The attack left the victim with dark thoughts, feeling sick, unable to sleep, and the shadow of her former confident self, not wanting to live anymore due to the terror inflicted.
Found guilty of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault after trial. Not guilty on another count of rape. Will be deported to Romania after serving two thirds of sentence. Previous convictions for aggravated larceny, family abandonment, and non-payment of child maintenance (not in UK). Judge commented that hard work counts for little in the face of such serious sexual depravity and being drunk is not a mitigating factor.

In the first incident in August, he pushed her, grabbed her by the neck during a sustained attack in the kitchen, and headbutted her in the face, witnessed by their daughter who called the police. He was arrested and bailed. In the second incident in October, while still on bail, he again grabbed her by the neck and pushed her, with children present. The assaults occurred after he lost control, having been drinking heavily to deal with problems. He had been on remand at HMP Exeter since October.
Pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and battery. Judge noted appalling behaviour, remorse, acceptance of guilt, and four months on remand. His home in Trevisker Drive was raided by Devon and Cornwall Police on February 18, 2026, where 228g of crystal meth (street value £18,240), cannabis and cannabis resin, £480 cash, zip bags, scales, and cutting agents were found. He made a full admission and volunteered information about additional drugs in his shed.
Pleaded guilty to all charges. Sold drugs to fund his own habit due to desperation to provide for his partner and five children. Running drugs from home where family was present was an aggravating factor. Will serve half before release on licence.

The woman walked away and reported the incident to police, leading to Parnell's arrest and charge.

He posted in a group for gay teens claiming to be a 30-year-old from Cornwall. The decoy responded claiming to be nearly 15 years old. The conversation quickly turned sexualised; Corti sent a video of himself masturbating, asked for sexual images in return, and suggested meeting up for sexual activities.
Pleaded not guilty but convicted. No previous convictions. Shown remorse and taken steps to rehabilitate. Good character and work prospects otherwise.

He also did not comply with an enforcement notice issued by the service. These failings placed residents at significant risk of death or serious injury.

Kay Carpenter, 62, of Pendeen, conducted a two-year campaign of harassment against Reverend Karsten Wedgewood, priest in charge of St Just-in-Penwith parish church in west Cornwall. This included endless emails, letters, angry outbursts, and uninvited visits to his home, despite warnings and police bail conditions not to contact him. The harassment caused significant distress and anxiety to the priest, leading to the installation of CCTV at his home. On June 2024, she visited his home in breach of bail, and he used his foot to push her out to shut the door. She was charged in March 2024 with obstructing and assaulting a clergyman in discharge of duties at St John the Baptist Church in Pendeen, but the prosecution offered no evidence on the charges.
Found not guilty of obstructing and assaulting a clergyman but restraining order imposed on acquittal. Behaviour described as relentless, remorseless and repeated harassment over two years.

On September 9, 2025, Christopher Lloyd, 35, of Granworth Walk in Leicester, broke into the home of a frail acquaintance in Liskeard, Cornwall, by smashing the back door. Armed with a knife, he demanded money and drugs, made a stabbing motion at the victim's face, and threatened to stab him in the neck, shouting 'Next time I will stab you. Where do you want it?' The 25-minute ordeal was recorded by the 999 operator. Lloyd left with some tobacco. He was arrested later that day hundreds of miles away, identified via CCTV showing him fleeing with the knife, and located in Leicester where he has family. The victim, who considered Lloyd a friend, felt unsafe in his own home and feared being stabbed for reporting the incident.

On December 20, 2025, Luke Tedray, 25, from Park Road in Camborne, was kicked out of the Miners Arms pub in Plain-An-Gwarry, Redruth, after becoming rowdy and annoying other customers, leading to a scuffle with landlord Kevin Stephens. About an hour later, he returned with an imitation firearm tucked in his trousers, approached the landlord aggressively, and attempted to grab the weapon, causing it to drop and panic among pubgoers. He recovered the gun before being ejected by the landlord and customers. Armed police later arrested him.
Pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm and affray. Under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time. No previous convictions for violence. Banned from the curtilage of the Miners Arms for 10 years. Judge noted the firearm was brought to intimidate and cause fear.
Freddie Clow

On July 1, 2025, shortly before 2am, Freddie Clow, 26, from Penzance, punched Esftathios Tavlaridis, who was walking home intoxicated from the Seven Stars pub on Market Jew Street, Penzance. After Mr Tavlaridis fell and his bottle of alcohol broke, Clow stabbed him multiple times with the broken bottle, causing slash wounds to his face and back, a collapsed lung, and a broken rib. Clow also kicked him while he lay unconscious in a pool of blood. The attack was captured on camera by a local resident and witnessed by a bystander. The next day, Clow committed five thefts from a shop, stealing goods worth about £1,000, and assaulted the shopkeeper who tried to stop him. Mr Tavlaridis required surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

Has multiple prior convictions for 37 offences including dishonesty, theft, battery, common assault, and breaching court orders. Long history of drug addiction and ADHD. In January 2025, David Long, aged 37 and with an alcohol problem, punched his ex-partner several times in the face, put his hands around her throat, and broke her nose following an argument. This was not the first assault but the first requiring medical attention. The victim suffered significant bruising to the face and neck, a fractured nose, and a chest injury, along with ongoing emotional abuse including regular insults and mockery. Following the incident, Long was arrested and the victim experienced nightmares, depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

On June 20, 2025, Kyle Callum, 20, from Camborne, under the influence of a large dose of LSD, entered his adoptive parents' bedroom in Reskadinnick Road, Camborne, punched his mother in the face, attacked his father causing loss of consciousness, armed himself with a kitchen knife, stabbed his mother multiple times causing fractures and stab wounds, stabbed his father when he intervened, then assaulted a neighbour by punching through a window. He was disarmed and arrested by armed police. Blood tests confirmed high LSD levels. He believed in conspiracy theories and aimed to 'join the SAS to kill paedophiles'. Parents barricaded in bathroom during incident.
Pleaded guilty to all charges. No previous convictions. Judge noted drug use as aggravating factor, not excuse, and high risk of harm if returns to drugs.
Kyle Pakey

Kyle Pakey, 35, of Stanley Street in Rotherham, met his victim in March 2024 and began a relationship that turned violent due to jealousy, alcohol, and cocaine. In November 2024, he assaulted her over a text message from before their relationship, pushing her face, fingers into her face, and onto the bed. In August 2025, enraged over a text to a female friend, he pulled her hair, slapped her, and repeatedly struck her face, causing injuries including a perforated eardrum and bite mark. She fled to family in Birmingham, where he threatened to petrol bomb their house, throw acid at her mum's face, and have her brother violated. In September 2025, he smashed a window at her Truro home. Arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police, he resisted and was pepper sprayed.

Matthew Penfound, 19, from Broadclose Hill in Bude, returned to a friends' house in Stratton near Bude on July 18, 2025, armed with a knife and baseball bat after being asked to leave the previous day due to unacceptable behaviour. He banged on the kitchen window, then stabbed one teenager in the head and hit the other with the bat while shouting threats. When the parents intervened, he hit the father in the head with the bat and threatened the mother with the knife, causing unpleasant injuries. Police arrested him later that day at his home; the bat was found in his car, and he had changed and washed his clothes. The attack was a revenge incident.
Pleaded guilty. Previously of good character, spent 7 months on remand. Act of violence fuelled by drug-induced psychosis. Suffered from ADHD, ASD, and brain damage from childhood meningitis. Judge noted remorse and challenges faced.

He burned her with cigarettes, causing scarring on her arms, threatened her with weapons, boasted about his size and strength, and filmed an oral rape to exert control, later showing the footage to others. The attacks included incidents at her home where he told her she had 'no choice' but to comply, leaving her frozen in terror. In June 2022, Gilbert self-reported a sexual offence at Charles Cross police station, leading to the victim's disclosure of multiple rapes, including after a night out in Newquay.

Peter Ash, aged 52, from Kenwyn Hill Caravan Park, Truro, was previously convicted in 2022 of possessing child sexual abuse images and received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). In September 2025, Devon and Cornwall Police received intelligence about a user discussing child abuse on an online platform, leading to his identification and arrest. Police found a hidden mobile phone, breaching his SHPO by failing to inform them of the new device, installing encrypted applications, and using a VPN to mask his IP address. Examination of the device revealed an image of a person performing a sexual act on a dog.
Pleaded guilty to three breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, possession of extreme pornography, and breach of notification requirements as a sex offender. Must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for seven years.
