Additionally, he committed another burglary with intent to steal from a doctor's surgery on March 17, 2024. His actions were influenced by not taking his medication and substance abuse, which exacerbated his mental health condition.
Pleaded guilty to charges including burglary, theft, criminal damage, and assaulting an emergency worker. Suffered from schizophrenia and was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the offences. The judge warned that non-compliance with medication or substance use could lead to imprisonment due to the risk posed to the public.

Jacob Simmonds, 26, from Madron, Penzance, was found in possession of 71.28g of crack cocaine, about 17g of heroin, cannabis, and more than £4,000 in cash at his home. This occurred while he was already serving a suspended sentence. Police executed an arrest warrant in June 2025, and he directed them to the drugs in his house and car, stating he wanted to accept the charges. He was also in breach of his previous suspended sentence from August 2024.
Pleaded guilty to all charges immediately. Has four previous convictions, including drug offences. In mitigation, he admitted to dealing drugs to clear a debt and cited the allure of money, while noting he has a young family and could contribute to society.
