On September 10, 2025, North Devon Council investigated a report of fly-tipped waste at land in West Down, including three leaking oil barrels, two large refrigerators, a broom, and a drain junction. Spilled oil was also reported at a business address in Barnstaple. Ben Puig identified himself to the landowner and admitted dumping the waste. He removed the leaking barrels before officers arrived. Officers collected samples, and the refrigerators were cleared by the council. Oil barrels were found in his vehicle, which was seized under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
