The victim was hospitalized for a week, wore a head brace for several weeks, suffered seizures leading to job loss as an HGV driver, ongoing pain, and psychological trauma including fear of going out. Both parties were inebriated, with alcohol aggravating the offense.

Between February and March 2022, Paul Jones, a 70-year-old farmer from Farrow Fordh in Roche near St Austell, made contact on social media with a supposed 14-year-old girl named Emma, who was actually a fake account set up by online paedophile hunters. Over two weeks, he pursued a sexualised conversation, asking her to masturbate and send photos, and sent her images of women masturbating each other. The vigilantes confronted and detained him at his home near Zelah, between Truro and Newquay, before calling Devon and Cornwall Police. He was arrested and charged.

The offences were committed while on a suspended sentence for vandalising internet cables in Falmouth in April, affecting over 60 businesses.

He evaded pursuit by driving at 60mph in 30mph zones, wrong way around a roundabout, into oncoming traffic forcing a bus to evade, and lost control on a slippery lane, flipping the car onto its roof. He attempted to drag his female passenger to the driver's seat to impersonate her as the driver, but a seatbelt welt on his chest indicated he was driving. Both occupants suffered minor injuries and were hospitalized. Coombe was arrested and charged.

On December 13, 2023, at around 1am in Penzance, Lee Wellman, 28, of Tuckingmill, Camborne, shouted 'give me your s**t' at a man walking his dog, whom he knew and who had an existing drug debt. He produced a large kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the front of his leg when he refused, then stabbed him again in the back of the leg as he tried to run away. Wellman followed the victim home, threatening to stab him and his girlfriend if they reported the incident. A couple of weeks later, he made stabbing gestures at the victim in town and laughed. In February 2025, Wellman began threatening the victim over the phone regarding the drug debt. In October 2025, police searched Wellman's address and found thousands of pounds worth of Class A drugs, valued at around £7,500. After arrest, during interview at Camborne Police Station, Wellman called officers 'f***ing scumbags', accused them of planting drugs, punched the interviewing officer in the face, attempted to knee him in the face, and continued punching until restrained. He was abusive and made further threats during a subsequent interview.

Victims reported lasting trauma, paranoia, and fear of going out.
