On December 17, 2024, during Christmas festivities in Falmouth Town Centre on Killigrew Street, Abdulmutalip Kaya, 25, of Trelowen Drive in Penryn, assaulted a victim dressed as Santa Claus. Amid disorder between two groups, including takeaway staff, the victim held Kaya in a bear hug while Kaya was being assaulted by others. The victim was knocked unconscious and fell to the floor. Kaya then punched him twice, returned to kick the semi-conscious victim in the head, causing him to slump, and kicked him again. The victim suffered a cut to the head, abrasions to the face and mouth, loss of consciousness, nausea, and required a CT scan in hospital. The incident was captured on council CCTV and widely shared on social media, leading to police awareness two days later. A media appeal identified the victim on December 22, 2024. Kaya claimed self-defence after a racial attack.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). Must complete 150 hours of unpaid work and pay compensation of £2,500 to the victim.

Norman Dalgarno, 74, of Lords Meadow in Tregony, kept his dogs in kennels around 20m from nearby homes, while living in a separate residential area of Tregony more than 260m from the site. Despite repeated warnings from council officers, Dalgarno did not monitor the site effectively or prevent night-time barking noise, breaching the Community Protection Notice. He also refused to provide details of the landowner when legally required.
Convicted after a two-day trial of four charges relating to breaches of a Community Protection Notice and one for refusing to provide landowner details. Granted a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order prohibiting keeping dogs at the site and allowing dogs under his control to cause nuisance or annoyance.

Peter Denzil Ash, 52, of Kenwyn Hill Caravan Park, Truro, failed to meet the welfare needs of his male Labrador cross Samson at an address in Truro on July 31, 2025. An image of a person performing a sexual act on a dog was found on his device. Ash, a registered sex offender, had previously been convicted of possessing child sexual abuse images in 2022 and received a SHPO. In September 2025, police received intelligence about discussions of child abuse online, leading to his identification and arrest. He failed to inform police of a new electronic device, used encrypted apps and VPN to mask activity.
Pleaded guilty to failing to meet the welfare needs of his male Labrador cross Samson. Already serving a 21-month prison term for separate matters. Disqualified from owning animals for 10 years. Jake Ormerod stole a bicycle from outside a property in Newton Abbot earlier in March 2026, as captured on CCTV where he was seen taking and riding away with it. On September 21 in Bassett Street in Falmouth interfered with a motor vehicle with intent to commit theft. On or about November 20 at Falmouth assaulted PC Alfie Peters by beating him.
