On April 23, 2025, Godfrey Kent, 77, of Penzance, assaulted his wife of 29 years, who had lost her right leg following an operation and for whom he was her carer. The behaviour had escalated over the previous eight months from shouting and sulking to physical violence. While the victim was texting at the kitchen table, Kent asked about dinner and she asked him to wait. He pushed a table towards her, causing her to fall to the floor. Later, he held her phone above her head, leading to another fall. The victim suffered swelling to the side of her head and multiple bruises, attending A&E the next day. She described being very frightened, scared of him, and worried about having to leave the county.

On October 9, 2022, shortly after 9pm, Jake Hunt, 31, of St Austell, approached an off-duty police officer in a dark alleyway off Margaret Avenue, St Austell, Cornwall. He took out a small knife and demanded the officer's phone, saying 'give me your phone'. The officer shone his torch, identified himself as police, and Hunt ran away. CCTV captured Hunt entering the alley at 9.10pm and fleeing two minutes later. He returned home shortly after and was arrested that night, with knives found in his bedroom. The victim reported a profound effect, feeling vulnerable and anxious.

When signalled to stop by Devon and Cornwall Police, he sped off, colliding with a stationary vehicle before continuing. He accelerated to 60mph through Quintrell Downs (30mph limit), overtook vehicles by crossing double white lines, and the passenger threw objects at police during the 10-minute pursuit. The moped was abandoned, and Parsons was found with a police dog. He tested positive for 9.2 microgrammes of THC (legal limit 2mg).

Shortly after, he entered Klimek Jewellers nearby, asked to see rings, attempted to grab a ring multiple times, banged his fist on the counter, yelled 'where’s the money?', swept items off the counter, pushed past staff, and tried to access the cash register. Following the attempted robbery, he was stopped by a police officer, became aggressive, and threw the stolen bottle at the officer, missing by inches but hitting a five-year-old child and causing injury. The officer described it as the most scared he had been in his career, and the shop worker was terrified.

The assaults caused severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and suicidal thoughts, leading the victim and his family to move out of the area. The victim described his life as totally shattered and his purpose in life as obsolete.

On a day in April 2024, Colin Williams, a 46-year-old pizza delivery driver from Horseshoe Drive in Newton Abbot, Devon, experienced an uncontrollable sneezing fit while driving back to the Domino's store in Hayle after a delivery in St Ives. In a 30mph zone on Trelyon Avenue, he veered onto the wrong side of the road while trying to rub his eyes, hitting holidaymakers David Clark (83) and his wife Daphne Clark, along with their dog Zara, who were staying at the Harbour Hotel. David Clark died a few days later from a fatal head injury at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. Daphne Clark suffered life-changing injuries to her tibia and fibula, requiring transfer to Derriford Hospital. Williams immediately stopped to help, called 999, admitted responsibility to police, and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, nor using his mobile phone. The vehicle and road had no defects.

He was charged with more than 30 counts including sexual assault against a child under 13, causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and raping a girl under 13. The victims suffered lifelong trauma, including anxiety, depression, stutter, loss of trust, and inability to maintain relationships and employment.
